Do you like making lots of characters or playing just one/a few?
My name is Mental Maden and I'm an altoholic.

I make a ton of alts, but they're mostly all variations of a small few characters.
So I'm not sure, but I think I'm an altaholic.

I have a dozen or more characters that I ostensibly play actively, but really I focus on one or a few at a time. So, looked at over a couple weeks, I don't play many characters; over a few months, the list expands significantly.

I tend to have a concept on a whim for a character, but there are very few I actually play through to the end. I have my MM that was just a concept and finally, after years, made it to level 50.
I use my second page as a backburner/vault for my "alts" and keep my first page just for my 4 level 50's and new toons that I actually do want to play.

Right this moment, I have 33 characters on Virtue and a dozen on Exalted, all of which I play "regularly" -- some much more regularly than others.
Four of the Exalted ones are variations of characters from Virtue.
An hour ago, I deleted two characters from Virtue. I immediately filled one of the open slots.
I think I may have a problem.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.
I make a lot of alts HOWEVER i have very few characters that i play on a regular basis.
Rashnu Damz - stj/nrg scrapper
Ultimate Damz - ill/rad controller
Mr Damz - ice/cold corruptor
I have a few other level 50s that i might pull out of the hat once in a while, but they're my characters i play a lot. But i do love making new alts and trying to fit them into my own playstyle
@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!
Before I got into badging, I had a bunch of different toons that I played. Most of them were Solaranger<insertcolorhere> or some variation. They were all part of the same "team."
The past year or so I've been playing my Zombie* toons a bit more exclusively. Fryer (fire/kin controller) is my all around badge ***** multipurpose toon. I also have a few brutes that I play on the regular - Smasher (SS/Shld), Basher (StJ/WP) and Destroyer. Destroyer is my newest project- Titan Weapons / Electric Armor. Been working on his Incarnate stuff.
I guess the brutes play more towards my playstyle these days. I like being able to rush into a mob and basically wreck them Even exemp, I was kicking butt last night on a Citadel TF.

Im an altoholic i have 12 50s only play 3 and 5 30s im working on so yes i admit i have a problem thats the first step lol
I used to be an altholic, routinely making and playing different toons. Issue 20 changed all that. Now, I just play three toons. I really enjoy playing all three for different reasons, and the Incarnate system is just too much work to bother leveling up a new toon.
I actually wanted to make a new toon a month and a half ago, but I realized that by the time I got him up high enough to run Incarnate trials, there would be very few people around to run them with due to a certain game in a galaxy far, far away launching. It appears I was right. Exalted server, regularly the #3 server population wise, has been a veritable ghost town since that game's launch. I imagine it'll slowly get better after a couple of months, but for now... Yeah, glad I didn't bother.
@Celestial Lord and @Celestial Lord Too
played the beta that game blows
I'm an altaholic. I have more than 50 characters in this game spread over seven servers. I jump from character to character. I like variety, and I tend to get a bit bored if I keep playing one character for a long time. I retire characters when they hit level 50. I have no interest in the Incarnate system, and I don't really have any other reasons to keep playing at 50.
Yes I,m an altaholic I have 30 toons on Defiant which is my home server then I have more on about 4 other servers, not sure where they are haha.I tend to get an idea and make a toon to match ,so I have lots of different AT,s enjoy playing most but not all.
Prof Radburn controller,Celtic Ice Maiden, blaster,Miss Knockout scrapper,Mistress Davina controller,Stone Hart, tank Split Personality PB.Queen Lostris controller,Fridgid Mary blaster,Shocking Fire blaster Future Elfling defender, Little Weed controller,Capo Angelo MM, Commander Buzzsaw MM, Justice Tank tank all 50,s

I don't do concept or story/roleplay characters. I make characters to try out a powerset that I haven't used yet. So I tend to focus on that character during its development. If I wanted to explore several powersets at the same time or I was starting in a new server, I may make 3-4 characters of different archetypes to have a variety available. I don't really have a main character, but depending on the TF or team, I'll bring whichever character would be most flexible for the job.
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
46 unique characters and counting on Virtue, and not one repeated powerset/AT combo.
My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."
Both.
I have a Virtue server with three full pages of characters. Most of them are not above level 20.

I fancy myself a storyteller, so rather than explore a single character, I like to create a world in which many characters coexist and interact with each other. As such, there's really no way I could be satisfied with just one character. I don't exactly make zillions of characters like some people, but the roster grows and grows, and I like them all... Well, almost all. Insane Rick was just stupid.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

OK, now that the AA joke is done - see my signature. I have about 50-60 characters spread across 5 servers, although recently, I have mainly been playing the 15 or 16 I have on Infinity more than the rest. When I hear from one of my global friends or even when I get an invite from a stranger to join a TF, my first response is "What does the team need?" because I have no problem switching from whatever character I am currently playing to something else if the team needs buffs or control or moarDPS.
And I know that compared to some people around here, 50-60 characters makes me a rank amateur!
Altoholic - but a Blaster at Heart!

Never had many alts. My main had a lot of effort and IOs and miles under his belt. He'd done everything and there was little point in doing it again with a weaker alt I enjoyed less. I stopped bothering rolling them altogether because I didnt want to waste time with an alt I wasnt going to like (I try to give them a fair shake and get them to the mid 20s) and end up wasting all that time... time I could have spent rocking stuff with my main.
Now I've got five 50+3s. (thats a lot to me ok! ) Thanks to the DFB I can tell in an hour or two if I'll enjoy my new alt rather than a week or two... then delete/reroll or keep going to regular content. I didnt even know I liked entire archetypes until now. Now Im constantly rolling new toons. I've already filled the last of my home server slots with a future Grav troller/dom and future Staff stalker.
I get an inspiration and a Hero is on its way.

Looking through Paragon wiki and meshing powers in my head and the Sonic/Ice blaster Final Rest (2 sleeps) begins.
I have a concept and usually a small bio at least in my head.
In other games I play only one character. If I make a new one, I delete the old one.
But in CoH I have 10 characters and rotate through all of them.
Kind of wanted to hear the general public's preference on this. I have some people on my global who seem to play just one or two characters and thats it while others (literally) make a new character every time they're on. I'm sort of in between myself. At first I used to play maybe just one or two characters exclusively but now I've been a lot more open to trying out different concepts and stuck with the ones I enjoyed. I sort of sit on the idea of a new character before making one though. I have to think if it's something I really may enjoy or not. I end up spending 10 or 20 minutes just on the Playstyle screen trying to decide X_x.
