6 hours downtime
Doesn't it make sense though for a game created and operated in North America to schedule maintenance times appropriate for that time zone? I understand the frustrations of the EU players, but you did know when you bought the game that it was created and operated in NA, so you could safely assume that all maintenance times would favor that particular time zone, right?. It's not like the devs WANT the servers to be down or anything. Why would they? They have to deal with constant complaints for every minute of downtime that exceeds the scheduled mainenance. It's an inconveniece for everyone, especially you guys, but I don't think the devs are intentionally giving EU players the shaft, it just happens to come across that way.

Going to point out that when I and most other EU players bought the game it not only had it's own forums but EU GM staffing, heck it had an entire office here in Brighton in the England.
Also when we bought it, it had EU specific maintenance times.
It hasn't always been the case of getting updates on US times only, only the really big updates would have this kind of stuff happen since they needed to wait for the Devs to get into the office in the moring before they'd roll out the new Issue just incase
Ermmm.... half a day, my bad. 25 cents rather..... I guess that ain't as bad as my previous estimate.

Careful there Drexyl, you mentioned that this game was created and is operated in the NA the EU players don't like that mentioned even if it is true.
Cancel the kitchen scraps for widows and lepers, no more merciful beheadings and call off christmas!
As pointed out above, it USE to be operated seperately in the EU under the NCsoftEU division when most of the EU players originally bought the game.
Ah crap. I was playing until 2:30 am or so. I guess that puts me in the risk time frame.
Oh well ... nothing to do but wait.
Thanks for the info.

I am not one who is complaining about the down time.
But I must just put you right on a few points in your post.
When most of us EU players started our servers were in Germany and maintained in the EU. So our down time was not any where near our prime time.
It's only in the last year or so that the staff this side of the pond were sacked and maintenance was run from NA.

Put your hands up if you think that as compensation for losing a full night of prime time the EU players should receive in compensation the right to keep their global names .. and the NA users should be made to change theirs.
Paragon City is in Rhode Island. We have jurisdiction here.
But as far as I can figure, Praetoria ended up in Whales.
ermm... Wales?
I assumed that they at least had an office overseas, but was not aware that the EU once had their own specific maintenance times. Thanks guys for clarifying that.
Hope I haven't lost Mo Apex badge from last night.
Fact is that we at EU have lost whole day since maintenance started early afternoon and still haven't ended (now is 10:30PM GMT - 11:30PM CET).
It would be nice to get double XP weekend or something for that.

Thats where I was clever hahahahah. I live in England, but play on the NA US of A servers hahahahaahahaha. So that means, eeerrrr, so that means eeeeerrrm. SO THAT MEANS, damn it, i no better off. Grumble, moan, kick the floor etc

Deleted as the post is now irrelevant. Damn, this thread is moving fast...
I guess this is what we do when the game's down. Forum Wars!

We had EU friendly maintenance periods and Bridger (anyone remember Bridger?).
The game has become more US centric over time and now with the server merge we will also likely lose our global names.
While arguably unavoidable, none of these things are exactly going to encourage the EU community to feel they are loved by the devs.

That's what it all boils down to.
If europeans on average would be less like "Heh... meh... bit too flashy kiddy for my liking - I'll take Battlefield 3 or maybe Rift if I really must play an MMO." it wouldn't be this way, but alas, that is the case.
Not all concept are equally popular in each part of the world.
Take Lara Croft, doesn't reach the east at all because eastern cultures generally are literally put off by her appearance. It doesn't match the eastern beauty ideals.

OH NOZE!!! I was in the base editor all night..... oh gawd no, the HUMANITY!!!
Exactly. I was one of the original people who petitioned NCSoft to provide EU servers way back when, partly for this very reason.

I spent I don't know how long rotating the entire base 180 degrees so you'd be facing north on the map as you come out..... do you have any idea what it takes to make that happen and look just like it did before!!!
