What do you think is next for Incarnate abilities?

The Incarnate abilities so far are, for the most part, pretty good.

They cover all the obvious abilities players could want:

-A virtual 7th Enhancement slot.
-A powerful attack.
-Pets.
-Proc effects for your attacks.
-A powerful buff for self and team.


What else is there? With the "easy" ideas taken, what could the remaining 5 existing Incarnate slots hold?

-I think the most obvious would be an aura of some sort that debuffs/damages. Wouldn't surprise me if an ability similar to Lady Winter's showed up.

-A potent single target melee attack. If Judgement can compliment a Blaster's nuke, another attack could similarly give everyone their own pocket Assassination attack, and give Stalkers a double whammy.

-?

Past that, I'm out of ideas unless I know if they're going to get into 'out-of-the-box' territory and into some weird stuff.

What does everyone else think?

I think the Omega slot will work a lot like the Alpha slot. Everyone could benefit from another of those, especally if it boosts the powers in the other slots.

One of the slots could boost HP or End directly. That slot might also boost your rolls for loot (Luck), making you face a very important choice as to what you want slotted in there. I have no idea what fourth "stat" it could boost, however.

How about some cosmic travel powers ... my Incarnate needs his own boom tube (or dimensional aperture device to avoid legal issues)

IIRC, the "flash forward" in Ramiel's arc shows powers like a PToD-style status protection, a PBAE damage aura and a "radial freedom" effect that gave range to melee abilities.

Of course, I try not to remember that arc so I could be wrong.

  • Buffs to AT modifiers (e.g. increasing ranged damage mod by .5)
  • Additional critical chance (e.g. +15% crit chance on all attacks)
  • Critical bonus (e.g. Criticals now do 2.3x damage)
  • Absolute (instead of percentage based) boost to powers (e.g. +500 damage to all attacks)
  • Reflect buffs both offensive and defensive (e.g damage shield or reactive healing)
  • Uncapped Health/Endurance boosts
  • Damage type modifiers (e.g. All Lethal attacks now act as Fire attacks)
  • Inherent debuff/control protection
  • Base to-hit/defense buffs (After we lock Arcanaville away until it goes live)

That's off the top of my head. Give me some time and I could come up with more!

A potent AoE mez power? (I know Cryonic Judgement and I think Ionic Judgement can have Hold added to them as they go up in the tiers.)

A team heal/rez power?

A self buff (armor) power? (I'd really love some damage resistance on my SR Scrapper...)

Maybe a power that fills your inspiration tray, or allows you to convert tier 3 insps into Incarnate inspirations?

I'm just grasping beyond that.

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

Nothing says "I am an incarnate" like merging with a giant mecha! Improving the giant mecha slot could give the giant mecha cool new abilities to add to your own. Laser salvo! Missile massacre! Rocket fist punch! If they don't add a giant mecha slot, I'm not going to use any new incarnate slots!



(Just kidding. I'm not using the incarnate system at all. Still, it would be fun to see some new anime-style giant mecha flying around town.)

Let's have a look at what we already have...

  • Global Enhancement Slot (with non-Incarnate Level Shift)
  • AoE Attack
  • Temp Pet (with Incarnate Level Shift)
  • Debuff Proc
  • Team Buff (with Incarnate Level Shift)

So perhaps, as a kind of mirror to what we already have, we could get...
  • Self Buff (with Incarnate Level Shift)
  • Damage Proc
  • Perma-Pet (with Incarnate Level Shift)
  • AoE Mez
  • Global Enhancement Slot (with non-Incarnate Level Shift)

Well What I want as an incarnate Power is a way to Tap into another Power Pool or another Power Set, like being a Blaster having access to the Tanking Class Powers, Muh hahaahha TALKING ABOUT OVER POWER!

I'd say controls. We have defender(corr/controller)-like buff/debuffs, MM(controller)-like pets & blaster(corr/defender)-like nukes w/I20. Those buffs also replicate many melee-style protections. Pets might be a controller thing, but their (and Doms') main powers (to be encroached into) are controls, so I figure that's what's coming next, as I see Incarnates as becoming largey AT-free.

4 Trees of control: Holds, Stun, Confuse and... Sleep? Fear? Immob? All w/various debuff side effect, sub-branches.

I don't see a problem with the buffs from one Incarnate Power overlapping with another. There are the different options, after all, so you don't have to pick the same ones twice... and it also lets teams fill in each other's gaps.

For example, let's assume that the Vitae slots are personal toggle versions of the Destiny slots (of course I have to idea what Vitae really is, but this is just for the sake of argument). So rather than a team buff/heal, they only affect you. If you went with Clarion Destiny, then you choose something else for your Vitae boost... maybe get a nice +MaxHP and +Regen buff, or boost your defense/resistance. But if you DIDN'T go Clarion, then you could go the +status resist Vitae power instead, and fill that hole.

And of course, Destiny powers are designed to be AoE buffs, so even if YOU don't need the buff, maybe the rest of the team or league DOES. I'm certain it'll be very popular at Mothership raids...

Ever since the enhancement window was modified to show another (7th) possible slot in powers, I thought that one of the incarnate abilities (Omega?) would allow us to place in an extra slot that in and of itself has bonuses as well as being slottable with the enhancements we have now.

For example, the common would be 1 extra slot with an added effect, uncommon would be two, rare would be three, and fourth would be a stronger added effect to the three extra slots. To make it better than the alpha, the extra effects and slotted enhancement would bypass all of the ED cap.

How about a reduced power version of an other ATs inherent, or tweaking your current inherent ability. (take a blaster and add corrupter scourge frosting)

I thought that this was found to be just a side effect of changing to UI to scale with higher resolutions. At really high screen res, it could appear that there's room for several additional slots, but at the bottom of the res scale, the enhancement UI appears full.

I know this idea is totally overpowered, but I think it'd be really fun if the AT inherent powers could be crafted. Blasters with Scrapper crits! Tanks with Troller containment! Blasters with MM /bodyguard where the rest of the team acts as the Defender's pets muahahaha!

Yeah...Having just run that mission recently I can say you're very wrong indeed...


Personally? Hoping that the Omega Slot is a fully customisable 'Signature' Attack/Power. If anything deserves to be made into a proper signature move, that does. And frag alone knows people have asked for them enough. Theres even a stickied thread about it, for crying out loud.

A second Alpha, while cool, would sit pretth badly as the 'Ultimate' Slot IMO.
