was I tricked? (VIP)

I had a bright idea to leave my sg on Freedom server and switch 2 of my favorite toons to Exalted (VIP). My thoughts were that all the paid players would switch over and there would be some kick a** groups and teams... My Freedom server had 2 yellow dots as well as the Exalted server.. I made the transfer.. I knew I was in trouble when there was no one standing at the BM at Cap. So then I hit the pocket D Vip button... " Bam" 2 people on the dance floor...? Quickly I bought 2 more transfers and back on Freedom.. Was I tricked by the 2 yellow dots on the Exalted display?

Most of my friends who are VIP players on Virtue didn't plan on moving to Exalted. If anything, they were going to make alts there and level new toons.

Personally, I would've made a new character and check things out before moving anyone over.

Also, the server status dots tend to flux to I don't know how reliable they really are. I've seen Virtue go from Yellow to Red to Green to Red in the course of 10 minutes (when swapping toons for stuff).

Either way, I think in time Exalted's population will rise but it's only been a live server for a few weeks...

Nobody in Cap? That sounds... odd. What time of day? Did you use /search to double check?

No, you weren't tricked. Server load <> server population, even if it can serve as an indication of a populous server, it should not be relied on in this way.

IMHO, it's only a matter of time before Exalted joins the green dot servers as the new shininess wears off and people migrate back to the "real" servers.

Splitting your population needlessly is just never a good idea. Especially when it comes with additional costs, as an additional server does.

The dots have to do with server load and not how many people are on (so there is a relationship, but it is not as simple as red is a lot, and green in none). So in that sense, you were not tricked, but perhaps misunderstand server load. At least that is what I have been told over the years.

Tricked by yourself, apparently.

There's lots of activity in low level Atlas (generally several instances). Not sure about iTrials, since I'm just leveling and don't have any 50s I transferred over, but I know a lot of people transferred Incarnates over there. Not looked at Villain side since launch there, but, likely, it's mostly a wasteland just like the Rogue Isles on Villains- at least in comparison to blue.

The dots do not indicate population but, server load. While population contributes to server load, it is not the only factor. Since we do not know the specs on each server you cannot really make a comparison of the server loads, TBH. Many try to tough.

I really would not say you were tricked but, may have used an assumption rather than fact to make the decision.

Most of the toons on Exalted are lowbies and most of the transfers are just people selling PL services, so if you want to get teams it's best to roll new characters.

A couple of things. One, red side always has a lower population than blue side. Second thing, many of the Incarnate trials on Exalted seem to be forming in the Rikti War Zone sadly.

... Uh, what? Yes, most of the toons on Exalted are lowbies, but I'd hardly say that most of the level 50 transfers are people selling PL services. I've transferred over four level 50 toons myself, and everyone in my SG has transferred over at least one level 50 toon each.

Well, for one, you were playing villain side. Isn't that side almost always empty?

Not on Freedom/Virtue.

Also, on Exalted I only have a level 10 Blaster redside, but there was plenty of activity. As it's been said, mostly lowbies are playing there.

The help channel for example is always active, and I did my Positrons on my ice/time corr easily, assembled one of them in 5 minutes, the other I joined (I was the first to join after the leader) and was ready in 10.
