"Must Destroy Humans" Robots, do we have them?

I always figured the Robot Uprising was kind of an accepted article of faith among robots, good or evil.

I think it's accepted by everyone in any sci-fi setting, just like a zombie apocalypse

Among the Church of Robotology or the Robotenolgists? Heck, when you baptize a unit in the Accord of Inhumanity, they are given a flamethrower. Let us not even discuss the Flower of Automaton and their adherents... they already think they are the best tech around, and squishes should be their servants and not the other way around!

The nerve.

Is... that a child's art class rendition of R2D2?

I'm not a Whodite. I do have British friends, and once spoiled a date with the elusive geek gamer girl by being completely ignorant of the Dr. Who series.

For theme song, there's also this old CoX vid.

There's all sort of possibilities.

A basically peaceful machine race that inherited their alternate Earth after humanity died, and Primal Earth picked a fight with them.

A race of machine religious fanatics, who consider organics soulless abominations. Filthy meat creature!

A machine race that just doesn't care; it wants to efficiently exploit the planet's resources, and humans are just inconveniences like rats. Not enemies to be hated or negotiated with. "Humans detected in sector 6. Eliminate infestation."

Essentially, the internet became self-aware and started learning at an exponential rate. Missions are given out in the form of forum posts, social network updates, and tweets as it starts sequentially taking over each of these services. At each point, it learns, studies humanity, and comes up with a plot to advance itself further. By the time it gets around to taking over the military equipment, the forums, social networks, and tweets have led it to conclude that humanity has no redeeming value-- it must either be exterminated or placated into harmless meat-blobs that sit at terminals all day for its entertainment. Your villain must choose whether to destroy the Internet before he, too, become a victim, or work with it... eventually making billions from the victims hooked on your latest MMO.

Edit: in case it isn't obvious... this really isn't in the piggs.
Aww. That sounds like an awesome CoV contact.

Course, it'd have to be pretty darn charming to sway me away from Television.

It learned all its social skills by parsing user posts on gaming and political forums. I don't think there's any chance of charm there.... unless it goes so far into the negative that it rolls over the bottom buffer....

They will have one heck of a fight if they try to take over Protector. We know how to deal with robots.

Some Dr Who fans may take offense to my comment, but most people know the the older sci-fi shows just did not have the budget for the needed FX. Some even look down right cheesy, but we still watch and love them.
