Teaming Question

I played online today. This is a question for the masses.

I had a team with 8. My character was level 30. The others were 25 or less.
I get a disconnect. I come back online and tell the new leader. He's 21. He adds me back to the team since it's my mish but won't give me the star back. We go from decent Xp to wretched xp, 43-150 per kill.

In this situation what would you do? When I play online, I make the highest character the leader no matter what to maximize xp even if I'm the leader. I'm about leveling. Leading is insignificant to me in the big picture.

Why do lowbies feel the need to hold the reins so tight? They prolong their existence as a lowbie by not being aware of the big picture.

For some, it's not about the XP, it's about just playing the game.

If you are unhappy with the way a team is working, you have every right to leave and find or start a new one, or solo, or, of course, go complain on the message boards that the team you were on sucked because they didn't play the game the way you wanted to.

Awesome how free choice works, isn't it?

If it was your mission, then it shouldn't have mattered who was the leader since everyone would be fighting at +0 or -1 to the mission's level.

XP scales as well. I must admit I dont often take notice of XP, but it shouldn't of been that much less XP.
Assuming dif. settings are the same.

And as it was your mission still, it was probably just youir perception, as dif and xp would of been same no matter who had star in your mission.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

It's not so much a complaint as an observation. This game is so repetitive. I've been in the game about 1 and 3-6 months. I've done the mishes so much and been to every corner of the game. In the big picture, I just see everything as a stepping stone.

First, you got all the xp due you since it was your mission. Procedure or manners, my favorite thing is to get folks together and get missions up, On 8 man teams you can get more xp before you do someone's mission to outlevel it. That said, I prefer to get the missions while a friend recruits for PuG alignment tip missions and such. To me it flows faster, simply because I must be slower than most team leaders.

As others have mentioned, whoever is the leader is not important. Everyone will adjust to whoever's mission is up. If it is sill yours then the XP should be the same. I am curious if someone else DC as well. XP is worse per kill with 7 people vs 8 on a team.

If you've played for that short of an amount of time and all you care about is xp and leveling, well, you probably aren't going to be here that much longer. The game is about more than just getting to the level cap.

Not everyone care about leveling as fast as possible. They're not wrong just because it's all YOU care about. This may come as a shock, but some people just enjoy playing their characters, and it doesn't really matter to them how fast they level.

Please take this question as analytical and not rhetorical:

Why are you playing a game you do not seem to enjoy?

Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.

Maybe, just maybe, some people enjoy playing the game itself? Why do you choose only to see your own "big picture," and refuse to believe that other players could have an entirely different big picture in mind?

It's not "MY" big picture. It's the BIG PICTURE of COH...you'll play these mishes over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again

Did I say I didn't enjoy it? Everything in life is repetitive. You screw your wife/husband again and again, you go to work regularly, you pay bills monthly, you sleeply daily, you eating several times a day, you shower once or twice a day...do I need to go on?

With different combinations of players and powers each time, usually...

I was mentioning a specific experience, it wasn't a comment about the game in general. I'm classified as a hardcore coh player. I play at least 25-40 week and do a 4 coh weekend once a month with least 48+ hours.

The game is definitely about more than just getting to a level cap! I have no problems with people spinning themselves to nowhere just do it in the corner away from the rest of us. On Union, their called soloist.

To close out this thread, here was the solution. The rest of us left and formed another team without the control freak. He asked to join but was ignored. I mentioned it because ocassionally I run across things in the game I just want to talk about....

Funny thing is, that person would probably start a thread about how much of a control freak YOU were being.

Life is too short to worry about such things. All you had to do was finish the mission, leave the team, and be on your merry way. Anything you do beyond that doesn't really help your cause.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

So then what does it matter if you play them as lowbies or at level 50?

No I wouldn't....I approved this message.

If this is your first time playing I'm sympathetic but if you play this again, the thrill is gone.

No, it isn't. And that's the bigger picture you're missing.

I can have fun playing lowbies. I'm sorry that you can't.

If the early parts of the game are too repetitive...then the fact that "post 50" there are only two missions, and those two missions need to be run at least some 20 times to advance...means you probably shouldn't be in much of a hurry.

You keep twisting my comments, where did I say I was not having fun playing lowbies specifically? The game is repetitive if you can't see that I'm sorry.

No, it is *YOUR* big picture. If you're focused on the goal, and not the process, the game has a different feel to it. My goal is not to 'get to the end' or 'finish' a character. The whole point is the experience along the way.

And before you accuse me of "twisting" your words, like you did with someone else; "I just see everything as a stepping stone." Those *ARE* your words.

This is my view. I was playing my AR/Dev Blaster last night and didn't really feel like doing trials so I just ran some tip missions and had fun smashing enemies since between IOs and Incarnate Abilities I can run at +0/x8 without faceplanting to much.
