Titan weapons

Okay, I don't see a thread here yet, but this potential new set has me sitting up and paying attention.

Two-handed melee, with a ramping +damage power? Sounds like it may be a re-skinned Kinetic Melee clone that's locked out of shield defense?

Aside from the incredibly awesome concept art, I'm wondering how they're going to make this set stand apart and keep it balanced.... Maybe it will be the 'broadsword' to kinetic melee's 'katana'.

Anybody have any more info/thoughts?

Besides http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=264110 I have little to add. Nobody does in fact. Not much has been revealed at all about Titan Weapons or Time Manipulation. Personally, I'm more interested in the latter, but Titan Weapons could prove interesting.

I believe the mechanic was it got faster as you attacked. It's not coming in i21 so I expect nothing in terms of info for some time.

The Titan Weapons set will feature the Momentum mechanic, which speeds up the animations of attacks the more Momentum you build. The more you attack the more Momentum you build, so at the start you'll have those slow lumbering attacks, but as you keep on pressing the attack your attack animations will be faster.

If Momentum does increase the actual animation speed of attacks then that's new tech, and pretty radical new tech at that. From what we know, the animation time of attacks previously has been completely static. They could play games by making the activation time and the animation time of a power not equal to each other but we haven't seen any evidence that animation powers could be made faster on the fly.

I think that's the point of the new sets - not just a new theme, but a new mechanic to make them stand out from the rest.

I just wish they would have a ball-and-chain so I can make Meteor Hammer the way I intended: Not just stone/fire brute (using fury), or even empty hand. Either way, dang! Guess I'll be around another 84mo! (DING!)

Well, depending on exactly what the mechanic is it might not be so radical. It could indeed be a % animation haste or something that's applied on the fly, but it could also for example work in tiers (attack animates in 2.5s, or 2.0s with X momentum, or 1.5s with Y momentum), which would let them design the normal and faster animations individually and then have the power decide which animation to use based on the conditions.

Of course, I don't know what the code looks like, so maybe that would actually be even more radical...

Hooooly moses, I just thought of something.

For years, I've been asking for a fighting set based on Leichtenhauer moves. This Could Be It.

would be awesome that the attacks are abit slower than broadsword more damage but with max momentum you attack almost as fast as katana

I think they should switch it up and make the set attack faster with each swing instead of +dmg. Of course that'll turn it into a proc monster but it'll be cool.

Not sure I like it that they'll be turning scrappers with this powerset essentially into brutes. I like having max damage out of the box - not chasing after rage/momentum bars.
