Ice blast!!!! Needs a tweek!!!!

Ice blast for corruptors defenders and blasters need some love. For so long this class has been weakest out the damage roles.

Here is a few suggestions.......

1. Take away 1 of the holds and give it an AoE.
eg....bitter ice ball (same sort of thing as fire ball)

2. Fix bitter ice blast, give it some more range and damage.

3. Fix the PvP damages, ice blast has been unplayable in pvp since issue 12.

I disagree with all of this.

Gotta agree with Jay here. Ice blast is one of the better blast sets. Great ST dmg, ok AoE dmg, good secondary effects and some control.

Bitter Ice blast has better range than many of the other high dmg blasts and has some great side effects. BIB is one of the best overall ST ranged attacks in the game.

I'm also not sure why this is in the I22 beta forums.

JayboH, do you own an ice blast toon? do you PvP with it? do you win PvP with your ice blast?

I guess not.

Do you see ice blast being played in RV or arena?

Out of all the corruptors, defenders, blasters and dominators, ice blast is the least played.

Come to think of it......I have not seen an ice blast dominator since I was on EU servers in 2008.

Because every1 with good knowledge of the game does not make this anymore because its so weak.

My Ice/Cold Corrupter would beg to differ. Plus, this isn't the suggestions forum. It's about the current beta.

I recently submitted a report (today actually) on the PVP damage scale of Bitter Freeze Ray. I can see your complaints and I agree with them (this one power being specific) being a ice blast toon player since day one, but yes, as many said, this is not the place for this.

I agree no 2.5 activation time, 20 endurance cost power should deal 50 damage in PVP. There's a reason ALL powers are being treated for their damage via activation time and someone did drop the ball on this- but let's be serious.

I fully understand this is not the place to post but...... this is the place the Dev's are paying most attention to right now. They are bringing out a new issue and I am giving my thoughts on how they can impove it.

Wow. If you really care so much about having your opinions seen and considered, you might try to be a bit more civil. You knowingly posted in the wrong place as a stunt hoping to get Dev attention (if you had got any, it wouldn't have been favorable to you, so nice going there) and then you attacked those who didn't 100% agree with your views. Frankly, you did so in a rather juvenile manner to boot. As to the topic of your thread...

1) As has been pointed out upthread, Ice Blast is one of the better-performing blast sets in terms of pve content as BIB is very good. It's an especially good choice for Defenders as it uses the Blaster numbers for Blizzard, giving a stronger tier9.

2) Granted, it isn't FOTM for pvp play, but that alone doesn't necessarily mean it desperately needs changes given that many other blast powersets are similarly neglected in pvp - virtually everyone chooses psi, energy or fire as far as I've seen. While that's not a laudable state of affairs, it has at its root a problem that goes beyond just this powerset.

If this is more a complaint that your particular character doesn't do as well in pvp as you'd like, well, you have my sympathies but it's unlikely the pvp is EVER going to be 1v1 balanced even if significant improvements are made.

I am a little confused.

I thought this was about Ice Blast, and not arguments about how one power affects a completely different set in only a PVP scenario (ie ice assault's bitter ice blast.)

I also don't understand how anyone with an opposing view must be personally attacked by the OP.

Actual Ice Blast is a tool set really, and everything is great outside of the debatable usefulness of Bitter Freeze Ray and Ice Storm. It's probably the safest blast set to use outside of energy blast, especially for soloing.

In PvP yes Ice Blast does underperform compared to Psy, Fire, and Sonic Blast, but so does every other blast set. It's not ice blast that needs to be tweaked here, it's PvP itself that is broken.

In PvE Ice Blast is a perfectly fine blast set.

I find the set does fine in PvE. I wouldn't want to lose a hold in the set, especially not due to alleged PvP issues. But I'd happily lose the cone for a standard targeted AoE.

About the only thing the OP has right is that PVP is broken and needs fixing. Pre-I13, Ice Blast was *very* popular as a primary, usually paired with Energy or Electric. If PVP is ever fixed (like that will happen,) THEN we can start looking at PVP adjustments for sets.

Until then, you're complaining that your car's cupholder is broken while you're stuck in a sinkhole, the axles have snapped and the frame is bent - there are MUCH bigger problems to deal with (namely PVP itself.)

Also, there's nothing wrong with Ice Blast.

But if you REALLY think the devs are going to alter a powerset because ONE person is unhappy with its performance in PvP (a vanishingly small portion of the game), by all means, keep trying.

You want to blast in PvP? Roll a Psi like everyone else.
