Anyone know if these are going to be tintable ?
(I really like the villain helmets you get as a paragon reward but wish I could change the colours )

Given the way things have been, I'm betting not.

I would concur with this thought.

If they know what's good for them, yes, we'll be able to tint them.

Sadly, I'm inclined to agree. *sigh*

I think they are actually going to be individual pieces which attach to the half helm. This is based upon the concept art which looks like the half helm (regular for states and warrior(?) for recluse) with a detail 1 and detail 2 attachment. That is just a pet theory though. Either way, I think it will be colorable.

Based upon what exactly?

They are making these pieces from scratch to give to players, not really sure why they would purposefully make them unable to be colored.

edit: I thought you could color (some of?) the villain helmets. can anyone confirm? I thought I remember changing the "lights" on the wolf helm.

Same as the gunslinger set? Made fron scratch for players, still pretinted.

Gunslinger and the Steampunk packs, though Gunslinger has the most egregious examples of it yet.

I haven't seen gunslinger yet.

I thought the original question was about whether we can colorize the pieces at all. What makes you think they are asking about pretint?

Very often with the pretinted items, it's nearly impossible to color things beyond a fairly narrow range. Try coloring a set of gloves yellow, it comes out green because of the pretint. It throws off a lot of stuff. So if these helmets are pretinted silver and black, rather than just using a colorless metallic base, it does wonky things with trying to make colors work. For instance, making the Statesman helmet black in a way that lines up with other black costume pieces becomes problematic.

I understand, but I don't think the OP is asking that.

More and more costume items are coming out with the colors baked in, unchangeable. The OP asked if the new helmets could be tinted different colors.

I'm not putting words in anyone's mouth, but my own. If the OP wasn't asking if they could change the color of the helmets, then I don't know what this thread is about.

I just can't think of a lot of pieces which can't be tinted at all (or have large sections which can't be tinted). Perhaps my own failing.

It's the newer pieces. If you're an old school player, which your forum reg date seems to imply, then you might not notice. Tons of stuff is baked in these days. You buy a set, and then suddenly discover that you can't change half the colors.

Yeah, maybe I just don't use a lot of the newer pieces.

I'm looking forward to seeing how revealing and sexy they can make a female face plate. Like a corset for your face?

Can't wait to see!

I'm sure the goal is to make them fully tintable. It's really early days on these though, so stay tuned.

That...doesn't sound as sure as I'd hoped.

Player's concept of tintable or the current Paragon Studios concept of tintable?

The Helm of Zeus will be available in argent, sterling, silver, and grey.

The Helm of Tartarus will be available in jet, ebony, charcoal, raven, soot, and black.

Just to be clear, (and I asked this in the announcement feedback thread) when we say will it be tintable what we really mean is will it be colourable.

What we dont want to see is a pre-tint colour shifting the palette. Sure, lets go for that realism look with the metallic sheen but we should be able to colour things however we wish, not like the celestial armour where any colour we do apply works more like a tint to the existing baked in coulourization.

My favorite example of this is how the Celestial Armor set looks like white gold when you set it to 100% black.
