Premiums and SG's

OK, I know that a premium has to be at least Paragon Rewards Tier 2 in order to join an SG, but at what level can a premium:

1) invite others into an SG,
2) promote others
3) modify storage permissions, etc.

Is that included with the Tier 2?

(I'm basically trying to figure out if it's worth the hassle to set up a premium account just to have a toon of my own to use to invite my other alts into my solo SG's)

as far as I know, the only thing a premium player cannot do SG-wise is interact with the SG registrar - so no creating an SG, or opening a base or paying rent. Someone said they cannot also be the Super Leader but I'm not sure about that.

Tier 2 can become superleader. I did that with my second account to transfer the superleader position, but they only had it long enough to switch characters. I didn't try to change any permissions.

I heard premiums couldn't edit bases, but I'm not sure if that's still the case.

And an SG's what? SGs don't own anything.

I am told that is a valid, if disputed, way of pluralizing an acronym. The apostrophe represents the missing "roup".

I don't like it anymore than you do - it seems me that, in that case, it should be "S'G's" - but there you go.

The way the initial patch notes read, there was an implication that only VIP's would be able to edit bases.
It seems that someone's definition of "edit" meant "interacting with the SG registrar to start up a base or pay rent".

As I understand it, if a Premium toon in an SG (invited or pre-existing member) is of a rank that allows edit permission (by the SG's settings), they will be able to use the base editor.
Keep in mind, however, that since a Premium toon will not be able to pay rent, an SG will need at least one VIP account/toon to maintain the base power/functionality.

No, it has not changed.
A Free or Premium account cannot interact with the SG registrar at City Hall. Therefore, they cannot pay rent.
You will need a VIP account holder in your SG to pay the rent, if you want your base to be maintained.

Just have a VIP friend join your SG long enough to pay your rent, problem solved.

This is a restriction in which the workaround is so easy I wonder why the devs even bothered with the restriction.

Likely a side effect of preventing Free or Premium players from starting a Supergroup. Easier to block a contact outright than make only some interactions with that contact work depending on the player's VIP status.

Indeed.
You will need to implement this work around at least once every 6 weeks.

Or avoid the rent problem entirely by not using the items that incur rent in the base.

So...create a base, but don't put things like Porters, Rez Stations, Invention Tables, or Storage in it?

And then there's the whole base lockdown after 6wks thing right?!

If your base contains none of the things on the list I linked to above, your rent will be zero, and will stay open forever

Invention table doesn't incur rent. Porters don't incur rent. Storage pieces, worktables, empowerment stations, rez ring stuff (but not the rez ring itself).

Furthermore you only need worktables when you are actually crafting items for the base. You can sell the worktables back and not incur any rent for them.

And for those that don't want to click on the link provided earlier by another poster, these are the 10 items that incur a rental fee.

  1. Storage Items (per bin)
  2. Auto-Doc / Tree of Wonders
  3. Combat Logs / Contemplation Charts
  4. Robo-Surgery / Spirit Signal
  5. Advanced Worktable / Advanced Forge
  6. Expert Worktable / Expert Forge
  7. Robotic Fabricator / Flames of Hephaestus
  8. Radiation Emulator / Enchanting Crucible
  9. Linear Accelerator / Arcane Crucible
  10. Supercollider / Mystic Crucible

It's a storage item, but it doesn't cost rent. My tiny little base has one, plus porters, and basic worktable, and I pay nothing for rent.

The primary point was that a decently functional base gets locked out after 6wks right?

Nope. One can have a decently functional base without ever buying an item that incurs rent.

Only people that don't want to subscribe but want personal storage bases have a problem getting locked out after 6 weeks.

And the devs have made their position quite clear to us even tho we don't like it, that solo SG's/bases go against the intended design created by the devs and they will not do anything to make it easier to create and operate them. They were designed to be used by groups of players.

I didn't mean to infer that I was promoting single-player bases explicitly, but such limitations do affect groups as well. I mean, what happens if a group decide that they need to go preem for a while (IE: bills>game)...

NM, OP was talking about solo base and we're O/T.
