cloaked UFO next to Mercury.

More likely possibility:

1) That a race of super advanced aliens who can park a giant cloaked starship next to Mercury (why? No idea...what could there be to study on that rock?) will sit there and let their ship be hit by a billion tons of solar plasma.

or

2) That UFO nuts are...nuts, and this is a computer artifact.

Hmm. Tough call.

Neither - it is lens flare.

Any alien DUMB enough to park their ship so close to our star are either:

1) A bunch of alien jocks seeing how close they can get without melting just for the lulz or,

2) Vastly superior beings showing of for the benefit of Earth observers before they come and obliterate us.

I know which I'd prefer.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the one that shot that beam at me and my friends?

I realize the idea that this is an actual alien spacecraft is very unlikely. But just as a point of discussion if it were an alien spacecraft it could be there because the technology it's using for propulsion requires close proximity to stars for a power source. For all we know it's using some kind of wormhole generator that needs to be close to a star's CMEs to activate. Heck even Star Trek taught us that ships can use the gravity well of a star for time travel.

Corrected that for you.

Interesting article but it takes the fun out of it when they say its a known effect of the photographic enhancement process and its where Mercury was yesterday.

It's been established that Mercury is actually so close to the Sun that its movement in its orbit (from our point of view) is affected by the relativistic effects of the Sun's immese gravity. In effect its appearance to us can only be accurately tracked/predicted when you account for Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Based on that I would imagine that photographing Mercury from Earth will always be a little bit "weird" as far as that goes.

Well, of course, that's what 'they' are gonna say! Everybody who knows about these things knows it's actually lens flare caused by swamp gas from Venus, but will 'they' ever come out and admit it? NO.

Reflected by swamp gas and Venus.

OK.
We don't know that Mercury's orbit isn't perturbed! Maybe it's just very stoic! Didn't think about that, now did ya!

It's not a spaceship, it's an interdimensionally fractalised quantum planetoid viewed through a brief tesseractic flux.
