Barbarian Set

Well, that is stupid and annoying. Fix it, Paragon! I didn't pay 400 points to have a bare-handed barbarian woman! :P

The set is pretty nice alright. I just wish the male belt could be worn by females too.

I wish they had fur cloaks to match or helmet/hide made out of animal hides. http://www.steverosenbach.com/blog/w...ules_hydra.jpg

Maybe they will make a 2nd Barbarian or tribal set in the future.

I will miss you City of Heroes..

Hrm. I didn't see a loin cloth... all I saw were furry briefs.

A rose by any other name would still hide your junk. I like the costume piece regardless

Don't get me wrong: I like the briefs, but I'd *really* like a loin cloth (for all three models).

The set is ace. Save one little thing.

The boots have witch feet.
The foot looks so long and wrong.

Compare the foot to the high heels boot, and the barbarian/witch feet look hideous.
REALLY with they'd fix them up sometime.

I dunno, they all look like they'd be rather painful to walk in, let alone fight.

Don't know what you are talking about, Sapphic, ALL high-heels look absurd to me.

Yes, yes and YES!

The which heels are one of the worst boot designs I've seen in my life, and that's saying something. The foot looks like it's a mile long, and it just looks wrong. I remember a girl from my school was facing a similar problem with poorly-chosen heels for her prom. She was a tall girl who wore shoes the same size as mine (and I have big feet), which made it really questionable why she picked heels with very long pointed toes. It made her feet look cartoony.

The Barbarian heels aren't nearly as bad as the Witch heels, even if they're still bad, but I honestly lost any reason to complain about them when I saw women also had actual Barbarian boots. That's one usable boot out of the pack, and it's more than I was expecting. Far as I'm concerned, that's more than enough.

Of course, if you go by normal human proportions, the ration of the length of the foot to the length of the leg is probably MORE correct in the witch's boot than in the others, but we've been so conditioned for the game's rather long-legged style that it throws us off.

I've not paid close enough attention to bother comparing the length of the feet to the length of the forearms (sans slider adjustments), but I wouldn't be shocked to find that the witch-boot-foot was more appropriately proportioned.

Unless one can't use it with Monstrous legs, that is.

I like some of the armor bits, but since it's just another set that completely ignores characters with Monstrous legs (which is odd seeing as how many pieces could fit monster and minotaur themes so well), it's even less useful than the Valkyrie set, which at least had the armored wings.

Not looking at purchasing this set in the near future.

Eh, the comment was more directed on how odd it is to focus on one body element when others are so out of proportion...

I can't quite make out the knee in the screenshot provided but:

- The length of the foot is often cited as 1/6 to 1/7 the height of the body.
- From below the foot to below the knee is 1/4 an average person's height.

Generally speaking, this would suggest that two foot-lengths should exceed the distance from the bottom of the foot to the knee. Virtually all feet in CoH would actually fit two below the knee, so the larger feet are closer to that particular proportion than the smaller ones.

I still find the witch (and the bridal) feet to be my least favorite....

Whether or not the boot is in proportion doesn't really impact its appearance that it is a mile long. For instance, the hands on the Male model are HUGE, but they don't look out of proportion to my eyes because the rest of the Male body is pretty bulky. The Witch Boots may or may not be the proper length, but they're not the proper shape to e legs of this length. Much of the boot is quite obviously a hollow toe, unless your feet have toes longer than the fingers on your hands. If it were a flat boot with enough volume to have an actual foot in it, I might feel differently, but it's an elevated heel (which should make the footprint smaller) that's bent in such a way that you can't have a real foot in it that goes all the way to the end unless you have alien tentacles for feet.

Well, that's why you take Hover and Fly!

The Barbarian Warhammer and Barbarian Axe are pretty weak. The Axe in particular looks like a tomahawk at best. The warhammer looks delicate.

As cool as the Barbarian Mace is, the others just are lame. Same for the shield -- "hey lets just redo the targe model but make it metal." O Rly?

I'm going to complain about the barbarian shoulders for huge models too -- weak.

They did some stuff great, like the loin cloth and rings and mace, some stuff Ok like the male boots (santa boots?), and some stuff missed by a mile.

I was disappointed that the Barbarian shield wasn't bigger, but I don't blame them for keeping to a smaller standard. I suppose it's more in keeping with the genre. I can't really excuse the two Mace options and the Axe, though - those have no reason to be this small.

I cant believe there are not female versions of those bracelets.
They are too awesome! Even have a tight version...
Been waiting for those, or the old bracers/wristbands to be updated to have a tight versions since 5 years ago!
I want the chest ringstraps for females too, but I can understand those works worst with chest sliders and females got tons of corset options but no gloves at all is a mistake!
Males should get some kind of tiara ported too...
I love the pack and I think is one of the best to date but the old female bracers looks dated compared to this new ones

Looking for Barbarian parts, here's where I've found mine:

Male, Female and Huge alike:

Lower Body:

-> Legs -> Tight -> Barbarian (dimensional loincloth for him, reflective metal bikini bottom for her)

-> Boots -> Several Barbarian models for her, at least one for him

Upper Body:

-> Chest -> Tights with Skin -> Barbarian (reflective bikini top for her)

-> Chest Detail (only on Tight or Tights with skin) -> Several Barbarian chest details (ring straps including 2 off center ones! yay! for him, bodices and "armor" for her)

-> Shoulders (only on Tight or Tights with skin) -> Several Barbarian details (armor shoulders, upper arm bands, all for his, her and huge and awesome metallic armlets for her)

-> Gloves (only on Tight or Tights with skin) -> A couple Barbarian options per gender

-> Belts (only on Tight or Tights with skin) -> One Belt model per gender

NOTE: Many of these parts have 2 options under the skin for the item, i.e. I think the female parts come in banded or belted. This is similar to how several legacy belts got folded into the "standard" belt selection ages ago. With that in mind, there are many many items hiding in this set. 400 points for this was a steal IMO and is far and away much better and more versatile than the last couple booster pack sets we got under the old business model.

ALSO NOTE: That loin cloth is hiding in a tricky spot. I personally expected it to be under kilts. It is not. It's under tights.

Admittedly I haven't checked all the weapons sets to see if we get extras of those. Looked like there might be barbarian weapons in the per item sections of the Paragon Store.

And as an aside, just discovered the Celestial Pistols the other night. Love those!
