Falling Skies
it was a bit of a slow start but I am digging it. can't wait to see the season finale.
I missed several episodes, but the one's I've seen I've for the most part enjoyed. I plan to try and catch most of the marathon next weekend before the finale.

Great show! As you guys have mentioned it did start out slow, for me at least it didn't pick up until about two episodes ago, now the season is almost over. I have to remind myself NOT to watch these shows until they are over, then watch the entire thing on a lazy weekend. Which is what I decided to do with Torchwood: Miracle Day. That tactic also prevents me from investing in a show only to have it yanked like those turds from NBC did with The Cape. Luckily Falling Skies was renewed for 10 more episodes next summer. Sigh, a whole year we have to wait.
By the way, I can't wait to find out more about the alien overseers. I'm assuming they galaxy hop collecting resources and slaves, but that would be too cliche.
Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

Yay for it getting renewed, Boo for having to wait a whole year.

I keep forgetting to look it up to watch it...
This summer has been pretty good to me for new sci-fi series. So far I've watched the first season of Outcasts, Haven, and Falling Skies. All three are very good. Also just started in on the first season of Tru Blood, so I'll see how that goes.
Unfortunately I'm going to be out of town this weekend, so I'll have to catch up next week with the finale. Judging by the last few episodes it should be pretty great.
If you like this show, I would suggest reaiding E.E. Knight's Vampire Earth books.

So - season is over. I've watched all 10 episodes. The only time I actually enjoyed watching it was in the last episode, the last 5 minutes. Lets hope season 2 stops with the "omg the kids"-arc every episode.

I turned on the show for about 10 minutes, and a woman was about to give birth and Dr. Blood Moongood (Good Bloodmoon? Moon Goodblood? Whatever) was there. I turned to a friend of mine and said, "I bet the baby is breach." Sure enough, a few minutes later, BINGO! Breach baby.
Ugh. EVERY SINGLE TV SHOW/MOVIE DOES THIS. Writers are horribly stuck in such conventions.
I didn't watch much more, as I really didn't know what was going on.
Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!
Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.
This series is great.
There are cliches, but cliche just means it works. Nothing wrong with that.
The only part that pissed me off was the end of the 4th episode where everyone is all "you think that does anything" and she's like "no but lets pray!" and these guys that have been mocking her the entire time do. That's stupid, insulting, breaks character, and I really hate having religion blatantly forced down anyone's throat.
Everything else... good. I like that it sets a clue and then it answers that clue a little later. Like "When we pictured designing mechs we figured we'd make them look like us, wonder why the skitters didn't" which is answered, not told, but shown.
I wish the season was longer and i wish the next episode wasn't a year away... and I wish it wasn't so blasted hard to actually watch the series. It's almost like they don't want people to. If you didn't decide to watch the series until just yesterday you aren't going to watch it unless you pirate it because the only episodes they have up are 5, 6, and 7.
I'm betting on another alien force that starts to help out like the french did against the british ^.^
It'll turn out that the invaders are involved in some larger war and Earth's invasion was simply them using our planet to resupply but now they realize that humanity may be helpful as soldiers as well.

For me, the show was less than the sum of its parts and I stopped watching.

No. Cliches are cliches because they've been used too often that they become dull. There are plenty of ways to bring tension and drama to a pregnant woman beyond throwing something in the screenplay that's been done in just about every TV show or movie with a pregnant woman about to give birth. After watching 60 seconds of a TV show, I should not have been able to predict the next big plot twist. It's sloppy, lazy writing.

It brought a more 'human' feel to this other wise stone cold guy in charge.

Judging something off of just 60 seconds of viewing is...cliche.
