So I've been spending a lot of time looking at the login screen with the downtime this morning and I'm wondering if I should recognize more than two heroes in this image.

You guys recognize any of the other heroes in this picture? I'd love to see one or two more of them in game...

They're pretty much just generic heroes that are supposed to represent the players. I always thought the guy in the background was BugBite though

I think it would be pretty cool if a bunch of players recreated the costumes on the splash screen as accurately as possible (With signatures omitted) to appear in game for the fun of it, perhaps even give them some characterisation!

I think the back row guy with antennae is Ambush Bug.

The guy in front of the bug costume, and to the left of the big fella with the pony tail... looks EXACTLY like me. It's eerie.

Ofcourse that screen is ancient.. you can tell because they gave Statesman a cape when capes became available.

That's funny you mention it... I've always seen that character as Ms. Liberty, despite the clear differences between the login screen and her in game appearance. Must be the hair and mask.

Yeah, that's sort of what I've always assumed, too. Similarly, I've assumed the woman in pink on the far left is supposed to be Numina, the guy on the far right might be Synapse and the woman "above" him to be Luminary. I have no idea if that's supposed to be right or not.

Yeah all but Statesman are either generic heroes or VERY early concept art for signature heroes, BAB for instance is all cyberneticed up which he was during the early concepts but that was later changed to just the gloves.

The Ms. Liberty lookalike is also based on early concept art for her.

Its weird, the splash screen was probably one of the first things made for the game and yet even that early, they didn't spot or bother to fix Statesmans Derp Face.

Also anyone else notice the flesh coloured spandex on the first woman on the left. It took me a while to figure out that she wasn't naked.

Yeap that is Ms. Liberty. I liked that early costume more then her newer costume.

Luminary is in the back upper right corner.

The guy in the black muscle shirt could be an early version of Apex.

The women in the pink with the blonde hair is Numia.

The guy on the right flying near Ms. Liberty is Synapse in an alt costume I beleive, or he could be the guy in the center back with the Black and Blue costume, that has no mask.

I want to say that the big guy with the pony tail is Talos.

The rest of them I'm not all that sure of.. could be people like Galaxy girl, Atlas and others from CoH lore that are never really seen in game. ((hmm brings up an interesting question.. why do we never time travel into the past to meet those famous and ancient characters))

Right, I always assumed it was her based mainly on this trailer:

Look at the WW II footage, right around the 47-57 second range with a really good look at her costume at 55.

I believe all the rest simply represent the players. I could be wrong but I'm not seeing Numi or Synapse or any of the others in those guys.

I think "Dreamcast Man" was the original version of Synapse as well.

That's fitting, using the early concept design for Ms. Liberty as the design for her grandmother! But is the big guy with the dreadlocks an early version of BAB?

Confirmed as well. That's how he appeared in the early marketing and at least one video. Not sure if ever appeared that way in game, but I kind of doubt it.

Ive always thought the guy on the far right was an early version of Positron? The one beside Liberty's armpit.

I understand that the generic loading screen was sort of assembled as a throw-away piece of generic art--but I've always felt that it was a wasted opportunity on so many different levels.

Thanks to DN/NS--this is the most redname discussion we've had on it in years. Possibly ever.
