Important Things To Know About I21 Release Day
I can get to about Resources but then can't find transgaming.
Any explanations? |
Also, still curious about if I even need to do all this if I totally avoid the store on a mac?
....anyone?

I know this is a potentially bad situation and why it happened but all we can do now is survive it and beat it. I'll probably be out on the roads when I21 goes live, but later this evening I'll do what I can to intercept and either fix or work around any problems.
As I said before, I do hope the devs learn something from this and I also hope it prompts more Mac users to get involved with testing.
P.S. In all fairness, Zwillinger is caught in the middle of this. He doesn't really have the power to fix things, but it's still his job to post here representing those who can. My somewhat scathing posts were aimed at the engineers and devs, not Zwillinger. Keep that in mind when you reply.

And now I'm on the last few steps, and it appears c_drive can not be modified, not allowing me to replace the old information?
|
I hope that helps!

I am presuming that what you are trying to do is to put the "coh old" folder that you made on your desktop BACK into the c_drive folder. If this is correct.. first make sure that you have renamed the folder back to coh... and then again OPTION click and move it into your c_drive folder. This will prompt you if you want to replace it... it also is merely copying what you have on your desktop back in. (you can simply try to move it back in if you don't want to keep a copy.. but I am not trusting the updater today, so I am keeping a copy of my preferences on the desktop.)
I hope that helps! |
Even with all that done, it doesn't allow any modifying of any kind. There is always a crossed out circle when I drag it, and the same error message arises.
Even after following the steps already given and your own.
-For whatever reason, the file is locked.

hmm. I send a PM to Winterminal about this and am waiting to hear back til any of us answer. Did your game at least patch up all the way?
|
Everything seemed to go fine, till the Launcher showed no signs of change and continues to be unwilling to open. Hmm.
When I went to patch it is when all this started.
The Launcher, which I've used before, says its not compatible for this version of mac.

Are you logged in with an Administrator or a limited account? Also if NC Launcher or COH is running the application will be locked.

**Now with all that aside, the only problem is 10. Run the NCSoft Launcher and patch up to date.

Kail, would you mind posting what version of OSX you are running? If you don't know, you can find out by clicking on the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner and selecting "About this Mac."
Different versions of OSX have required different tweaking, so that should help us give more detailed feedback.

I'm going to venture a guess that you're using Mac OS 10.5.8. If that's true, then ta daa, more fixes! This is from the post by Winterminal last night:

Have tried changing it to 10.5 and hasn't worked. Also followed the steps in this thread. It hasn't worked either. Patch has downloaded, but CIDER keeps trying to update and keeps coming back with "Download failed! Error - File doesn't exist (null)"
I'm more happy about this then upset! This means the support has an answer. Phew!
|
Hope it helps you get back to playing!

Exactly when does Cider start to download? i.e. When you open the NCLauncher, when you click "Play Now" for CoH, etc.

You're correct. I'm using 10.5.8
Currently it starts to download upon launch. If I select no, then it starts up when I click Play now.
Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else consider these workarounds to be ridiculous? After a long day of work and a few added hours of school afterwards, the last thing I want to have to do when I try to relax and run a few missions is fumble around with getting the game started.
Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

This is a MAC. I'm not supposed to have to jack around inside registry settings, make backups of obscure files buried inside of properties, etc. If I wanted to do all of that stuff, I'd stay gaming on my Windows rig.
I'll still play this game but these guys have spoken very loudly and very clearly to me with all of this: Mac is an "optional but not fully supported" gaming client for this game. If you don't want to deal with all the hassles of crashing, see the graphics at modern levels of detail, etc....stick with Windows. Otherwise, here...have this little half-baked melange of code we outsourced to some folks in India on the cheap and be glad we give you anything.

-You've tried the fix posted in the other topic in this forum (the one labeled for 10.5.8)
-You've downloaded the patch that went live today.
-You've had 1 or more successful Cider installations in the past 48 hours.
-You've accessed the game in the past 48 hours.

Whether that is the case or not, is speculation. Only the internal testing people will know. However, they have been forthcoming in saying that they know things are broken and that they are going to fix it. (Still I am miffed that the fixes are not rolled into the LIVE publish.. but that's my beef.) My point without sounding too long winded, we're gonna have to roll up our sleeves and become mac proponents to get them to squash these bugs before something like this EVER happens to the mac gaming community again.
I'm a Mac gamer. And I am not going to go away. ::em picket::

Of course they are ridiculous, and we hope to be able to stop worrying about them in the very near future. But in the meantime, we are just trying to get as many people back playing in whatever way possible.
Okay, unfortunately, I'm at work for the next hour and a half, which means I am not on a Mac and am without visuals, so I can only offer limited ideas at the moment. So that we have as much info as possible, just confirm or deny the following: -You've tried the fix posted in the other topic in this forum (the one labeled for 10.5.8) -You've downloaded the patch that went live today. -You've had 1 or more successful Cider installations in the past 48 hours. -You've accessed the game in the past 48 hours. |
-Yes
-Not that I know of. I started getting the failed download message last night. Figured it had something to do with the patch and ignored it until today.
-Yes. I was playing yesterday afternoon
2. Double-click Contents, then Resources, then transgaming, and then c_drive.
Any explanations?
