New frontiers

For literal years I've wanted something in this game that I've always been told simply wasn't possible without major work.

Well, the major groundwork has now been done so the main reason it wouldn't be done is gone.

We have a 4-leg skeleton now!!!

I want Dinosaurs. I want an entire lost world.

Here's my idea....

Take Eden and do a little bit of reworking, not much since it already has a primal feel to it. However, the new lore is that a temporal rift has been created by the DE in a failed attempt to restore the Earth to it's pre-human state.

This Rift allows the Jurrasic era to merge with present day Eden. Much like Salamancha and Croatoa. Bringing all manner of Dinosaur into the zone, possibly a volcano etc. With missions to seal the rift etc.
Most of the Dinosaurs are passive, like Sally, only getting aggressive when directly threatened. However keep an eye out for the predatory ones roaming the zone! A T-Rex GM and roaving packs of raptors.

Naturally, this would led to the Prehistoric Cosutme pack. :P

So that's it, give us Dinosaurs with your nifty new 4-legger.

Any interest in this or am I alone? Anything else you'd like to see the new skeleton used for?

Actual dinosaurs, as cool as they may be, would feel too out of place and silly to me in this game. However, I'm not at all opposed to having the new four legged rig give us some truly dinosaur-sized monstrosities. Like, which is related to your suggestion, an epic Primal DE monster emerges from Eden. Perhaps a giant beast made up of vines chunks of land, with four massive trees as legs or something similar.

When they upgrade the character models I can see( IMHO) alot more cool stuff. I hope for horses or centaur bodies with actual hair on the bodies.

I'm with you. I want to punch a dinosaur.

Thanks for stating the obvious...

As my suggestion has been made, oh something in the order of once a month for the last 7 years, this is less a suggestion and more an inquiry into what other things we want for the new 4-leg rig.

Hence my posting it here, the general discussion section, you know to generate discussion where the most people will see it, now with the added benefit of all access as well.

Now turn off the police siren and get back to being productive you! :P

So you want to find out what ideas other people have for the 4-leg rig? Someplace for others to suggest things for it.

Got it.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

Dinosaurs or not, I've long wanted the Midnighter Club to access some additional time frames. There are limitless possibilities. I'd love to see the Rogue Isles in the 1920s.

I'd like to see that if it meant I could unlock the option of retro Arachnos costumes for my SoA...

I am inclined to lean this way as well. Although we already have multiple DE giant monsters in the game, I could see this four-legged atrocity being very different and interesting in its own right, so I would be in favor of it. But I sort of agree that full-blown dinosaurs, even if they were in a zone like Cimerora, would feel a tad out of place.

Dinosaurs in a land of the romans filled with giant robots and alien nictus would look strange?

Imagine Portal Corp opens a portal to a dimension where Earth has been stripped of its resources and is a hellish toxic wasteland. But in that dimension they found a rift in time, allowing them to go back 65 million years to plant a colony of humans among the dinosaurs. Led by a tough military guy (imagine the guy from Avatar) they have to fight against not only the dinosaurs but evil people who want to despoil the past as well.

Touche`

I meant a zone accessible in a similar manner as Cimerora, where it is made apparent that you are traveling back in time. But your point is well seen.

And make sure there is plenty of bad writing and lots of teenage angst and drama....and oh yeah bad writing.

The most sensible option to me would be: Add roaming pack of wolves to all zones that have a forest. It would be nice to see something other than CoT in the forests.

In eden, add a nictus posessed wolf GM roaming followed by floating dog shaped nictus energy. that would be fun He would have powers similar to Romulus.

Going back to a time that people can't agree on the reality of it, isn't recommended. I'll accept them having dinosaurs and even "barbarians/savage men" at the same time. But, I would be upset if they added any specific year time frame "65 million" or a specific name "neanderthals" to the concept or wording.

Notice, I'm not promoting evolution or creation. I just want the concept (should it be made) to be as generic as possible.

Ugh, I'm kind of sick of dogs at this point, to be honest. They've already busted out two dog pets plus a dog-form for players. Let's use that four legged rig for some other animals/creatures/abominations so CoH isn't over saturated with dogs..

No nictus wolf GM, fine ... but I would still like to see wolves in forests though. Would be cool. They could apply it to other animals too, and put them all in the woods.

Which is why I figured they'd rather rework an existing zone (Eden) that is seldom used, instead of making an entire new one.

With the rift idea, you'd be able to have Dino's and Cavemen alongside each other by incorporating it into the lore, that the rift is unstable and keeps sucking up various eras or such.

Maybe even a giant T-Rex battling a giant Ape in the middle of the woods, ala Eochai and Jacks struggle.

It does seem that I'm in the minority on wanting Dinosaurs though, so other than Chimera type creatures like XZero suggested, what else would we want?

Machine animals. Robotic lions, bears, wolves, etc. Could be an enemy group for some mad scientist.

Elemental creatures, like dogs made of fire, or large spiders made of stone.

Shadow beasts for zones like the new Dark Astoria.
