Ah geez, I was hoping for a happy announcement also. I was only able to tune in for a few minutes and hearing you and Kyo talking I got the feeling it wasn't very good news. Anyhow, I am also hoping for the 20% for ya Charlie.

I am taking my sig to MWO and MWT. Let them wonder what it means.

Charlie,

I'll try pulling some strings with the Boss on your behalf. You never know what the result of that may be.

Thanks everyone, it means a lot.

I have an exploratory on the 28th, and we'll be going from there on doing a possible trip out to Berkley for more tests and things...

I'll keep everyone updated!

I can't think of a life more worthy of celebration. You are the BEST, Charlie. Glad you are back. Will be looking for you. LOL, this is even my first post on the forums. This should tell you how much you mean to all of the Sallys. Love & hugs!

Sorry to be late to the party here, but...

... I have my fingers crossed for the 20% as well.

*hugs lots*

Saw the new surgeon for the exploratory today, and he has good news and bad news.

Good news: I'm a perfect candidate for the Berkeley procedure. And the occipital nerve is dead. I'll be having a temporary nerve block put in sometime in the next week or so to see if it can be safely removed before they ship me off to Berkeley.

Bad news: Depending on how that nerve block goes, I'll be in a wheelchair permanently. My balance center is severely damaged, it's just a question of when now.

Either way, the new procedure stands a chance of adding some time to my 3-5 year expiration date. We just don't know how much yet.

We're planning on putting a ramp on the front of the house for Charlie's wheelchair (so he doesn't have to live outside).

Right now, the only people in the house still capable of physical activity is me, so it's an awful lot of work.

DJ Abrahms is coming out on the 14th to lend a hand, and maybe a few other people, so we're turning it into a full-blown event. Instead of a barn raising, we're having a ramp raising!

If you're in the Lexington, KY area, or can get here for that day, we'll be feeding anyone who comes to help and also finding places to sleep for those that need it. I know Charlie will appreciate any help we can get, and so will I! The more hands we can get on this, the less difficult it'll be for everyone involved.

If anyone can plan on being here to help us out, send me a PM and I'll be more than happy to give directions, help work out plans, or whatever you need. Thanks!

There is a possibility that I could be visiting Hawesville, but I don't know when.

If it happens, I'll be glad to help out with anything you need done, logistics willing, even if it's just taking care of a meal or doing chores.

Well, unfortunately Charlie's appointment was postponed one week. Doubly disappointing the office decided not to tell them about it until they showed up in person, because a 45 minute drive (one way) is considered "local".

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

Thanks Abrahms. I was so MAD last night that I forgot to post the update.

Note: the receptionist who rescheduled me was the same bleach-blonde, Tammy-Faye-wannabe who told my primary surgeon 4 times in a row "we got the fax with his medical records, but not the referral slip." until the primary surgeon's nurse finally gave up and WALKED IT TO HER from the office across the street!

Bah! That's nowhere NEAR as fun as the "giant slingshot and a prayer" method!

Yeah, the landings are a bit rough, but hey!

That's an awesome idea, Hyper. Kyo can play Angry Charlie!...although I'm not sure what they'd be shooting at.

Lookin' good, Charlie. Keep us posted.
