Ancient Japan!

I keep saying, This was meant to be Feudal Japan, but it was a lot easier to call it Ancient than try to explain the Feudal period. I still have to say, like Azure, that although I would like to also see the old dulls get polished than see new shinies, but I also just suggested this because I thought it was an interesting idea. I wish people didn't like to argue over every little point. And an "/unsigned" is just kind of pointless unless it was "/signed" by the poster to begin with.

If Masterminds didn't suck, they'd be the most powerful AT in the game.

My apologies. This stance of mine is kind of ironic given that a year or two ago I suggested a similar idea, only it took place in a Modern Japanese city called Emiya (Guardian Shrine) and the "Warring factions" was the recent consternation between the Emiya's very traditional and historical Japanese heritage and the definitively modern and Western influenced half of the city (to the point where in the sector descriptions, I referred to the zone's electronic's district as being called "The Little Sister of Akihabara").

Hmmm... the Midnighters goin back to 1600's Caribbean or "Feudal" Japan sounds real good to me.

It's a public forum. frankly; deal with it. You will and always will get people disagreeing. And I will still disagree (and /unsign, which is effectively a /sign AGAINST an idea, FYI)

Pretty much anything I say will get some sort of shouting down so, meh. 'Feudal Japan' just seems such a random, unlinked choice of place. 'Cool factor' is irrelevant if it has naff all ties to existing canon.

That, and if we HAVE to have a damn new shiny, instead of revamps, I'd rather see something more out of the box and un-obvious. Thinks like 'medieval anything' have been done to death a million and one times.

I do understand how you feel, Techbot, "improve the old before moving onto something new and shiny" but I still felt the need to remind you that such a thing wouldn't be the first time.

Also, for last time I want to remind people in this thread that half the stuff all of you are talking about is NOT ancient Japan. What a lot of you seem to think of is Feudal Japan.
Please stop confusing Ancient periods with Feudal, Medieval, or other pre-modern periods.

Edit: I would like to say that I do support THE SPIRIT of the suggestion. It would be nice to actually see the world beyond the war walls and the inexplicable blue barriers and know what's going on out there. I mean it's really sad that even an oppressive society like Praetoria makes more mention of what's out beyond the sonic fences than the Rogue Isles and Paragon combined, you'd seriously think that even in lore nothing exists beyond those points.
But First and foremost I feel what we do have should be improved, revamped, and expanded on as Techbot suggests.

Been a while since I posted here but was just going back through some old ones and saw yours.. LOL you are right of course I did te same thing as the OP and simply used ancient as opposed to Fuedal. I also agree we need to expand our reach beyond the walls of the city/isles. Even the lore surrounding the game includes heroes fighting along side the allies in WW 2, heroes drafted into service to battle the Russians during the cold war but now ABSOLUTELY nothing else goes wrong anywhere else in the entire world .. it all happens in Paragon City, RI or in the Rogue Isles.

Now I am not asking them to produce entire new cities (/zones) but couldn't we hop an airlift to the desert somewhere and battle some terrorists or one of Admiral Sutter's submarines could deposit us on a desert isle where we'd battle modern day pirates. Hey in some cases we wouldn't even need new villains.. Isn't Malta supposed to be a GLOBAL organization ,, and both the Council and the 5th Column are out to control the world NOT just Rhode Island. Actually the same is true of Arachnos.. what we need is a few new maps (outdoor and indoor) to give us a different feel and a new story arc or two that sends us off to the four corners of the earth to battle the bad guys.. Hey come to think of it even Nemesis is constantly showing up everywhere including the Shadow Shard ... why can't we go fight his troops in the sewers below Paris instead of below Kings row LOL

Plus if we ever get an Egypt zone we might just possibly see something about the Blood of the Black Stream. I'm fine with us not getting them as an EAT, but I'm still curious about them.

Since there is already an arc involving Malta's attempt to prevent China's superhuman population frm interacting with the heroes of Paragon City, some kind of Asian-based follow-up would be nice to see. I'd probably prefer a completely imaginary island, so the Devs could do whatever they want with it, like Madripoor over at Marvel.

I do also like having heroes fight a big org, preferably NOT the 5th Col, in England, France, and Germany. Only seems fair, since this game has been asking the heroes of England, France, and Germany to come to Paragon City instead of protecting their home turfs from local enemies.

BUMP: Okay, I see why some people have issues with an Anime-ish Japanese zone, but I see no problem with it. I mean, just because it's Japan, doesn't mean it's all Anime. Besides, Anime is not a genre so much as an art style, and a surprisingly adaptable one. If you just go out and pick up two random manga at your library (Provided it's well stocked and/or it's not a school library), and you will probably get two very different stories, styles, and feels.

But can we PLEASE get a break from 5th Column/Council?

We already has.. Moonfire, Hess and Citadel TF pitting us against Council and the ITF and Kahn/Barracuda sending us off to stop the 5th column. I think 6 TF/SFs revolving around basically the SAME villain group aside from the color of their outfits is enough already LOL

Lets invent some new group(s) to battle in Atlantis and on the moon. Maybe we could use the Coralax in some way under the sea. It would take a little tweeking since you don't see much of them beyond level 30 but they are sea creatures. We could dream up some Mermen villains as well (and a crab that sings Calipso tunes can lead them .. Oh no Disney would sue us. Scratch that idea hehehe)

[Doctor Evil breaks into the thread: "Sharks with friggin laser beams attached to their heads!"] * Sorry that thought just hit me and I HAD to do it LOL *

But back to reality (sort of) we could sort of base the Atlantians on SG-1.. We discover a small city beneath the oceans with the remains of an ancient alien race that all had super powers. At some point they realized the humans were worshiping them like gods and they moved the majority of their race to a secret moon base. IF we have to we can add a 5TH column base up there too since its supposedly where they went to regroup after the Council overthrew their leaders. But the Coop TF should be centered around the Atlantians NOT the column. Maybe after years of hiding an evil faction is tired of hiding and wants to return to earth and actually LIKES the idea of turning us all into mindless worshipping slaves. We'd work for the good faction in seeking out and stopping their leader before SHE could carry out the plan.. HEY I am tired of you guys getting all the AVs .. let's have a FEMALE arch Villain. Okay if it sells you on the idea more she can wear a skimpy outfit and look sexy .. Can someone come and clean up all this drool I just created with that last comment?

We could say the remaining underwater base is sort of a observation post where the Atlantians keep an eye on us and it could even be the site of the final battle of the TF.. The Villains manage to transport down and plan to launch their invasion of earth from there and it's up to us to stop it.
We could have the event where the Atlantians kidnaped many powerful mind controllers to place in their underwater mind amplifying towers. They are planing to use them as tools to control the people of earth. We are charged to save them and the world and destroy the transporter that leads them back to earth. [they can control the coralax with the amplifying towers currently and have been useing them to make modifications.]

Sign me up for the Historic Asian, Central American and Central African zones with their respective Dragon-Creature-Shape-Shifting AVs and TFs available through Midnighters. Tie in Incarnates from around the world, why not? Finally give us more potentially indigenous costume pieces, wild four legged critters we can attack, or a useful [nameable please] combat four legged critter.

yes. please. thanks. four legged rigs now available let's DO this . also, spider-skinned spider rigs please. would be nice to whack apart a few shelob-spawns that arent arachnos cyborgs.

Atlantis would tie in to Mu and Cot and Coralax lore more easily than Midnighters, and could introduce another race, or heck even another origin or EAT [hint hint water based powers with a little leviathan mastery and aquatic-amphibious frog-fish-shark-octopus men pets? reskinned arachnoids as crab...oids...? wait a minute... well i'd like those too actually].

Coralax was implied to be something being worked on as an EAT.

And, as another rebuttal to Anime-phobes, Titan Weapons. Martial Arts. Kinetic Melee. Numerous costume options. There's plenty of Anime in the game that everyone has been fine with. Besides, Manga is just as legitimate as any other type of comic book. Nobody bats an eyelash when they drop in Pulp Fiction. Quit picking on the weeaboos.

I still stand by my previous statement: No Yamata no Orochi or Nobunaga Oda, no sale.

Also, people will be butthurt over anime until Christ returns, on both sides. My philosophy is that I love anime/manga, cartoons/comics, and ponies, so F' you.

New enemy group entirely. The inca or mayan zone, that would eventually lead to an "Atlantis" mission. Bring IP back to life and have a mission story arch, you can only do at 50, that unlocks the zones. Dare I say have the Omega incarnate be unlockable by an Atlantis Trial/SF/TF.

If you must have someone there, have Pretorians be the only other group that knows about it.

That's why I put "if you must" I don't want any of the currect groups there. Just heroes, villains, mayans, and maybe a few Atlantis ancestors(mostly as contacts. Maybe the water enemies from rogue isles (I can't think of their names) on the shore/near water sources.
