PL me!!!!!!!
I dunno. But regarding the WST, hold off on that as long as possible. It gives X bars of bonus XP and a bar of XP at level 45 represents a lot more time and effort that a bar of XP at level 10.

You might try the temp power xp booster, and the Experienced temp as well (but only after you run out of patrol xp)
For other tricks - if you have enough willing friends - teams of 8
provide an xp boost over smaller teams and solo.
Run them at +2/8. Generally speaking, solo or teamed, that provides the greatest return.
Also, doing missions in pvp zones give an extra percentage of xp. (I'm not sure how much. And I know it used to 5 years ago - but I left the game and came back, so that may have changed.)
Mission Arcs upon completion also give a bonus amount of XP. Not 5 bars of xp like the weekly, but every bit helps.
If you had mentioned any experience farming, I'd suggest AE, as the ambush/patrol missions have the npcs coming to you, as opposed to you zig-zagging through missions to find them.
Hope that helps.

Its technically possible to get a 50 in 48 hours without somebody PLing you. it ain't easy. my fastest non-PL character was a Crab Spider in the week after they came out. I got mine in 3 or 4 days, and that was night hours, cause working full time. The fastest guy on the server had it done in less than 24 hours. We just did a crap ton of missions, as fast as we could. Always 7-8 on a team.
The non-PL strategy for me today is very similar. You can get to around 20 in the sewers, with this being hands down the best non-PL experience you'll get. At 20 a large team (7-8) of heroes/villains doing tip missions tends to give good experience. Technically not a PL (I think), but it is pretty easy to get on a 50 team doing these, at least for me. Keep in mind, do not be shy about grabbing a spare Death from Below (sewer) run if you cannot find a team. in the 20s it gives 1/2 level, in the 30s-low 40s a 1/3 level, and late 40s a 1/4 or so. that is better than standing around LFT. Aint no exp in LFT. But, do not grab a TF. There are certain TF that do nothing but eat time, give no exp. Except when you should grab a TF. Katie Hannon and ITF give good exp on a team that knows whats up. Leading a team might not be a bad idea. If you can control the difficulty of the missions you can dial a team to maximize exp earning. Keep in mind this does NOT mean max out the difficulty. Even if a team can handle +2/x4 it might be a lot faster experience set at +0/x8 and just blow through the crowds. Some team members will scream about needing it to be harder to get more exp, but smart money isnt always on upping the difficulty. With a good amount of time set aside of the 48 hours to coffee intake, limiting bathroom breaks, and no sleep, you should have yourself a bright shining new 50. And an attitude that will annoy the crap outta everyone in your general vicinity. gl.
My best advice to you would be to not advertise to pay for a PL on the Help Channel.
No matter what server you may happen to be on.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Isn't there a day job where you get +XP ? Every little bit counts, right?
EDIT: Also, I Seem to remember that Sister P is good for XP. Run it twice!

So despite being a seven year vet (hey Paragon where's my badge!), I'm really bad a power-leveling. What can I say - I play casually, I like running story arcs, and generally just meander my way to 50.
Thing is, this weekend I'm participating in the Real World Hero level-a-thon. And I need to earn as many levels as I can in 48 hours. I know Death from Below has good rewards and the WST will give bonus XP the first time I run it. What are some other tips for leveling fast? |
Obviously the fastest way is using Accelerated Experience (or..AE) with npcs designed to be the weakest against your types of attacks and with their attacks geared to be weak against your type of def/resistance.
However, if this type of experience obtainment is against your play style or you just object to it, I would suggest the following:
Level 1-15: DFB- Try to run it with a full team of 8, as mentioned above, you will get better xp. This should only take you 3 runs so maybe at most 45-75 mins? I wouldn't waste any boosts for at this time, the xp is rolling in fast enough.
Level 15-30: This xp zone will probably give you the most trouble. You won't have a lot of attacks to just mow through mobs and gobble up xp. I would suggest you use your xp boosters for this zone of xp. A synapse will give you a few levels but your xp/min might be slowed by travel time from door to door and zones. I might suggest you do radios/papers because they are in the same zone.
Level 30-35: Katie Hannon- (assuming you are blueside of course) 10 AVs in the first mission... yes please! If you are with a group just trying to get xp, you could always just keep running that first mission then quit the trial and reset.
Level 35-50: WOAH thats a huge jump, nah not really thats the ITF. Just broadcast a "Buzzsaw shard farming ITF" set it to +2, lets not be greedy and run these back to back. The 50's who come (hopefully) may have judgements and destinys to buff the team and the xp should roll in pretty fast.
GL man, its for a good cause.
Run them at +2/8. Generally speaking, solo or teamed, that provides the greatest return.

I have seen literally dozens of pickup teams painfully picking themselves off the floor and limping back from the hospital because they insist on running at +2 when they're just not equipped to do it.
Most level 50 teams can handle +2 because melee characters have fully fleshed-out defenses, squishies have epic shields, and many characters are often IOed out or have incarnate powers. But lower level teams will have trouble if they lack force multiplier characters (ATs with Kinetics, Thermal, Empathy, etc.) or debuffers (radiation, Trick Arrow, Dark Miasma, Sonics, Cold, etc.). If you're running a team at level 30 and you don't have two or three of these characters, or you don't have a tank/brute that can reliably take all the aggro, you're better off running painlessly and efficiently at +0. Stubbornly trying to run at +2 when the team doesn't have the oomph will make you level significantly more slowly.
Remember, if you're not cruisin', you're losin'.
Firstly, it's 'PL MEH!' ;-)
Beyond that I've been 'told' that AE is the fastest way and that it can be done solo. You'd have to find someone who actually uses AE to find the best arc (I'm sure somebody has a custom arc just for that), but I'm sure the 2x8 is just as useful. Either way I'd avoid the pay-2-Lvl even if it is ingame trading.
Also, there's one of the Ouroboros Task Forces where you get to fight all of the 5th Column AVs at once.

yeah, I would prefer a speed itf w/ pros (25-35 min) getting 50-75% of mobs, or a good shard/exp run (45 min to 1:15) Either are much much better Exp than a dead stall 2 1/2 hour ITF (Never encountered one that long myself)
The thing to keep in mind (in my experience) are big teams get big experience, but only when they are grinding fast through big mobs. So, you need to set your difficulty so there is a constant flow of dead (arrested?) mobs. think of it as a spinning saw blade. If the wood is too tough the saw blade stops or slows to where it ain't good. You want the blade spiining at 90% to 100% of capacity, with wood that is as tough as it can get in there and still spin at that rate. it's a different difficulty for every team because of team make up.
Hey folks, just wanted to thank you for all of your advice. CRlMSON CRUSADER leveled to 39 over the course of 48 hours. That translates into $190.00 in pledges to Real World Hero.

Be careful about the difficulty in ITF. From my experience, two 50s with judgements and 6 lowbies had a difficult time with Rom and the AVs. The +2 ITF lasted 2.5 hrs. In terms of xp/min, it wasn't good for PL, since the lowbies accumulated a lot of debt. One lvl 40ish toon had over 300k debt.

Also, just make sure you have a couple of solid debuffers (the more, the merrier). Ill usually run a +2/x2 'kill most' ITF and with debuffs, tend to breeze through it in about an hour...always see people leveling up once/twice during the run.
