Hot on the heels of our last release is a minor little bugfix and small feature update:

Download file: Mids' Hero/Villain Designer v1.942

Release Notes

Mids’ Hero/Villain Designer 1.942 - May 2011

New features:

  • Regeneration and Recovery caps are now implemented, so you can see just how much your Destiny helps you.

Fixes & changes
  • Fixed an issue loading Arachnos Soldier builds.
  • Fixed an issue with IOs with grant power effects.

Known Issues
  • Windows Vista and Windows 7 have issues with the updater due to UAC interfering with writing to the Program Files folder. Many of these problems can be resolved by (a) installing as Administrator, (b) running Mids as Administrator, or (c) installing Mids to a different location than the Program Files folder.
  • Diminishing Returns for PvP mode have not yet been added, all buffs currently show their full, unmodified values.
  • The Power Graphs for the current build do not display effects for pseudo-pet powers like Ice Storm. This does not affect the Powerset Comparison, which is now fully aware of pseudo-pets.
  • 60 Month Vet reward button not added. *This means taking a Tier 3 travel pool power at level 6 or higher is automatic for everyone. *You need to know whether or not you are eligible for this reward or you must take your travel power at level 14 or higher.
  • Power Boost affects some powers that should ignore its buffs, such as Ice Shields.
  • Temporary and Accolade powers are not being affected by buffs such as recharge rate.
  • Alignment and, consequentially, Accolade powers will not load from saved builds.

When I load my main build (tank, elec/dm), I get an error popup with this message:

edit: Tried to rebuild the build from scratch, and started getting the same (or similar) error repeatedly. First time occured when slotting the +Perception IO.

I have that IO on my Controller, and get no error.

I'm getting the same error when viewing several of my saved builds, others are opening fine. If I close Mids while viewing a build that has the error and relaunch it gives the following message 'An error has occured when loading the main form. Error: Index was outside the bounds of the array.'

Crashes when attempting to hover over Gaussian's to-hit/end IO in Tactics on a Fire/Pain corruptor.

edit: actually this crash occurs anytime I mouse over that IO in any power.
edit 2: also occurs for Achilles proc IO.
edit 3: happening on a whole bunch of IOs.

Reverted back to 1.940 because the current version isn't useable for me with all these errors.

Errors occur every time I loaded it up. I got an error about an exception and had the option to continue using the program. When I do it often has weird visual bugs, like the info window being out of whack. Also got an "OMGHAX" error when trying to open the program.

Reverted back to 940 for now.

Posted

1.940 now tells me it has to apply a previously downloaded update to continue. It then creates a UAC prompt for mhdloader.exe that then seems to just go ahead and load the 1.940 version of the program.

Posted

I've uninstalled v1.941 and gone back to v1.940 for now.

Posted

Hoo, good heads up, gonna refuse updates for now.

Some kind of Schrodenbug... Didn't show up at all for me until you guys reported it, suddenly nothing works and looking at the source code, it can't ever (well, ever since I ported over that section of the code from VB to C# two weeks ago - part of why Mids 1.94 and Mids 1.93 are smaller than 1.92) have worked. Given that one of the two main builds I use for testing had Guassian's in it, and none of my QA people found it... I'm at a loss. Argh.

Anyways, it's fixed now. Hopefully, there won't be any other of these Schrodenbugs.

Thanks for the update!

Is there any way we can get a feature to scale down the Destiny powers that are capable of being permanent (Rebirth Radial, Ageless Core, etc.), so that we can see the how our characters perform when said power is at its most decayed?

The Regeneration on a Rebirth Radial Epiphany on my HP-capped Scrapper says I would be getting 301 HP/sec, but the in-game number shows 233 HP/sec. Something isn't calculating right there. Is my Spiritual Core Paragon throwing it off? When I toggle that Alpha off I get 178 HP/sec.

Hrm... more testing reveals that in order to get the correct Regen value you must have Rebirth Radial Epiphany already toggled on, then after that toggle on Spiritual Core Paragon.

It's on my short list.

Hm... Could you post the Regen% reported in your Real Numbers for each part of the Regeneration? I want to see what each component says and see if I can figure out what's going on. There was a bug earlier where some Incarnate effects were being applied twice and that might be what's going on here (the Alpha enhancement is getting applied twice to the Destiny).

Dunno if this has already been reported, but there's a small, low-priority bug with an easy workaround: if you bring up a powerset dropdown menu, click on a new powerset then immediately click on a power you'll get the power from the old set even though you've changed to a new set. That's confusingly worded so I'll just describe what happened: I was making a scrapper and decided to change his secondary from dark armor to electric armor, but accidentally double clicked on electric armor, picking up death shroud (which is the power choice at the same position on the screen as the electric armor menu choice) as a power even though I had just changed to electric armor.

The workaround is to just switch back to the old powerset and click on the power (multiple times if necessary) or to alt-click the power.

Here's the data chunk if it helps any:

That's confusingly worded so I'll just describe what happened: I was making a scrapper and decided to change his secondary from dark armor to electric armor, but accidentally double clicked on electric armor, picking up death shroud (which is the power choice at the same position on the screen as the electric armor menu choice) as a power even though I had just changed to electric armor.

The workaround is to just switch back to the old powerset and click on the power (multiple times if necessary) or to alt-click the power.

Here's the data chunk if it helps any:

That's an odd one. I'll have to think hard about how to fix that the best way...

Little bug I've noticed:

Dual Pistols Blasters: I can't seem to toggle Incendiary Ammo on, the other two work, Incendiary just won't click. Tried this is 4, 3 and 2 column view modes.
Dual Pistols Defenders: There is no Incendiary Ammo button.

It does however, work with Dual Pistols Corruptors.
