Slide power

Just out of curiosity, is the slide power available to purchase anywhere in the market? I haven't been able to find it.

The Prestige Power Slide? No, and probably will not be available for the foreseeable future, according to Zwil (as he's been told from above).

Not for sale. According to the devs through Freedom Friday chats on Facebook, it won't ever be too.

That's too bad, as it suits one of my guys perfectly. I understand not wanting to sell items that were rewards, bonuses with purchases or give-aways in the past, but AFAIK, there is now no way to ever obtain it, correct? It cannot be earned in game, to my knowledge.

There is no way to earn it in-game. The only way to get it is to find the old DVD Collectors Edition of CoH and hope the code works.

Correct. For some reason, someone in NCSoft or Paragon Studios wants to keep the DVD Collector Edition stuff from CoH and COV exclusive to the DVD. Even though, in the case of the CoH DVD, it's been out of print for years, and purchasing a new copy from Amazon.com will cost you $85. And you thought the cost for the German Shepherd was outrageous

Only silly people buy it at $85!

I picked three up for $10 each at Big Lots. It was a couple years ago now, but I still keep my eye out for things. That's how I recently (according to my Master Account, around the end of August) picked up two CoV collector's for $2 each at another discount store (I forget the name now) - one for me and one for my fiance.

I bought the DVD and Villain collectors from Amazon about a year, year and half ago. Love my power slide, all my alts use it

Don't know if this still applies with EU and US merged, but I accidentally got an EU version of the CoV collectors and couldn't use it on my account. Fortunately I was able to work out a deal with NCSoft.

I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, Keep me here!

It just seems a bit odd to me that they would want to make an item permanently unavailable. If it were something that could be earned, I would understand not selling it. Or even vice-versa. But to make it impossible to obtain seems a bit silly. I am sure I am not the only one who would like to get it.

There's probably some new players who would buy it if they could.

Anyhow, I'm not gonna argue it or anything. It just seems like an odd decision. I never see it being used in game.

So since you never see it being used in the game why would the company decide to sell it since it isn't being used by the people that actually bought the CoH Collectors DvD?

Seems kind of silly to sell something that no one is interested in.

Just pointing out how odd your statement sounds. Personally, I think they should sell the perk pack they used to have for this power again.

Just to sharpen the opposite edge of that sword you're swinging if "no one" is using the power then it makes very little sense for the Devs to keep it strictly exclusive forever. To my knowledge it is now the ONLY power being maintained in such an arbitrarily exclusive manner.

I'm not technically arguing that the Devs should start selling it in the Paragon Market tomorrow. But by the same token I see no logical reason why the Devs could not (or perhaps should not) eventually sell it there at some point. The only reason holding them back is that the Devs -want- to be arbitrarily restrictive about it and as time goes on that excuse seems to become more and more silly. *shrugs*

Personally, it's been a few years since I've seen either DVD box at Big Lots. Last time I went looking, my locations barely carried any PC games at all. Plus, not everyone has access to the Big Lots store chain.

IMPO, as a guy who got the DVDs years ago, I think still having these as exclusive unlocks, when it's hard for many people to find the DVD codes new, is unnecessarily punitive with the advent of the Paragon Market.

I like being one of the few that has power slide. It's like a cool badge that a few have.

I be sad if it became easy to get for others, but not angry or rage quit, just sad.

why would this not be avail. If it is not avail that does not make sense and is stupid. Sell it one more reason to burn PPs. It has to be for sale everything else is. Why not this. DOnt give me some stupid because were vets or cause we paid for a box etc...

Then this game is doomed. Every thing is on the table now. Its F2P thats the deal!

Note that i said I never see it, which is not the same as "nobody who has it uses it.". I'm sure that people who have it use it fairly often. I just don't see anyone using it, which makes me think it is pretty rare. Then again, I tend to play when there aren't too many other people online.

I hadn't seen Zombie Man's thread before he linked to it, but that right there shows that I am not alone in wanting it. There have been a number of "exclusive" things that have become widely available. I don't understand the rationale behind not allowing anyone to have this ever again.

to kind of bring another example in for comparison, when GR was offered as a preorder from gamestop for those special enhances that worked at all lvls and provided procs to <lvl21, when those were offered as rewards for high tier in the paragon rewards program i think its similar situation to this except they actually brought back the preorder items (they did the same thing for the preorder cov helms)

why they wont do it for this is mind boggling (and personally i am a little peeved i preordered from gamestop when i could have saved that $50 although i do like the desdemona mousepad lol)

personally the only thing im after is the bloody badge that came with the dvd collector edition lol

It does still apply & you were luckier than me - they didnt do any deals for me with it (eu CoV collectors) ):

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

Eh, I have it but I don't find it useful frankly. I did use it for one character 5 years ago from level 1-14, then I got a real travel power and never touched it again.

What the heck, if anyone wants the silly thing why not give it to them. It's just Sprint with a different animation.

We've been told it's not the devs decision. Someone in authority has said no and the policy won't change until they leave the company. Put the blame where it really belongs. On corporate.

As much as I'd LOVE for the prestige power slide to be on the market, this is a flawed comparison. The only Items available through the Veteran/ParagonRewards program are the pre-order (in-game) perks*. You paid nothing extra for the pre-order, you paid the full price, as everyone else did (barring any sales that may occur in the future), but got a perk for doing so early. Thus, people who did not pre-order could eventually gain those perks with sufficient veteran status. This is true for the four other prestige sprints, the CoV helmets, and the special GR enhancements.

The Collectors editions were boxed sets that cost more- price on store shelves 7 years later not withstanding. But they came packaged with extra bits; including codes for exclusive in-game items (cape of the 4 winds + p.p.slide [CoH dvd collectors], Arachnos symbol cape + chest emblem [CoV Collectors]).

Again, I'm not arguing against the collectors edition items being included in the Paragon Market, even at a rediculous premium price. Just that it is a flawed comparison, as it has been in the past when anyone brought up the inclusion of the sprints/helmets in the veteran program.

*I'm not sure if I ever got that mousepad - I did get the code though. Oh well, I have a superior mousepad featuring the 11 doctors.

The difference between this and the Pre-Order bonuses is the bonuses were free, we paid money for the CE stuff.
