Harry Potter 7.2
Ideally, the tank will die precisely as everyone else starts fighting, allowing aggro to be spread evenly among the blaster. -seebs, "How to Suck at CoH/CoV" Guide
Overall, I thought it was good, but I must admit I was a little disappointed with the one big scene I was looking forward to . . . the "get away from my daughter, you <you know the word>!" scene. The book had a lot more build-up, leading to an epic fight between a truly crazy evil witch and a fierce mother protecting her kids pulling out all the stops. When reading the book, I exected a different end for Bella (at the hands of Nevel). When I read that moment in the book, I envisioned something a lot, well, MORE. Instead, it was pretty minor.
I was also sad that Kreacher's redemption was left out of the movies. No leagion of house elves coming to help defend Hogwarts. No Grawp showing great heroics. No Centaurs coming to help Hogwarts.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

Also was wondering why they couldnt at least show Kreacher's turn to liking Potter. I always envision him living with the Potters 19 years later.

Saw the film to day. I have mixed feelings on it. I never read the books, but I still got a sense that some characters did not get their dues. The momma Weasley vs Bellatrax Estrange battle in particular stood out. While moments like these a tad disappointing I can't say I didn't like the film. It was a fun movie to watch. Grand on the scale deserving the franchise finally.
One thing kind of stood out to me, is Daniel Radcliffe really that pale or was there some reason for it in the story?

But seriously, I dare you to pull HALF of what he pulled in both parts of the movie and not be white down to your pupils for however long you have left to live before your heart explodes from the stress with the force of a large-ish multi-megaton nuclear explosion.
Either that, or beaten so black-and-blue someone mistakes you for a gigantic cross-breed grape.
Yeah I can agree with that. With the book I envisioned a bigger battle between the mother and Bella.

I rather like how Harry faces down Voldemort in the book more than the movie, too. They went with their odd flying smoke bit instead (as they have liked to since Yates came in to direct, I believe), but I think the verbal interchange where Voldemort is left realizing his firm position is actually a house of cards works much better. The look on his face is always priceless, or at least how my imagination works it whenever I read it.
I don't know, it was a solid end, but it still leaves you wishing for more with some things. Snape's memories were strong in places, for instance, but also felt a little rushed and rough, and possibly harder to follow and appreciate if you haven't read the book.

I went out to see the 12:35PM showing with my Mom (Because she was the only one out of the three of us I could drag along), and while the movie had some fun moment. We both walked away going "Well. It didn't suck." We enjoyed Part 1 more, where as part 2 did feel rushed. Take into a account the number of epic moments in the book that were ether watered down so much the epic was leeched out of them, or they tossed them out of the movie in the first place (What happened? Did you blow your budget on Daniel stripping for about 40-50% of the movie in part1?).
Also, when Voldemort went to bind Harry during the last battle with those ropes/chains/his robe/whatever, did anyone else say "I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going..." Ah well. At least we know why Voldemort wears a robe. Harry can hear zippers.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Saw it Friday night, and I must say that while I thought it was overall good (better than some of the other HP movies), I did feel it lacked a certain factor for me. I'm not sure if it's just that the movie felt rushed (which it did at parts) or it lacked certain scenes that I thought would have made it better, I don't know. McGonagall's fight scene was pretty good, but quick, and Snape's performance was fantastic. And while I get the desire to put the epilogue in there, I don't think it was that important for the movie.
But, like others in this thread, I think my biggest disappointment was not seeing the side of good being represented in numbers. It looked like the bad side had everyone on it, and the good guys were represented by a handful of schoolkids and the order. Where was everyone else? The parents coming back? The elves? The centaurs? Anyone?!?! All you needed was a few seconds of them all showing up, and then a huge fight scene from overhead. They must've had the budget for it.
Well, that and the fact that despite the Wizards knowing hundreds of spells, we seem to only see four ever cast in in the big battle scenes.
SPOILERS OVER!

SPOILERS
Loved it, particularly the Tone. The beginning shot really sets you up for, "This is BAD, people. This is not heroic swords and sorcery, this is grim getting-killed-by-random-artillery-shrapnel-warfare." The movie had me in the feel of a WW1 epic for most of it, which I found very appropriate, and I liked the choice.
And as for the offscreen deaths, I thought that was a good thing - showing more of the carnage of war and less of the heroism... we all know that Lupus and Tonks didn't go out with a whimper, and neither did anyone else, and that all that's left after a 'heroic' battle is the mourners who have lost those that they love, and to show them the way they did was both touching and infuriating.
But as in the book, Harry's anger seemed to be quashed by his realization his friends would keep dying, that Voldemort had no friends to lose, that more killing was NOT the answer, that it would just go on forever until they resolved his 'status'.
(BTW, The Bridge over the River Kwai reference was Brilliant!)
It fit as well as any story I've read to date. Kudos.
