The green elemental order backpack might have to do in the short run. Start buying up super packs! ( ' ;

Not a huge fan of how ridiculously flashy some of those moves are, to be honest. Mainly the break dance one. Oh well. Still a cool set, regardless.

WANT!
The Youtube video has the old animations, there's some different animations in the Ustream clip.

Agree 100%. Some of them (particularly the break dance one) are SO flashy that they're just.... cheesy (to me).

I was really looking forward to Staff Fighting too.

With the exception of Eye Of The Storm (The breakdancing-esque PBAoE attack), most of that looked...fairly consistent with what I'd expect from fighting with a staff.

Eye of the Storm really is the main offender. Given that it's likely the major AoE of the set though, that's a pretty big negative.

Perhaps. I suppose I'm more use to weapon-based sets being a -little- flashy (since they don't have a ton of graphical effects to toy with). I mean, Arc of Destruction in Titan Weapons?

Have to echo what a few others have said - not a fan of the break dance move but otherwise LOVE the set. Been waiting for staff fighting since beta and regardless of that one move, the rest of the set rocks and Ill be buying it. Already have a character created for it, just waiting for it to arrive.

I love all the animations, especially the big 'Eye of the Storm' break-dancy one. All of those animations I'd expect to see in a staff-wielding character from a fighting game, and more than expect to see here. You're a superhero, you're supposed to show off how awesome you are and how much you've trained with your weapon of choice.

...and with that last line I now have a mental image of Christopher Walken using Staff Melee, set to the Fatboy Slim song. I find no issue with this.

Unless your character isn't a show off, or they happen to use the Huge build, or would just look plain awkward regardless busting out random break dance moves.

Would be nice if, whenever they made super flashy moves, they made an alt animation that was more toned down and reserved.

I never said they shouldn't make a more toned-down, alt. version of the animations. Just that what they had is what comes to mind when the ideas of 'Staff Fighting' and 'Super Heroes' are combined; a big, flashy set full of the spins, strikes, and fancy moves that still look like it'd pack a wallop if it hit you.

Doesn't mean I think they shouldn't have alt. animations that are more practical as opposed to the spectacle move set Staff comes with. Hell, I've been wanting a version of that for Dual Pistols for a while (the Master Mind pistol animations and Thug animations would probably work for half of them already).

About the flashy animations in the video:

Here's the thing. I believe that the animations are the last thing done for a new power. They are dictated by the numbers in the power, specifically the Cast Time. Cast Time, of course, is dictated by other numbers (damage scale, endurance cost, recharge, etc.).

Instead of having more "animations" of your character just sitting there as you wait for the Cast Time to finish, we get flashy animations. And I'd rather see those, than see even more powers where my character doesn't really do anything (see: Snipes), or long Cast Time powers that look derpy (see: Energy Transfer).

Sadly, no. That name is copyrighted, so he can't use it.

In my world, however, he may think he's Sensei, but it's Szass Tam. Kinda like how TJ refuses to call Zwillenger, Zwillenger.

I'd be pleased as punch, if they'd just let us have the three MM attacks for Dual Pistols as options, I'll live with the rest if I could just have those three.

Same here. Especially Empty Clips.

I love the animations, even more the new one.
I love how we got now more fluid animations from one attack to the next instead those old slow awful activation time attacks(Thunderstrike I look at ya)
I wish melee sets would get alternate animations to be on par visually to the newest ones.

I'm surprised they haven't included these as alternate animations, akin to the way Super Strength and Martial Arts has alternate animations available.

Probably because the animations aren't exactly the same length in time. Still, is definetly something I would like to see, and I like the current animations. It's just not every gunslinger alt I have should know gun-fu. I'd like to play a traditional cowboy if possible down the line.

This is the problem I have with every/any/all the very stylized sets. Just by virtue of being so stylized they narrow the concepts that they work with.
