So, those coming Pool Power changes...
For TFs and the like, we prefer the 5 minutes of chatting being 5 minutes of planning prior to about a minute of dominating the field.
Teammate death is my failure, which is not the same thing as fault. It might not be my fault...but it is still my failure. |
That's my point, you find preplanning fun. However there are a lot of people that enjoy charging headlong into the TF with no plan simply for the challenge of it. Simply to see if their build can cover not only their own failures, but every one else's as well.
I'd really like some clarification if it's out there.
I've read where the Travel Pools are getting a 5th power, and that the 3rd Power (The travel power) will be available at lvl 4 without having to prior pick powers 1 or 2. This is an awesome and welcome change - one I've suggested before on threads here and there. I've also heard (but this is more hazy and what I'd really like good confirmation on) is that all the Power Pools will be getting the "Pick Power 3 at lvl 4 while ignoring the first 2" treatment. Is this true as well? If so, does it apply to Epic Pools? Man, I'm hoping! Can't wait to say goodbye to Boxing |

It is only easy because of how slow you play. That is no problem, you should play in whatever way is fun for you. But 2 hour STFs make my eyes bleed. The perfect plan and formation for each spawn nauseates me. You should understand that those of us who like Fallout, Vengeance, and other such powers are having fun and almost everyone we play with have fun this way as well.
Yes, constant death would be annoying and frustrating. But constant pauses between spawns is even more annoying and frustrating for some people. |
That's how alot of player's frustration is easily vented. powers like vengence, self-rez, and fallout make it so much more fun when you die.
If anyone dies on a team that you're on, the death is your fault?

I'd love to see a tanker run around ignoring mobs and get to the end boss in a mission by himself with the rest of the team wiped because of his carelessness and garbage attitude, then blame all of them on their builds.
I hope you are kidding.

Okay but you read the rest of my post, right? I didn't specify that we were talking about a tanker and neither did you, from what I saw. You seemed to be proposing that nobody should take death-based powers because any death is a failure for the entire team. This is what I dispute. Even if the failure part were true that wouldn't be cause to skip those powers but I don't think it is true in the first place.
Someone who runs ahead and leaves their team to die is not accurately appraising the situation. Running ahead is a viable tactic if the rest of the team is doing fine and if an understanding exists among the teammates that a division of labor can accomplish the task before them more effectively than a team blob.
Vengeance happens to be a power that disproportionately rewards defeats to the point where an extremely viable speed tactic is carrying a corpse around with you and never resurrecting it. To call that bad because it involved defeat is to miss the point. Do you want to do a speed TF deathlessly, or do you want to do it right?
I should of course add that vengeance is awesome in almost any situation other than a master of or a hami raid, not just speed tfs, but they happen to be an area where it shines.
I don't have Vengeance on many characters. On one of the ones that do, my Rad defender, I have fully slotted Fallout and Mutation waiting to follow it.
I don't sit back and let people die... but when they do, I take full advantage of it.

I can see why you were arguing if you imagined I said something different.

You did say that, and then you said this:
No, see, he is playing in such a way that he is soloing and doesn't seem to care if he gets his teammates killed.
He blames their build instead of his thoughtlessness. |
Keep in mind that you said this in response to a guy who was telling you merely that he uses vengeance, without saying anything else about his character or style of play.
People are worried about letting thier teammates die? Wow...IMO, if people aren't dying at least every couple of fights, then the difficulty setting is too low.

Yeah really. Geez, I can hardly wrap my mind around having formations for your team! Like do you actually try to maintain a specific physical position or is it meant simply to be a mental state? Seeing it in action sounds impressive, at least. I think I'd rather just go really really fast though.
