I love "Paragon", but how about... "Heroworld" or "World of Heroes"?

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
Where exactly - specifically - has it been stated that they are working on City of Heroes 2? Where exactly, in written words, in a press release, or announcement, have they stated they are working on, creating, City of Heroes2? Please post references and examples. Thank you.

Canning that chunk of employees last year was as clear a sign as you'd need...get on board CoH2 is a concrete certainty.......

In a word, no. In five: No, no, no, no, no. By the way Golden Girl, I rolled a character on Defiant. Where are my cookies you promised!!?

Names are no laughing matter. We need the name of this new project to convey what Paragon Studios hopes to achieve with the new game. However, City of Even More Heroes might be just a little too nakedly obvious. And no, its definitely still not appropriate to talk about Golden Girl's cookies.
We need to convey that this new game is in every way better than the competition, and so overwhelmingly awesome that people should fight for the opportunity to hand Paragon Studios their money while staring at the game tied to an intravenous drip twenty four hours a day. But I think City of Summer Glau would run into trademark issues.
We want to be more specific, and trumpet our commitment to the rich history and majesty of the comic book genre. We want players to know that playing this game will make you feel like you're not just a part of a comic book story, but part of the very fabric of comic books itself. Which would make Stan Lee Presents: City of Heroes: Excelsior! perfect, if we can get Stan Lee and if he's still alive when we launch. Actually, the latter is negotiable.
Honestly, though, I don't think Paragon has the same grand vision that I do. I think that when they decided "City of Heroes 2" was not quite right for their new super secret project, a call went out to the best creative minds in the studio, and after very careful deliberation they decided to rename the project: City of Heroes, Also. Because it sounds sort of like a sequel, and sort of like an expansion, and doesn't have any numbers in it. And as we all know, if its supposed to be called City of Heroes 2 the marketing posters will probably read City of Heroes 20.
You know the only reason we have things like Issue 19.5 is because they sometimes forget how many numbers there are between 18 and 20 (hint: its one). Don't you guys wonder why NCSoft bought out Cryptic at Issue 10? I think its safe to tell you guys this little bit of backstory now. Its because NCSoft asked Cryptic "so, what's next for Issue 11" and the devs said "Eleven? What's an eleven?" And NCSoft said "how about we just buy the game and take over?" And Cryptic said "how much for the rights to the entire game?" and NCSoft said "eleventy thousand dollars."

It requires dumbness.

Robot, I do think you're overreacting a little. Speculating that CoH 2 never happens is speculation, just not happy kind. However, considering there's 3 MMOs for supertypes and 1 more coming (not being exact), I believe there's money enough for CoH 2 to happen. Especially capitalizing on all the work already done in this game--plus, the guaranteed fanbase. Ideally, they should wait til after people get tired of the other stuff...
Anyway, Paragon sounds right, it builds on the CoH mythology without the clunkiness of being listed a sequel. Regarding Nemesis, I WISH this game would steal that idea. I never played Champions Online long enough to get a nemesis, and I really loved the idea. My current computer can't even run the game, unfortunately.
The real question is--when will there be a World of Crafting???
My pet peeve is people who refuse to acknowledge it when I tell them my character has unlimited power. If I rp attack them they are of course disintegrated beyond the ability of any hospital or magic to restore. Yet despite this they refuse to delete their characters and still keep playing them as if nothing happened. ~Mandu, 07-16-2010
Still don't care about Paragon. It doesn't grab attention/explain the product. I also don't like it because if they are making a new game, I hope there will be other places besides a giant city that is somehow located in Rode Island.

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life. Winston Churchill
I don't like Paragon. It feels weird having a pre-existing studio naming a game after itself. Personally, I would like something longer than one word. It should be somewhat similar to City of Heroes, but a bit different. I think adding a 2 to an MMO is a bit strange.
If there is a sequel, I hope it is set beyond just Paragon City, so maybe the "City" part can be dropped for something more expansive (sadly "World" will be too gimmicky now). |
As long as players don't confuse it for that other -garbage- game.
to TO THE END!

While I know that this thread is all in good fun, I'm curious - Why do so many people assume that a new MMO by Paragon Studios would be another super hero game? SOE already proved the folly of creating a game whose sole reason'd'etre is to cannibalize subscribers from your other successful game.
Whatever their new project is, it won't be a game intended to directly steal customers from themselves. It will be intended to open up a new market. Otherwise, there's almost no point in investing in the new game.

I don't believe Golden Girl's cookies are an appropriate topic for a serious thread like this, although I'm sure Ullikummis will be around shortly to correct me there.

Quite frankly, I don't see how speculation based on minimal information deserves two threads created by the same person in a short space of time, but I guess I'm missing something important...
