General Rant about Spider-Man and how IMO Marvel has destroyed this once great comic......

Marvel, how many times are you going to kill, clone, reset the past of Peter Parker? I mean seriously....every 6 months your killing him off or he's involved in something that ends up being a no win situation. Its just dumb and shows a lack of respect to the material that has come before. Sure some say that nothing is really "canon" and that each writer has his or her take on Spider-Man, but seriously Marvel, come up with something more original than the Death of BS....it is part of the reason I stopped reading many of your comics in the first place. To me it appears that you keep telling a variation of some story that happened 6 months to a year ago....I know that some folks have a short term memory, but geez.....

Uhhhh you know that is the Ultimates Spider-Man (Earth 1610) that 'died' not the Mainstream Spider-Man (Earth 616), right?

Also it's still not clear if Spider-Man is actually dead as you can see below from the most recent comic.

"Peter got a phone call from Mary Jane and she told him that Norman had escaped prison and will most likely come after Peters' family. A bystander pointed up to where Norman fled the scene to and Peter went to investigate the apartment above. Finding nothing there he once again headed out in search of Norman and the rest of his team of fugitives, when he spotted Captain America standing over a beaten Nick Fury and decided to intervene. Peter spotted the Punisher aiming his sniper rifle at Captain America. Not willing to see Cap die, Peter charged in to push Cap away, but got shot in the process; Peter suffered a exit wound through his left flank kidney. "

I think the argument can still be made that Marvel seriously ****** up Spider-Man. >.>

Seems to me rather then just trying to keep finding ways to "Fix" the problem with yet another story that people are gonna complain about, i say just erase the last couple years and say they never happened.

Seriously just take the character back to what? I guess pre-civil war, and just tell all the writer to ignore completely anything after. and no more killing aunt may, revealing secret IDs, deals with the devil etc.

Actually, I'd say one of the big mistakes of that time was not killing Aunt May, or rather not letting her die. They had a chance to have Aunt May dying as a result of Peter going public with his identity so the superheroes could look at that and decide to stop fighting each other at the very least but instead we get Cap surrendering so he can have some dumb ***** get in his face about Nascar and Facebook.

A big name hero dying in the Ultimates universe really shouldn't be any kind of shock by now. It was doing well too until they started killing them off left, right and center.

I liked some of the changes though. Spiderman being loved by the people of New York, the world actually having a reason to fear mutants.

Brawling Cactus from a distant planet.

Doesn't quite work when in the same continuity they love the fantastic four.

Mutants equal human extinction. Fantastic Four equal break throughs in science.

People fear the extinction not break throughs in science.

Note: Of course there are exceptions

It may seem a bit odd that people that would fall into the pitchfork and torches type behavior that the X-men have had to deal with would be rational enough to differentiate between supers various origins, but I guess the populace of the MU is just more scientifically savvy than the avg. populace in the real world.

I'm sure people are just as upset when the Thing gets punched through their apartment as they would be if it were Colossus, but the hatred of mutants stems from a fear for the survival of the species, not so much the individual.

Well, mutants were already feared and hated before Mags did that.

At this point I don't think that the supreme Marvel diety could kill Aunt May. I think she's made some sort of pact with Marvel Death.

Oh wait! She IS Marvel's Death! That's why she had no children of her own, and why she's still around!

But, that means that.... Thanos wants to hook up with Aunt May.

Eww...

The fact that he wants to hook up with the embodiment of death wasn't disturbing enough already?
