Only 44 deaths on our Posi 2. I am king of emps.

(Of course, it's probably only about 4, if you disregard PhillyGirl's deaths).

I hear from a good source that "dying tickles."

Thanks for the TFs last night Philly. I'm actually kind of looking forward to Synapse. Let's see how those friggin' Clocks like all that psi damage.

Mentors/Committee members-

Please go read the 2nd meeting notes on the hidden forums I need 4 people to help with the next meeting.

So far checking the SG/VG rosters- everyone who has created a character is at least of the minimum level (25) for the 2nd meeting (in 10 days).

I want to thank everyone who has run accelerated experience obtainment teams, as well as Flux and Philly for running Posi 1&2.

BC2 Participants-

The next meeting we will be covering "Survival in PvP". I will be posting some pictures and discussions by various vet PvPers on this topic in this thread so remember to check back and read new postings.

So far things have been going great and I am very impressed with the level of dedication and interest all of you have shown.

I used the build Masque posted and made some changes to account for getting accolades. I plan to use Cardiac Core Boost for the End Redux and Range enhancement (this puts me at ED cap for range and sustainable end use considering the toggles). I have some questions:
We will be discussing Incarnate boosts at a later date, I believe that during the first meeting (I could be wrong because I missed this part) that Flux went over the fact that we might set all matches to Heavyweight rather then Super Heavyweight and this may remove all incarnate slotting.

However, there is a toss up between slotting cardiac and musculature for alpha for the following reasons- Cardiac does indeed give you more range and psi blasters are notorious for being end hogs. However Musculature Core give about 20pts more damage per attack which would equate to about 80+ pts of extra damage coming in from all the psi blasters on target (80x4)= 320HP= 1/5th of the HP of a blaster just in extra damage.

(More on this later- I will discuss zone/duel vs team pvp)

Quote:
  • Is it worth 2-slotting phase when considering the no-phase period, which I understand to be 3 minutes?
Yes, the timer is 2 minutes and remember that +recharge is DR'd in PvP. So having 2 recharges guarantees that that phase is recharged when you need it. Remember there are other powers that also affect recharge.

Quote:
  • Is it worth using a slot on the Steadfast 3% IO when considering Diminishing returns reduced the effective defense it gives to about 1% if you have non-powerboosted Fortitude? (Diminishing Returns may have a significantly smaller effect if it works the way I think it does. That being it computes DR after it combines your defense with enemy to-hit.)
That Steadfast should be a kb not the 3%. I will edit the build to reflect the appropriate IO.

As far as DR, I have a very special guest lecturer who will be explaining DR to us. I will give you a hint- who is the top "numbers" person in the game today.

Quote:
  • Is it worth losing some general usability on Mental Blast for the set bonuses that the Decimation set gives? (gives +hp, +end, +rech, but forfeits some accuracy and range slotting)
For a top tiered PvP build I would use glad javs for all my ranged attacks, if however, I am missing some I will fall back on Decimations for those reasons you outlined- the same +hp as ruin, a very nice +max end, and some recharge. However, in keeping in mind that these builds have to be as inexpensive as possible and again, not having to run TFC is a very nice bonus to some people who want to learn PvP without investing a lot of extra hours to get to the HP cap.

Quote:
  • Will I want to run Sprint in order to reach the run speed cap, or is that not as important since I will be primarily relying on SJ?
For the blaster builds no you won't need to run sprint, however, you will need to run both SS and SJ all the time. I typically will throw a stealth IO into sprint and toggle it on as well. For some of the other builds where I only used 1 micro, or if you don't have the funds for Micros then yes toggle on sprint.

Quote:
  • Is the Stealth proc of any use, considering the CM and tactics that will be going around on the enemy team?
Yes, always try to maintain as much +stealth as possible, we will be talking about this during the next meeting which will be covering *survival skills*. Remember, that the stealth vs perception battle is not all or nothing, its a game of distance so the more stealth you layer on the 'less' distance you need to put between yourself and your attackers.

Quote:
  • Will it ever be worth the endurance to run Maneuvers or Assault?
I run assault, never maneuvers. That is the reason I place my kismets in stealth because I do run stealth.

Quote:
  • What about a Hibe build?
Some people still use hibernate builds in team based pvp (remember we are doing team not zone or duels) however, the benefit of PFF and temp Invuln is just too great to pass up (imo). Temp invuln will give you about 40% resistance to all damage types (this includes psi) therefore you will be taking 40% less damage during a spike. Frozen armor is ok, it allows you to slot 2 kb ios and hoarfrost gives you the ability to heal yourself twice a match but thats about it. For me- 2 extra greens and KB that I don't need isn't worth losing out on 40% resist.

Quote:

One other thing I could do with this build is free up 4 slots, remove assault, pick up a stun power and 5 slot that with Stupefy just for the set bonuses, but I generally don't like to pick up a power just to be a set mule.
I wouldn't give up more +damage for recharge or +HP you don't need. Remember your job as a blaster is to load as much damage onto a target in a single attack chain. If something doesn't die in 5-7 secs of you clicking your first attack the chance of you (the team) getting a kill drops dramatically. So you want as much damage coming in as possible in that first attack chain (4 attacks).

One thing I will state is that team based PvP is a lot different then zone or duel PvP. Remember you are relying on heals coming from your healer. This also includes buffs in the form of AB/Fort/CM/Painbringer/Enforce Moral/Forge etc.

Also remember that you can pick up a full tray of insp before each match, (we will also be going over inspiration usage, in a future class) so you should be able to adjust your insp as necessary for your play style. If you find yourself spike target a lot, bring all greens. If you evade like a champ then bring 3 lines of reds. If you were not able to afford a build high on +end and recovery, carry a few blues.

All great questions Hemm, and very useful for sparking some discussion about these topics. I am glad you are bringing up these types of questions, and if you have any more I know we have lots of mentors who are more then willing (as I am) to answering yours of anyone's questions about what we have covered so far or build specific questions.

Can we make it a ... four hour long Synapse? Just so nobody ever runs them ever again? :3

Those of you new to Emping and Arena play may be missing some of the metagame subtleties of the format. I've taken the liberty of making a Stick Person Theater based on my own experiences. The final frame is especially accurate. >.>

LOL

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know that I'll probably have to skip Synapse tonight. I have to be elsewhere at 10 PM Eastern for about 30-45 minutes and don't want to ditch you guys mid-TF.

I may end up running another one later tonight or potentially tomorrow (TF Commander will be mine!)

Posted

Synapse took about 2 hours 45 mins. We had something like 74 deaths; I think I was about 20-30 of them. Painstaking but fun. Thanks for putting it together Philly and Flux.

Evasion classes will apply to PvE too!

Omg I love skool computers... I can access the forums

Posted

For those people around tonight, we will be gathering on vent and maybe setting up some low level pvp.

Not an offical meeting, but maybe just a nice break from grinding trials.

Remember if anyone has any questions you can always PM me on the forums or ask them on this thread. I've been told I miss a lot of in-game PMs (and I thought I was doing well of answering them), so on the forums might be best.

Bah... I haven't even created my toon yet. Been to damn busy IRL. That and I can't think of anymore Turkey names...

Hope the impromptu meeting went well. I was moving out of my apartment, so wasn't able to make it on last night or until now today when I just got my computer set back up again.
