Fix it or im done

Ive been playing this game since before capes. Before issue 1. Never have I had this issue. Im an an avid pvper and thats really all I do aside from getting my new pvp toons 1-50.

In RV.. I have to click a power 5 godamn times to go off. Not only that, sometimes it will drag them. It makes it miserable and I cannot continue like this. I've never rage quitted the game like today. Smashing my godamn enter key just to type something but it just blinks and goes away not letting me type. I even tested this.. I clicked my fly power on and off. And 50% of the time IT DOES NOT FREAKING WORK. My mouse has no issues. My keyboard has no issues.

Im sorry to be blunt or rude, but fix it or im gone.

Sounds like a network issue to me; are we just talking RV or other zones as well? Unless it just happens that that mapserver is having issues it all points to high latency or high packet loss between you and the CoH servers.

lag is usuallty attributed to network lag or computer running low on resources such as RAM or graphics settings being too high

It happens majorly in RV but sometimes outside also. It's happened on a random mission a few times. And I have NEVER had this issue before. Never.
I have 2 gigs of ram
and a geForce 9800gt

Game runs alright, nowadays a little laggy but this just started within the past few weeks. makes pvp unbearable. I have to click my judgment sometimes 5 times really fast to go off. It's aggravating. And I cannot deal with it much longer.

Do you close the Launcher after starting the game? It seems to have something of a memory leak which sucks up system resources. There's a setting in the launcher which closes it automatically after launching the game.

I was running fine for months and then started having disconnects and lagging. Turns out new neighbors moved in who were on the same wifi channel that I was and we had contending signals. Since I live in a complex, I eventually went to a wired connection.

Other suggestions:
-check or replace any network cables - they do give out eventually and can cause packet loss.
-power cycle your modem, router and other local LAN devices. Power on your PC when they are back up.
-Run anti-virus and mal-ware scans. You might have picked up something that is hogging your network connection.

Hope this helps.

Also - trying lowering your video settings. Before the recent server upgrades I had to run lower settings for any map with lots of people on it (Mothership raids, BAF).

I think the real question here is.. are other players experiencing the same issue.

If yes, then its probably an issue with the zone and should be brought to the devs attention.
If no, you may want to see whats eating up your memory or causing the lag

Id go in and check with one of my toons, but Im at work right now..

ps - I have had this happen to me more than a few time in regular missions in the past exactly as the OP describes but have generally attributed it to my 3 yr old mouse

specs look fine, RAM is borderline though, 2 GB barely cuts it, i think 3 GB will comfortably run the game

Right once I get a steady job again i'll be upgrading. Unfortuentaly my motherboard only has 2 slots for Ram (lol?) so Ill just get 2 2gig sticks to make up for 4.

I will lower my settings and such just to test it out. Also, I sometimes leave the CoH launcher up so ill be sure to close it from now on!

You know it might have to do with something else. Firefox has been kind of having errors lately. Like it wont respond, switch to the white screen and then come back. Does it every so often.

Question: What operating system are you using? If you're using a 32-bit one, then upgrading your ram may not prove beneficial. (They can only make use of 3.2Gb of memory including Graphics Cards IIRC.)

You could try /netgraph 1 and watch the network traffic graph. If you see a whole lot of red spikes during the times when the game appears to be unresponsive, that would indicate that at those times the game client for some reason believes its not communicating with the game servers properly, and not receiving packets necessary to keep the game going. That might point to a problem on the computer, or intermittent network issues with the ISP itself.

I haven't noticed any powers lagging like that but as of today, I have accidently moved my powers instead of activating them which isn't something I have ever done before.
So maybe it is a game issue.

Of course I am tired as hell and it is possible I just clicked the button a little too long...

Remember too, you can lock your powers in their slots, under Menu/Options (General Tab) mid way down, that wil help keep those pesky Powers stay down.

I just learned of that the other day and now do that on every toon but still it does not help my power from not going off. I stood there slowly clicking fly on and off and it would toggle. Once.

I don't get it. You're an avid PvPer, but you're clicking powers instead of keyboarding them?

Beyond that interesting thing, you probably need to go through the sticky at the top of the forum and do a Liquid Plumbr on your computer, as well as inspect your network trafficing. Either there's something seriously bottlenecking your game in terms of CPU usage, or the network trafficing is bad. NIC, Cable, Switch/router/modem, ISP... server routes...

There was, a few whiles ago, a guy from Alaska who was getting routed through Japan or something before coming back to California... and was having the exact same issues as you seem to be. He called his ISP with is Pingplotter results, and they fixed their routing issues, got him direct to CA, problems sovled.

Oh, and if you're on dialup or satellite or such... good dang luck with that.

I'm just going to have to say it's my mouse. I'll just get another one and if it continues, then its the game. But on the off chance im wrong, i'll just deal.

But I hear this happens to other people as well in game so I figured it was a bug or some sort of server lag issue. The servers have been jumpy lately.

Hrm... The servers are all in Dallas, Texas.

I was having similar issues a few months ago. It turns out my DSL provider oversold locally and had too many people using the same gateway router. After about a month of dealing with their tech support they finally admitted the problem was on their end not mine but said that they had no plans to add another gateway. My options were to either quit and find another company that hadn't oversold or stay with them at a discounted price and hope one of their other customers quit.

Anyway, if your netgraph shows red spikes like Arcanaville mentioned then try the line test at www.dslreports.com and use their forums to try and figure out where the problem is. They even have techs from some of the major DSL providers that frequent their forums and help resolve issues.

Huh, the servers are in Dallas. Isn't there something happening in Texas? Say, something like a huge wildfire affecting thousands of acres? Maybe some internet cabling going through the state?

If there's suddenly bad lag where there wasn't before, then there's a good chance that something is happening on the internet between your computer and the datacenter.

Not to mention a major power outage - that may be taking out some nodes or reducing capacity on the usual routing causing alternative paths to become more congested.

They are NOW.
They used to be in three separate locations - East Coast, West Coast and EU (in Germany, I think).

Correct, at the time, this was the issue. But it wouldn't have mattered where they were, if you're being flung to, oh, Tibet and back, you're gonna have a sucky time of it.

Nothing wrong with Tibet, btw, but the round trip sucks.

I got it kinda figured out. Certain parts of the powers wont let me activate it. I really, honestly, just sat there clicking tactics ten times in a row slightly off the very middle of the power and it would not activate. Tried with phase shift, same thing. Figured out it's all the power.
