I'm assuming it's a parody of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trailer? I saw the Swedish movie on Netflix, but haven't seen any of the trailers (presumably, the parody is of the American version?).

You may already know this, but that movie is the first part of the Millennium trilogy, with The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest. They're recommended. But no, it didn't look anything like the English trailer.

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

Muppets doing a parody of that movie? That's like them doing a parody of Blue Velvet, Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a pretty hard R, at least the original Swedish version.

Just the trailer, I believe. Most of the trailers for the upcoming muppet movie (that I've seen) have been parodies of other movie trailers.

Yea I know, it just seems odd to parody a movie that's likely a hard R to drum up interest for a PG movie.

The target audience for these trailers seem to be adults with nostalgia. The Hangover trailer was also based on something not kiddie friendly.

The Muppet Show has always played at two levels - funny animals and slapstick for the kids, language with double, triple, and quadruple entendres and obscure references for the adults.
