Animal pack fixes? Really?
I foresee much costume fun to be had soon. With the fixes to the Animal Pack and the coming addition of the Vanguard pack, this should be quite tasty!
*edit*
By the way, the title for this thread was inspired by the Angry Video Game Nerd's review of Action 52. Most of the games there are terrible and open with just a white text menu on a black background. So when he gets to a game that starts with a title screen, his response is "Wow, a title screen? Really?" In other words, it's a good thing, but it was just so unexpected.

Hmmm, I think you just want to see more breasts...

All the booster pack costume pieces could use new alternative textures (as well as the Vet reward pieces). Tech and Magical Valkyrie, Ninja, and Samurai textures? Yes, please. I could even see the Cyborg limb pieces getting an organic texture treatment.
Branching Paragon Police Department Epic Archetype, please!
My guess would be that a gorilla/ape head would have been easy enough to make, but it's the rest of the body that was problematic. When you consider most of the beasts we now have access to (big cats, wolves, and bulls/bovines) they are all four-legged creatures, whose limbs all end up about the same in terms of mass and length. To believably adapt them to the humanoid skeletons we have in-game, you simply lengthen the hind legs.
The bird model was a bit more of a stretch, considering we can't make our arms the actual wings. But again, adapting it to the in-game models was probably relatively easy, considering it was plugging a pair of bird legs on to the bottom of the "Monstrous" leg skeleton, and designing a realistic looking bird-of-prey head. For an ape, the problem is that they are already semi-bipedal (we evolved from them, after all). But they have longer (and in the case of gorillas, more muscular) arms, and their legs are comparatively shorter. If you put an ape's upper body on our human or monstrous lower body, it would look disproportionate. Who knows, maybe we will see a version of this in the future, but my guess is that they skipped it this time around because they wanted to get the pack out and trying to figure out how to make Simian features work would have pushed back the release. |
Think about the poo flinging(hardy har har) there would have been from the Ape/Monkey/Simian loving contingent. Plus, that's two or three different types of heads right there, add in another type of animal on top of a Ape/Monkey/Simian run? That's a pack right there.
The problem that I see with them having added Simian features would have been people complaining that Beast Run isn't really Ape/Monkey/Simian Run.

I thought CoX was rated Teen. The devs go out of there way to gen names and costumes that are inappropriate for the Teen rating. Nothing with a sexual nature or undertone is allowed due to the rating. Rightfully so though. Which is cool an all but what confuses me is now with booster pack 3. They are introducing cross dressing. It potentially opening up a huge can of worms. Now if you changed gender and it applied to all character slots then this would even have come up. but since you can have say 3 slots male and 2 female. Say what ya want but that is cross dressing and i would think that this would violate the Teen rating. personally i have no 'feeling' i need to work out about transgenders as you put it but i dont think cross dressing is appropriate for a game that my children or any1s child might and do play. I would say sry for actually having morals and values but i would be lying. But if you want you kids to cross dress whither in game or in Rl thats not my call. I for one dont want it. |

Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

Actually I'm guessing it's far more likely that some twit would find Simian costume choices offensive. Like the moron that claimed the Science Booster was promoting cross dressing/gender bending and would corrupt children.

the addition does address two of the biggest concerns about the Animal Pack - the lack of flat furry feet and the lack of a striped feline tail.
|
Like, the regular wolf tail added to the animal pack, and the ability to make THAT striped. I hate the bagworm tail, so my Akita goes tailless as does Razor Raccoon. My second biggest "must have" for the animal pack is a shaggy fur option for the body, arms and legs. The tech is in the game, just add it to the pack already. The third one is clawed hands to replace the Claws powerset. The fourth one is ape parts; a face, if not forearms. Fifth would be the feet.
