Question for League Emps: Ideal Hitpoints?
I haven't played the game for three years and even I can tell you that 50 hp won't be enough to save you if you're going to die anyways. Go for the extra range.

50 HP can be the difference between getting away with 10 HP off an AP and dieing... My emp is missing Invader and their's times where I will die in AP after phasing from delayed damage where I would have lived with an extra 50 HP.
On an emp, that 50 HP can be pretty important... On other squishies (Rad for example) I think that 50 HP is somewhat less important. When you AP on an emp all you have to rely on is your HP, so that's why I would lean towards the HP.
I guess if I were you I would feel out how comfortable evading on your emp you are, and base if off that.
Having 50 HP less than cap won't break the toon, but I think there would be times where you would wish that you had it.

1550 Hp vs 1606 HP
Is there a noticeable difference in survivability between the two? I'm currently on 1594 HP. Is it worth trading some of that HP to get +range on the heals? |
Pretty much a good trade off for the xtra range as long as your + heal and + recharge do not suffer too much. Since your good at evasion and carry greens that 35 hp will not make a difference but + 30% range means you are getting a heal off that much sooner. I am guessing ill/emp and slotting blind and flash with glad nets?

Stick with more HP and +Heal Mod, tell your blasters to stick with the spike group/target caller and range won't be a huge issue.
Or, realistically, you don't need to choose. You can have epic range and the HP. Even cheap Emp builds reach nearly cap HP, if not cap, while still having additional range.
You really should be able to hit the HP cap without trying overly much. What's your overall range bonus?

Just wanted to echo what Lib and Jimmay said about +Heal bonuses, because that can also be important for an 8v8 Emp, incase you weren't considering that also.

Cardiac gives a lot of range. Depending on what team a healer is emping for and against, either one may be better.

T4 Cardiac gives about 12ft range boost (assuming a heal with 2 range IO's and 35% global range)

Real emps don't need either, if you know where they are going to spike next then range is not nessesary...
To be fair, what's needed and what's nice to have are two different things.
