Yup, I just don't make treads about stuff I like to tell strangers about...

I'm way behind on the second season, but it's building solidly on the first and adding some depth to the excellent cast of characters. With any luck, now that's its been renewed for a third, it could do for spies what The Venture Brothers is doing for super-science.

And much credit goes to the delivery of H. Jon Benjamin and the rest of the excellent cast. A line like "See how I let that just go by? Look at me. I am the perfect gentleman." isn't at all bad, but with Benjamin, it's Fort Knox-heist comedy gold.

I've seen 6 or 7 episodes so far and hope to see the rest of them eventually.
To me this show is like an updated, R-rated version of Sealab 2021 and I hope it'll last for as long as it can.

You don't watch Archer.

You experience it.

Favorite lines? Only ALL of them!

My favorite line to throw out in every day situations is, "And that's how you get ants!"

I was reading a back issue of Incorruptible last night and suddenly realized I was reading Max Damage's lines in H. John Benjamin's voice. I found it weirdly appropriate.

This would be a very solid, very funny show without H. Jon. With him, it's transcendent. At first I was a skeptic because I've always thought of him as the voice of the "schlubby everyman" rather than bad-azz superspy, but now I'm a believer.

I think some one's in the "danger zone"

Which he's performing with aplomb in the animated Bob's Burgers, which is just lifting off on Fox.

His voiceover career seems to swing between "schlubby everymen" (e.g. Coach McGurk in Home Movies) and out-of-left-field roles (e.g. the Devil in Lucy, Daughter of the Devil).

"I can't hear you over my deafening awesomeness."

Also, the recent reveal about Krieger was 3 levels of Awesome - awesome because it was predictable, awesome because it was the throwaway, "duh, of course" move for the writers, and Awesome because they did it anyway and pulled it off like pros!

He is great in Bob's Burgers too, but I'm really digging the female characters -
Kristen Schaal as (daughter) Louise has some of the most jaw-dropping one-liners uttered on TV, imo, and John Roberts (?) as (wife) Tina does one of the most grating, yet somehow endearing voicings I've ever heard on an animated character.

Wow, I just read a review online that reminds me WHY she is 'somehow endearing' to me. At the risk of dating myself... Edith Bunker. Nuffsaid.

I didn't catch onto this show until recently. The second season has been awesome. Snagged the first season on DVD and am almost through all of that.

Great show. The whole cast is remarkable, not just Benjamin.

I loved the close of last week's:

Pam (after stripping off her shirt and revealing some pretty frightening tattoos and about to deliver a beating to Malory): DOES ANYBODY WANT A PIECE OF THIS?

Shot of the rest of the cast...long pause...

Lana: Noooope!

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

Bonus points for inscribing Byron's Destruction of Sennacherib on her back (Cape Fear, eat your heart out).

I believe Aisha Tyler (sp?) is also on the cast. I think she was also a VA in the Halo games, but not sure.

I look at Archer as the what-could-have-been for Frisky Dingo, had [as] not royally screwed the pooch on renewing it.

There's also the tally. I assume it's of men she's beaten to death.

...OR YOU CAN POUT!

Archer was destined to be great. It was made by the guy that created Frisky Dingo who is also the guy that created Sealab 2021.

That's what the internets are for; most channels stream their content in one form or another these days.

Between this and Bob's Burgers, I am overloaded with H. Jon Awesomeness. Been a fan of his since Dr. Katz.

Of course, the rest of the voice cast is as awesome. Jessica Walter and Judy Greer in particular.

I was going to mention that I really like how Cheryl keeps changing her name. Judy Greer was awesome on "Arrested Development" in the few episodes she was on.

I'd also really like to know if they're recording the dialogue together or separately. The timing and overlap on many of the conversations seems incredibly too perfect. If they are all in the recording booth together, I'm even more impressed, because the timing of the cast to work with each other like that is amazing.

Separately, it would seem. (There's a behind-the-scenes clip on Amber Nash, the voice of the redoubtable Pam, on Hulu.com that features the recording booth.)
