How can you tell how many respec tokens do you have left?

If you're like me, you claim everything in your emails in order to declutter the inbox. Unfortunately since my vet respec tokens have now been changed into email form, this also has the side effect of where I now don't know how many respecs I have left remaining on any one character.

Is there a way to see how many you've got left? :/

That seems to only count the ones accessed by /respec, though. Whereas I seem to be able to go see Jack Wolfe (?) in Atlas City Hall and respec again when I run out. What's the story on those?

I'm new-ish. Again.
@Kahzi. Pinnacle, mostly.

But if you do that you're stuck with a lot of things you might not want cluttering up your powers window.

Things like the 4 Prestige Sprints, the non-combat pets, and an assortment of other powers that may or may not be completely useless to the character in question.

I prefer to go through and claim all the stuff I want and leave the unwanted stuff sitting there. It takes a little longer, but I don't have a bunch of useless crap cluttering up my screen.

you could also just type /respec

if you have a freespec you immediatly start the respec, if you do not have a freespec it will say so and say how many earned respecs you have

The only type of respec that the /Respec command accesses is the Free Respec which does not stack and you can only have one of at most.

Yeah but then you have a bunch of useless stuff cluttering up your mail box. I hate seeing the "you have mail' warning.

This is my system as well. One of the things I am always looking for is a new main. the importance of seeing those respecs in the e-mail is the assurance if I throw 5 purple sets and numerous other goodies onto the build I'll be able to strip them right back off when I'm done with it. I have a very finite number of high end enhancers, since I don't market or even run 50 content consistently. Most of my play is alts and looking for fun concepts. So, those respecs left easily viewable in the e-mail is the best indicator I have.

um, no, that was not the OP's point. The OP CLAIMED them all and wants to know how to tell how many he has, now that they are no longer sitting in the mailbox.

If he claimed them all from e-mail, then every time he logs in he'll get a thing in the chat telling him how many he has left.

I know I haven't used all my accumulated Freespecs, but I noticed that it doesn't mention a separate line for them anymore. Any ideas? Have they combined the numbers to safe space?

But yes, relogging into the toon will show you the numbers. ;-)

You can't accumulate Freespecs. You can have one at most. You can accumulate Vet Respecs, Patron Respecs, Trial Respecs, Soldiers of Arachnos Respec, and Purchased Respecs.

And there's a simple way to tell if you have any freespecs. You type /respec and if it goes into a respec screen, you've got one. (You can hit back to exit.) If it tells you to see Wolfe or Lupin, you don't. (But you will the next time they hand one out.)

As MythBusters would say, "Well, there's your problem right there!"

I'm far less concerned about a red Email label than I am about knowing what
I have available, so I only ever claim Account/Character stuff if that particular
toon needs it or plans to use it.

I realize that's not a great answer for you now, but leaving stuff unclaimed
has been the most reliable way for me to know what specialty stuff I have
on my various toons.

I'd have to disagree on that as before I 'retired' the last time (just after i13 released) I would login to something like "You have X Respecs and Y Freespecs". I do have something scratching at the back of my mind though about a change semi-recently which basically nulled you down to 1 max now that I think about it. Then again, what i'm calling Freespecs is basically something other than the earned ones you used to max out with (3?), but it's been so long so eh.

At this point freespecs mean anything you /respec to use.

Bought, Recipe, and Holiday respecs are all freespecs - as such you can't use them on a character that has a freespec waiting.

Freespecs have ALWAYS been one max, which is why the devs always announce a freespec coming - they're use 'em or lose 'em. It's why several times, historically, freespecs have been granted twice for one issue/change, because the first grant came with too little (or no) advance warning.

The login announcement has ALWAYS only said "# respecs", and has never differentiated between earned and free respecs.

Take a look at the Talk Page for Respecs. Part of the conversation there in June 2008 (pre-I13) includes a link to a screen shot that shows 8 respecs and doesn't differentiate between Freespecs and earned Respecs.

edit: Additionally, I found a screenshot from 2006 on a character that never got past 20 until this year and this was pre-I8 (vet respecs). It says "You have 1 unclaimed respecs available." The only type of respec that character could have is a freespec, and it is not identified as such. I can post the shot if needed.

I'd have to disagree because it was NEVER like that.
Is it possible you are thinking of another game?
