Allow us to downgrade Incarnate threads

like the title says, allow us to downgrade threads into shards, so that the alpha slot can be earned and upgraded by running trials, instead of WST and ITF farms

Corollary: allow us to choose Common OR uncommon when an Uncommon drop is received. Similar for Rare, Very Rare.

All of the Alpha recipes have thread salvage counterparts.

And what about someone who is halfway through an Alpha power using shards?

I believe you already can convert Threads into Shards, but at a pretty crappy exchange rate.

I could be wrong, though. There's no mention of such a system on ParagonWiki, but then again, it's a system that's only been in place for a week and a half.

I won't be able to verify until I check this ingame.

Just to repeat this, you can already use threads to craft Alpha enhancements, no conversion required.

Doesn't matter. Let's say you have a Spiritual uncommon that your crafted from shards and TF components. You can craft the rare power using solely thread components. After I20 launched you do not have to use shards again unless you want to.

you got it backwards, there is a shard to thread conversion (1:1 ratio once every 20 hours and 2:1 ratio with no limit, each costing 2.5 mil per conversion)

I was just online a few minutes ago and did not locate an option to use Threads rather than shards for the Alpha. I'm not saying it's not there, but rather asking for you to point where the option for using Threads exists. Pllllllllease.

They're underneath the Shard ones - you'll often have to expand the window or scroll down, a bit like the T4 "recipe" options.

check the scroll bar next to all of the alpha boosts, the first "recipe" uses shard components and the 2nd "recipe" uses thread components

Ugh, I'm so blind.

Thanks you two.

i wish they had a shard component and thread component option for all 5 incarnate abilities, then they could have a 2 way conversion (thread -> shard, shard -> thread) and wouldn't force people to only do the trials

incarnate xp should be limited only to thread conversions and trials though, but it would be nice to have other options

Not what he means.

Example; I had the Spiritual Uncommon lined up while only missing the Hero 1 DNA component.
I had no option to turn threads into shards to then make into said component.

Personally, I think Threads should be free to downgrade into shards, and the shard->thread transfer should also be free, but keeping the 1:1 every 20 hours, and the rest of the time being 10:5

Yea, there are some people who don't seem to understand that getting those 2 components I already have was a major time investment, and not something I want to just throw away. The alternate recipes are fine, but they don't buy back the time I spent grinding under the old system.

If you only need that one component, go do a TF. A Notice of the Well breaks down to 4 guaranteed shards which gives you any common component.
People already complain this is too complicated.

Then finish what you began. *channels Yoda*

and my suggestion makes it easier for the casual gamer, not more complicated. I don't understand why this would be a difficult thing for some to get.

Couple of things:

1) This is completely unnecessary. It's not that I don't get it, it's just not needed. The specific situation you posit, where you're mid-way through collecting the items for a craft, does not provide anywhere near sufficient justification to introduce a potentially confusing downgrade path. As we have explained, if you're starting from scratch with a combine, you can use either the shard of the thread recipe. So the ONLY reason for this idea is for those who are mid-way through a combine but don't want to just finish their combine via the shard activities (i.e. just playing the game).

Can you not see how such an idea is unnecessary?

2) The "I'm trying to help the casual gamer" argument is specious and I really wish people would stop using it. The "casual gamer" is an empty shell through which people pour their hopes, dreams and petty grievances. The term is meaningless because I doubt any two people would even agree what a casual gamer is. Furthermore, I don't see how this helps anyone I would consider a 'casual gamer' because they're going to be much more likely to be doing the shard activities anyway.
