High level content

I've noticed something doing high level content, and wonder what the long term outlook will be. With 50(+3/4/whatever) toons running "normal" missions, my high level toons almost feel like they're being power-leveled in AE. I understand that being Incarnate means being able to occasionally smash 50's like they're grays, but it kind of sucks for those who like a challenge. I guess one solution will be "non-incarnate" teams, but I haven't seen that yet (and don't really like that kind of stratification/exclusivity).

So how do you guys see this playing out? Is there some reaction the devs can take to make high level, non-incarnate content more meaningful? Or will all the challenge come from iTrials?

You'll only ever be 50 [+1] for the regular content. To my understanding, the other level shifts are only applicable during incarnate trials. If you start to feel overpowered, bump up your difficulty. And try foes you're weak against.

An Incarnate Shift is a feature of the Incarnate System that is roughly equivalent to increasing a character's Combat Level. A level 50 character with one Incarnate Shift, for instance, will effectively be fighting as though they were level 51.

In addition to the character itself, any pets or even NPC allies will spawn with the Incarnate Shift as well.

Unlike Level Shifts, Incarnate Shifts only activate while participating in an Incarnate Trial, such as the Behavioral Adjustment Facility Trial or the Lambda Sector Trial.

I just know that content is getting ridiculously easy, and I can't unslot all my teammates. Watching tanks blow through spawns with AoE before the rest of the team catches up has been... enlightening? Maybe the patch will help.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of online angst. If no one else is seeing this happen, then I'm sure I'll get over it.

Set your difficulty slider to +4. Form your own teams and express to those that you try to recruit that you are trying to be challenged so they know what they are getting into.

If those missions are still not a challenge at +4 go run arcs in oro with teamates under constant debuff and baddies under constant buff.

As others have said only 1 level shift applies outside of the itrials. It is very possible to create a challenge for yourself in this game using the tools already on hand.

If you can't recruit a team to attempt these challenges via global chans and the search function then I would suggest heading down to your servers forum and posting an open invite thread asking for others that want to be challenged in the same way you do.

The devs have indicated that non-Trial Incarnate content may be in the works (Task Forces, story arcs, and maybe even repeatable missions). I would assume that Incarnate Shifts would apply there too.

Then again, when they were first announced, I expected Incarnate shifts to apply to Apex and Tin Mage, and was surprised to find they didn't, so maybe that won't be the case.

They've stated on numerous occasions that they won't be going back and making old enemies/missions/foes harder to compensate for new things they add.

As others have said, you're just going to have to wait for Incarnate themed content to feel challenged when running with a team of Incarnates.

Of course, if you regularly lead old TFs you could try turning on the Players Debuffed or Enemies Buffed settings, but I wouldn't recommend doing that without warning your team first.

Boost diff to +4. Grab a bunch of non-50s. Go.

When that content is added the wiki will be updated to include that information.

Go search in AE for some 'challenging' arcs, some creators have gotten pretty crazy in there I hear.

Not like exempting down to run Manticore or Citadel is going to be much of a challenge...

Just run Roy Cooling's arc. Because running through glue is a challenge!

This.

If they made old content harder in general, it would be really unfair to those people who don't have Incarnate stuff yet.

If they did that, if would be the same as saying "Yeah, you know how we were saying Incarnate abilities aren't mandatory? Well, we lied."

That's the LAST thing the devs want to have happen. People are mad enough about it. If they make old content harder to make up for Incarnate abilities, people will go from being a little disgruntled to screaming for their heads on a stick.

Ha.. I had so much rage on it... I nerved my mobs several times now. Like mine some are ok at low repp. But can and will be very challenging at high repp. And it is something new to look at.

Or to make up for
auto-Stamina,
reduced endurance usage on powers,
reduced debt and patrol XP,
supersidekicking,
big insps for sale in Wents,
massive availability of cheap temp powers,
gleemailing yourself inspirations,
IO's,

Or the thousand and one OTHER ways they've buffed the player base.

When I run my lv 50 missions and tips, I run +2 to +4 x 8 and only invite levels 1-49. No one else incarnate but me.
Romans at +4 can be quite challenging. See the General by the fountain in Cim for repeatable missions.
