Team disbands automatically at the end of SSA.. why
I just figured it was part of the Signature Story Arc thing. Technically they're a TF, but... different. I could conceivably solo it without being purpled out, so its a bit of a different beast.
Thats my guess anyway, but then I'm not a Dev!

Task Forces do that. When the leader calls in the last mission, the TF automatically disbands. Since the SSAs accomplish their level-locking trick by using the TF mechanism, well, that's what you get.
I did two SSAs with my fiance and a mutual friend back to back on Thursday and neither one disbanded.

I don't remember this happening with the first SSA or any other TF I played. Yes, the TF things goes away but the team stays.

Most TF's I've been on the leader doesn't bother calling the contact at the end since (with a few exceptions) the rewards are all given out before that step and everyone goes their seperate ways.
Edit: I can say that doing so does not always disband the team. After running Apex last week we decided to all just go ahead and roll on into a Tin Mage and didn't get disbanded.

@Inquisitor
I did the SSA (redside) thrice with two other people, one of them said 'reform after you call the contact because we'll disband' and well, I called and nothing, the team remained, I went to the contact again and we did it twice more.
After this the third person logged out, me and the one who talked about the disbanding switched toons, we did it twice more as a duo (she was the leader this time) and both times she called the contact we disbanded. She said maybe it happened because we were a duo now (she had only duo'ed it, I only had soloed it prior to that day), but from your example it seems like it's not the case.

They must be using old code for the framework of the signature arcs, then. (shrug)

After thinking about it a bit i decided i don't know enough about how it works to really make a good guess as to why.
Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...
Okay from that mix of replies I think its safe to assume that it isn't always happening but has happened to different people at different times.. Sounds buggy to me and next time it happens I will submit a report.
Thanks all

I've been running the sig arcs across a lot of my toons since release and the consistent behavior that I've experienced is that if there are 2 people on the team, it will always disband, if there are more, then the team will remain.
I've not seen any other behavior and I've done a lot of sig arc runs over the last 3 weeks.

No.. wish i could say that was the issue but on friday we had mostly 7-8 man teams and the same thing kept happening. From what i read in response to my original post I think its a hit or miss bug and if I see it happen again I will send a bug report to Tech support and they can TRY to figure it out. Problem is if it is random.. they may take 20, 30 or more tries to get it to happen for them or it may happen the first time they try. Hey that's their problem not mine

Hrm. I ran it 18 times yesterday, all on different characters, and didn't have the team disband once.
Interesting...
I've 2-boxed this (parts 1 and 2) and even teamed with other people a few times, probably coming up on a total of about 80 times now. Each and every time, without fail, it's disbanded when I called in at the end. 100%.

Yup, it's happening to me and my gaming partner to. But not EVERY time. I'd say probably 98% of the time. It's very annoying.
In my experience, the SSA always auto-disbands if there are only two players in the team, never seen it do it with three or more.

I've dual boxed it a number of times and it disbanded every time. When I am teamed with other people, not always. One possibility that I'll have to check - it may have to do with having someone in the level range. I currently have no toons in the level range (no one between 4 and 39 at the moment). When I have been teaming with other people, they frequently bring someone who is just high enough to join.

The title pretty much says it all but to expand a bit...

On Friday a couple of my friends from the SG and I decided to run the new Signature Story Arc. Now all three of us are 50 levels so we ran it multiple times to get the 10 threads, astral, 20 merits, and hero merit. We invited other players to join us and had several 8 man teams and a couple with 5 or 6. Players did come and go but the three of us stayed .. however at the end of each arc we ran when we called the contact the team was automatically dissolved. I don't mean the TF was over and we reverted back to 50 levels I mean it kicked everyone from the team and we had to start all over. I have never seen any other TF, SF, or Trial that did that so why is this one 3 mission TF/Arc booting us when we are done.. maybe we want to run other missions together (or the same missions again).
Well tonight another friend and I decided to do Part 1 again and grab an added 20 merits .. and as soon as we completed the third mission, stepped outside, and called the contact.. Team was gone (and there were only 2 of us). So it's happening with both part 1 and part 2 and with different players on different nights. Makes me feel like its not a fluke but a small bug.
Has anyone else noticed this occurring.. or has COH decided to try and annoy me
Seriously.. any body else seeing this same thing and does anyone KNOW why its occurring.
