Finally the new Lore Pets - What is your choice?

I should have enough i-xp and other stuff to 'level' my bane and demons/therm to lv50+3. I have been holding that off until now: the new lore pets are here! I like the fact that some pets have secondary effect that stack with certain powersets, which vastly increast their usefulness. Otherwise, with that many choices now, it is easy to make a thematically matching mini-team of your own. Here is my plan:

Arachnos for my bane - mainly for thematic reasons. My mini Arachnos team. Originally I wanted the Robotic Drone ones. They do -regen too although I have not checked the exact value. Still debating on which.

Rularuu for my demons/therm - again for thematic reasons. A herd of demons and Rularuu do look intimadating!

Robotic Drones for my bots/FF - hopefully, there will be a decent sum of -regen stacking.

Phantom for my zombies/dark - either that or Polar Light. Can't decide. Besides, I am not sure what exactly is Polar Light. Need to see one first. This MM does a lot of -tohit. It seems not much -tohit are available with the lore pets. Probably will pick one that goes with the theme.

Anyway, all others are good as well. It seems there is a lot of -def going on with the lore pets. Just out of interest, which one are you going to pick for your characters?

(by the way, if you don't have the game switched on, here is a good reference: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Lore_Slot_Abilities)

They look like the wisps that float around the woods in Croatoa.

the polar lights look more like variants of the vet buff wisp pets, the boss ones are red and LT/support are blue IIRC

Oh those! Thanks. They don't look very impressive...

To be fair, their do a good deal of -def. May have it for my sonic/kin just to make her more of a debuff type.

The Longbow Cataphract looks impressive and has some useful abilities. Namely the chance for heavy -regen.

Mains (Freedom) @Auroxis
Auroxis - Emp/Rad/Power Defender Pylon Video Soloing an AV
Pelvic Thunder - SS/Elec/Mu Brute
Sorajin - Elec/Nin Stalker
Neuropain - Sonic/Mental/Elec Blaster

Anyone have screenshots of the new pets?

Also is there an efficient way to turn the "seers ally" I already crafted into something I like better? Its only tier 1 so Im not losing a ton of effort, but it would be nice to not waste anything.

IIRC currently there isn't a way to break down any already crafted Incarnate abilities.

Of the new ones my Grav/Storm 'troller will be taking the Storm Elementals for thematic reasons. I tried the Tier 1 pet during beta and have this little purplish storm cloud following me about shooting lightning seemed to work for me

I did also try the Polar Lights and although there wasn't anything wrong with them they just didn't fit my toons concept as well as I thought. Although the actual wisp pets look like the ones floating around Croatoa they shoot blasts like Kheldians have.

If your mouse has greater processing power than your gfx card, the answer is yes.

IIRC, they are basically the Northern Lights from the Lord Winter fight; the power descriptions do look rather Kheldian.

As for not being spectacular, I suspect that's on purpose; some people are going to want unobtrusive pets, just as others are going to want big flashy ones.

Got a question:
In the Storm elemental pets, the support one have hurricane power.
There's 2 version of the pet: the tangible/attacking one, and the other intangible which also have hurricane listed in its powers.

So does the intangible one use Hurricane, and affect foes without being affected ?

Thx

From a min/maxing PoV:
I used ACU+Victoria Warworks so far because they have both high damage and AoE damage (and do not KB). I may go for Cimerorans because of the crazy stacked def debuff (none seems to reliably debuff smashing res, /cry on Longbow Nullifiers without sonic trap), but both are melee and may die too easely on heavy AoE AVs.
If I wasnt grouped with a Kin most of the time I would consider Carnies. The "support" combo has heavy damage psy blaster (is it Strongman or Ring Mistress? Mistress right? t4 I mean.) and fire support (ie forge). Rikti and Idontremeber also have AM and Ad Rush, looks sexy, besides its most likely one buff every 15 minutes.

I will be going with the Polar Lights pets on my Grav/FF so that they vaguely resemble mini-Singularities. I have all my Grav powers colored a blue-cyan color already, so those pets should fit right in!

Now... to avoid the red one without gimping myself.

Ah, I will take the Storm Elemental Radial Superior Ally for more extreme -tohit for my zombies/dark!

I worked hard to get my first pets to level tier 2...

They introduced the new pets and I was like!!!! WTH!

I like the poster before me would have chosen the polar lights because of the singularity type theme...but Im sort of grinded out.

I'd like to pick Vanguard or Polar Lights/Drones for concept purposes, but Romans are so far above other pets in ST DPS (which is what I want from lore pets) I will most likely pick these.

Personally, I think the nice choices from a minmaxing perspective are
ST melee DPS : Romans
ST ranged DPS / GM hunting without regen debuffs : Longbow
AoE damage : Clockwork, with the caveat that if the chain power still isn't fixed (I haven't checked if it is), it steals XP so may steal rewards
Buff : Phantoms
Debuff : Storm Elementals

As far as visuals go:

  • Arachnos: Identical to NPC models, with reflections aura
  • Carnival of Shadows: Identical to NPC models, with reflections aura
  • Cimeroran: Identical to NPC models, with reflections aura
  • Longbow: Identical to NPC models, with reflections aura
  • Nemesis: Identical to NPC models, with reflections aura
  • Phantoms: Identical to Illusion Decoy models, with reflections aura
  • Polar Lights: Identical to Veteran wisps models
  • Robotic Drones: Identical to targeting drone/veteran drone models
  • Rularuu: Identical to NPC models, with reflections aura
  • Rikti: Identical to NPC models, with reflections aura
  • Storm Elementals: identical to the Lanaruu purple cloud NPC enemies.
  • Vanguard: Identical to NPC models, with reflections aura

My high-tech archer will gladly use the robotic drones. Perfect for her gadgety/natural origin.

My dream-based dominator will use the phantoms.

My ghost-summoning controller, likewise.

Most of my other incarnates? I have to admit, the robotic drones will be my go-to set. Natural, tech, science, the unobtrusive drones just work from many angles. I have NO idea what my fire/fire/fire dominator could use. If the polar lights/storm elementals/phantoms could be recolored, I'd use them in a heartbeat for my energy/fire/etc. based characters.

Pretty Much

Attack Pet: Lightning Blast, Ball Lightning, <something I forget>, Fly
Def Pet: Lightning Blast, Hurricane, O2 Boost, Fly

My SS/WP Brute is sort of like a living power battery, so I'm collecting 'electrical' type tertiary powers, Mu Mastery, ION Judgement, and now...Storm Elemental Lore.

Working well...

Ah yes I remember reading that about those now - I had forgotten!

And I agree that people really wanted some generic pets for the Lore slot and Im really glad the Devs listened. Phantoms, Drones, Polar Lights, Storms (to an extent, they are purple!) are all quite generic IMO

Sticking with Warworks on my Scrapper and Seers on my Stalker. They fit the characters better than any of the new stuff.

Probably go Robotic Drones for my Grav/Kin Troller and either Storm or Polar Lights for my Fire/Rad. (That's assuming I manage to play those characters enough to unlock the slots, though.)

Main Hero: Chad Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1396 Badges

yes, the pet is just untouchable, so its debuff still affects baddies but it cannot be killed

For my four current Incarnates, my choices are: IDF, Warworks, Clockwork, and Seers. I'm not going back to the grind for something as minor as Lore powers.
