How would you feel if 1 out of 10 missions were unplayable?

Or have corrupted enemies in it being replaced with a 5th column Mekman or a Hydra? How quickly would you expect the problem to be fixed? How much dev feedback would you expect to see on the topic?

This is a very rough estimate of what happened to the Mission Architect with the 4/26 patch which made dozens of common and/or CoH-related words invalid, or technically "profanity or copyright detected". So far we have seen one post saying that they are aware of the problem. One week later we saw another post saying that there is still no ETA other than "soon". Another week later there's a post saying that some of the problems were fixed, which turned out to be false. Another week and a half later and at least 13 words are cleared up, though it seems like not many more than those 13. And now over a month later, we're only in slightly better shape than we were before.

So, you're starting a new thread to discuss an ongoing thread, in a separate area from where the ongoing thread that pertains to the problem is correctly located?

He's starting a new thread to discuss an ongoing problem, in a separate area that rednames spend a hell of a lot more time in than they do in the area that pertains to the problem.

Note how quickly the Eden Trial was first replaced as WST, then fixed so it will allow people over level 41 to start it. Any bets on which week in June it will be WST? If people working toward Incarnate goodies experience an inconvenience (after all, the trial was still doable, you just needed someone of the right level to start it...or you could go Vigilante and do Ice Mistral) it's immediately fixed, but a major inconvenience that renders large chunks of a feature unusable due to an undocumented and unnecessary "fix" is allowed to go on and on for months because when you're playing AE you're not grinding trials, citizen!

Needless snark is needless. See Bill's reply below

How would I feel if one in ten mishes were unplayable? I'd feel about like I do about the Distinguished Competition's game, which is eye-blindingly beautiful yet kept throwing up mishes that I found impossible to complete!

Since that game is about to go free-to-play, I am guessing a lot of people felt the same way about it. Sorry to derail the thread, back to more fussing about the Mission Architect.

Only 1 out of 10 AE missions are borked? What's wrong with our devs? Surely they can bork more AE missions than that.

I think its more than 1 out of 10 that are corrupted now due to the Profane filter. More like 4 or 5 out of 10.

I don't know. When this started, I was seeing this easily on 1 in 5 arcs taken. Since the last update, I've done close to a dozen arcs and not experienced it once.

That's probably a combination of luck, the last update, and authors changing their arcs to work around the filter.

Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal!

I have seven arcs up and three were affected. Two now repaired by me, but truth be told I haven't had the time to play-check all my arcs to be sure. One was somehow affected but played as if it wasn't.

I think also that Mr. Wheat's point in the OP was that the devs haven't been terribly forthcoming/transparent about all of this, which is leaving some players feeling sort of ignored. More words = more concern. Or at least they feel that way.

I've been working on an arc for a while now trying to mesh it with cannon material and fix my own mechanical mistakes. Having to fix these new flags is quite discouraging. IMO The new lag is just as foul as the profanity/copyright filter.

While I understand the reasoning behind the filter it apparently need to be removed and overhauled. To read a common word like policeman or thorn is quite excessive and surely not working as intended.

I know Ae has been regarded by the masses as the misbegotten stepchild of CoH but not everyone interested in Ae is a farmer or looking to find the next exploit. Several great authors here on the forums are trying there best to right the wrongs that the exploiters have done to this unique feature of this game.

The two fire farms I did over and over and over and over and over and over and over seemed to work just fine. What is the problem here?

No offense. But if you found it beautiful, you were already blind.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Pretty much exactly like how I feel now, actually. It's almost every day that I'll knock an important enemy into a wall, find a locked door with the key to it on the other side, find a door blocked by another unopanable door, end a mission with an enemy apparently having taken a stroll off the map and so on and so forth. Some of these I reset, some I petition, some I mission-drop, and life goes on, apparently.

To be perfectly honest, the expediency in response to non-showstopper bugs around here is kind of disappointing, and that's not a new phenomenon. There's a reason we get the weekly "One Issue fixing bugs!!!" suggestion threads over at S&I.

...

Sam, just face it. The game hates you.

While I may knock an enemy into a wall every once in a while, that tends to be on the order of once a month at worst. The "lost final enemy," even rarer. The rest I have never had happen. Ever.

"Almost every day?"

I had to spend a mission drop and petition for Support three additional times in the span of two days that one time I've had missions with missing enemies very often lately, and I've had a LOT of enemies knocked into walls. Almost every time I knock one around in a pink cave map, it ends up in a wall. I've had enemies spawn in ceilings, I've had enemies knocked through ceilings, I've had enemies drop through holes in the floor, jump through walls... It's a lot of fun

I like a lot of the things the devs are doing with the game and give them a lot of leeway on the things I like less and when they make mistakes (they're only human after all.)

But this is a major screw up which never should've happened. That list should never have gone on the live servers like this. The problems it causes far outway whatever problems it was supposed to fix.

And I don't even create AE missions, I just play them every once in a while.

I would think avoiding a lawsuit is worth it? When the legal department says jump, you have no other choice than to ask how high, gotta keep the game profitable afterall - for the owners, not the lawyers they hire. As for 'it never should have happened'.... well, that is sort of why this is a bug, right? Now, please go back and read your first sentence, especially the 'only human' part.

Stop making excuses for a "filter" that is not only excessively strict, but gets triggered by file names that never appear to anyone but the author.

I think CoX characters are more beautiful than theirs, no two ways about it. The run their characters use is simply far beyond ugly.

With that said, comparing CoX outdoor landscapes - even Praetoria - to the aforementioned ones is like saying that the Hope Diamond and a five-cent ring out of a gumball machine are equivalent in beauty. Ok, if you say so. But unfortunately the Hope isn't the synonym for CoX outdoors, if you get my drift.

Yes, the comparison between the two is that extreme.
