The only Hero tip mission I can't stand

Destory the bomb triggers!

Maelstrom is 95% invisible even with your video card at ultra settings so there is a good chance of just walking past him.

Sometimes maelstrom is in the first group you find and it's not any different than any other mission, kill him and kill until you find the triggers ( perfect mission like it should be ALWAYS )

BUT! other times you can go into an empty room and nothing is there, then clear the rest of the whole map only to find the empty room is not empty anymore... maelstrom and mob are now there. then after you've killed maelstrom the bomb triggers are usually on the other side of the map where you just were 5 minutes ago. It's like a tripple fake out.

I hate the fact that he's invisible, I hate the fact that he doesn't spawn when the mission starts.

There are few I would prefer not to do but this one is on my banned list!

He's with a named boss and has dialogue, once you know that he's really not that hard to find.

I do hate the way Tip Missions spawn objectives though, "Destroy the bomb triggers" is far from the only one that requires backtracking.

/bind <key> TargetName Mael

That's what I type in when I have that mission. I just go through spamming that key and that will find him.

Until he decides to fall through the floor. I had that Tip a week or so back, and he showed up on my minimap. I went back to the rather large room he was in, and as soon as I entered the room, he was no longer on the minimap. I killed everything, and still nothing. I had a friend come in, and there was no Maelstrom.

I also used /petiton, but gave up after an hour of wating, and reset the tip mission.

You can always use CoHRadar. I usually fire it up when there is no final objective marker and can't find the blinkie or whatever it is I'm looking for.

Also, for bugged missions where the final objective is truly missing, it's great to be able to send in the bug report: A demorecord of the map shows the objective is simply not spawned. This way they know I'm not some mope who can't find it.

I can sympathize, but that one isn't the one I really hate. I dislike the one with all the Knives of Artemis. They aren't even a threat, but running in slow motion every fight gets old really quick.

Some of these missions are annoying more than others. I usally use a Macro or Bind to target specific characters as suggested above not only in Tip missions but any mission where you need to find a specific target.

The Maelstrom one can be annoying if you happen to miss the NPC chat the first time around, though it's not the worst in my eyes. I refuse to do the "Save Black Panther 952" mission. Waiting through almost 10 minutes of Malta ambushes? No thanks.

Maelstrom always stands close to the Vampire Commander - and there is only one of those in the mission. Should not be hard to find after VC is dead.

The Knives of Artemis mission is by far my least favorite. It is just a badly conceived mission with the KoA slowing down everything to a crawl and having to lead an invisible target back through 3 floors of ambushes. This one I always skip or auto-complete.

My non-Master Mind characters also skip the Malta "Save Panther 952" mission. Too many darned irritating Sappers for the Scrappers and Brutes to deal with.

I actually like the black panther mission because you get to team with frostfire and he's cool. Though it makes me sad that gaining 50 levels made him lose the ability to summon imps and jackfrost at the same time.

Not always. He was at the end of the map in the run I mentioned above, where he vanished. And when I reset it, he was in the middle of the map. Meanwhile, the VC spawned in the first room both times.

I wonder if this is due to the fact that they changed the maps for a lot of the Tip Missions...?

I'd rather have to hunt down Maelstrom five times than to rescue those three airheads trying to join the carnies.

Edit: And I hate that the hero morality mission in the 30's requires rescuing Doc Quantum from Longbow. Cause I wish they really would kill the jerk.

The only thing I don't like about Maelstrom is how he teleports out after he should be dead. It's like your annoying neighbor kid saying, "No, you missed me! You missed me again! I escape unharmed! Nyaa!"

I soooo want to pound his head into the sand permanently. In fact I'm in the habit of talking back to him in local chat even though I usually run these missions solo. He says, "But whose side are you on?" And I reply, "I'm on the side of kicking your sorry a$$."

An invisible target who is the only person on the map that CAN'T see my Hidden Stalker.

I kind of despise the villain choice for a "Vial of Pulsating Liquid". Playing a dominator and having to face down 2 orange con bosses resistant to most mezzes from the start, and then another two for every 'souped up' Longbow you run into (who can get taken out by the bosses you're forced to face). I won't run it anymore doing the villain choice, it's not worth the debt :P

My main Hero Tip character is an /Elec scrapper, so I put Spin on auto and go make a cup of tea.

I don't even remember what that mission is, I just automatically recoiled in horror from the screen when I saw the name :-)

There is that mission redside in Nerva where you hunt down Minx that includes getting a blocker to shut down the Rikti-based mediporter so you can actually capture her.

I would LOVE a villain or vigilante morality mission where you use that tech to give Maelstrom a severe thrashing/murder him.
