Why I hate the new Tutorial

I did like the old tutorials, this is true, and I wish they were still available as alternate true tutorial zones instead of just accessible through ouro, but I also think that the new one is a gigantic waste of something that could have been insanely good. Each to their own, but I'm clearly not alone in despising the new 'tutorial' map. It's CoH dumbed down so much it's insulting. And I think that new players learn the wrong lessons from it if they learn anything at all.

Yes, I will. The new tutorial has a nice epic feel to it. Makes me feel very heroic.
Try doing it without worrying about getting hit by anything, and ignore the Giant Shivan, and you'll soon realise how irrelevant your hero is to Galaxy.

No, but Im sure lots of gamers have their own preferred defaults for 3rd person games, which might not neseccarily be the ones CoH defaults to. I always invert the mouselook up/down settings, for example. Every 3rd person game I play, I use the same key setups.

You don't need to run away, since he can't kill you and will die in a minute anyway. In beta I used to just run up and do the /chicken emote at the 'GM'.

How people still think they are needed in that instance is beyond me.

Are there any other examples of fights in the game in which toons can be victorious simply by zoning in and going AFK?

This thread is replicating many threads in Beta, basically.

I was just talking about the mission up until that point - "Quick! We're getting attacked by ineffectual rocks - run thatta way!" You're about as heroic as Suzie the secretary, except you beat up 5 things before running. Epic heroism there.

Well the old tutorial may be boring but for first timers it provided a lot of information in a slow methodical, take your time and read what's being said, way. Slow and boring but informative.

The new tutorial is shear chaos followed by a half a dozen pop help topics that don't really give you a hands on feel of the subject matter.

That's rather unlikely, because the in-game timeline doesn't really work like that.
They've already addressed the second Rikti invasion storyline, but the RWZ is still there - and once they've finished the Praetorian storyline, they're not going to remove the GR content form the game.
