Anyone worried about Queue?
Only way I'll be able to trick people into teaming with me, so I say BRING IT ON!!!!!
I've already forgotten about most of you
lol I'm not as worried about the people that play on victory cause we have a pretty tight and active group imo. but I was just getting flashbacks of other games when I had to join a queue to get a group, and then after like 30min waiting around we all get in and there is no team structure or anythign and it just ends up being a total fail. thats what I am basically wondering if this is going to happen here? can we form up a team and stay together before stating a leauge? I honestly can not get a straight answer on this from the devs or testers now. just wiggin at the thought is all.
The Queue system is the best thing to happen to this game since Speed Boost. I think it will be met with two reactions:
1. Vets - If they don't have anything better to do, they will queue up, end up in a team with Hamster and Voodoo, and everything proceeds as normal.
2. Non-Vets - OH GOD I FOUND A TEAM ON VICTORY, GLORY BE!
People who don't like PUGing will avoid it as usual and either roll their own teams or solo.

OK I have played games that use anyone can queue systems to form teams. Here is the more then typical result.
1: team forms people take 1 look at each other and say NO WAY! and quit. 2: A random person has no idea whats happening and ultimate team fail till people quit. 3: no one uses it and does somethign else instead. 4: Everything takes 3x the time it should have and people never want to do it again. 5: People join and its all weak build n00bs and they can not win the battle cause there is no tanks and no healers. Common outcome. FAIL. Just curious, Personally I hope we can still form teams the way we always have in the past for these things. But if this becomes the norm, I can see a whole new level of rage team quiters emerging. |
1. First try I signed up solo and was "assigned" to a team. When we teleported into the BAF the "TEAM LEADER" was in panic mode because he never wanted to lead and had never done the trial before.. he was just the first person to join the queue when that team was built.
2. Same trial as above the team consisted of the first 8 players that logged into the queue while teams were forming. No leadership decisions to ensure we had enough damage, buffs, debuffs or whatever... We ultimately failed BADLY.
Now the second time I joined a team in Pocket D and then the team leader, who had done the trial before and built a team based on what was needed and what was available, joined the queue.. we all immediately joined as well as ONE team. Much much better results
The Queue can be a very effective tool to build multiple teams for doing anything from a Mothership Raid, Cathedral of Pain, Hamidon Raid or the new trials (BAF and LAMDA Section) but to ensure you get a winning mix its better to team build first and THEN join the queue. Unless you like the idea of Russian Roulette team building and have the attitude ..."okay let's SEE if we can make this work!"

Eh, not sure what to expect. Worried about it being the hot item 1 week, then the desolate wasteland the next. Sorta like the COP trial right now. I would like to try it a few times, but when it came out, RL had me elsewhere and missed the boat on it. Imagining trying to get 24 people together with WSTs and such going on...no way.
I am just a doomsayer for now without knowing the future incarnate stuff. I've said it before about the time when I played DAoC. When ToA came out, I just had my second kid and by the time I got playing again, I couldn't get anyone involve with those later trials and never could compete in RvR anymore. So I quit, and ended up here...yikes!
The Q won't work for forming teams to do standard radio type missions though... Right?
It's just for TF's and Raids... Right?

Queue should only be for Trials I think, why would I need 24 people in an ITF ?
Looking forward to seeing this, but I doubt we will have much of a problem forming up for these things as like Mental Giant said "People who don't like PUGing will avoid it as usual and either roll their own teams or solo." , so you are left with people who join because they actually want to play the content. If we run into an issue, I am highly sure nobody will object to a "Can you please bring X, and we'll try and queue up again?"
I 'm curious, does anyone know if you can queue up for more than one event? Or is it just for the BAF trial? Hopefully if this is a new system for tf's and such where you can queue for itf OR stf OR Hami Raid etc etc etc. depending or which fills first. Also not sure how it might work if you want/need a particular tf on a particular toon but want to solo something else in the mean time.
Needless to say I'll be interested to see it implemented but I can see using this alot if its done right or not at all if it seems to cumbersome. Doesn't seem to me to be an in between kind of thing.

you can queue up for the first one available
and i think the queue will be alright, since you can still pre-form the team before entering a queue, so you can get the required amount of poeple before even starting the trial then entering queue as a whole league and just do the trial with a team that you know what the outcome will be
There are currently only two events listed in the Queue - BAF & Lambda. Your choices are:
- First Available (whichever of the either two meet the minimum requirement of necessary players)
- Behavioral Adjustment Facility (min 12 players)
- Lambda Sector (8 players)
Now, if the minimum is met and the confirmation to join the event window pops up, but only 7 people (assuming it's Lambda) confirm and the 8th is "sleeping" - you'll get dumped back into the Queue to wait

1. You get to play with different people. Broaden your mind! It takes real skill to win with any team. I'm tired of the Pseudo Leaders I see online who think being selective about everything and leaving people off of teams who can contribute. It's a waste and inconsiderate to have people come online with the little time we all have to waste it looking for a team.
2. No more having to post LFT or LFM. I'm hardcore and I'm wasting too much time looking for teams. On the new large teams, a new system has to be implemented. I can't spend/waste time trying to recruit very large teams.
3. On EU Servers, the users are mainly solo. I've never seen anything like what I see on those servers. They get mad when you tell them asking to team...in an MMORPG! On the teams, they fight and boot each other over petty stuff. It's no surprise the servers are so low volume. Tolerance is still a useful skills to acquire in 2011.

Wouldn't it be nice if once you were on a full TF and someone decided to drop that the system would pull the next person in que and add them to the ongoing TF. With full end of TF rewards of course.
Just a thought, cause I can just see people starting a TF then saying,
"sry gtg, dinner is rdy" then you've ended up wasting your time if you don't have enough ppl left to finish the TF.
As I understand it, we can still form teams for these events, or at least plan things out and adjust as needed. So if you don't want to lead, you can shift leadership, correct? So I don't really find too much to worry about there.
I'm sure there will be some kinks in the system, but just adjust with them and figure out what works best. We'll get there.

Even if you join via the LFG tool and get ported into the iTrial with X amount of players and find you have The Star - you can always pass it someone else who has a death wish.
Strangely enough, I never seem to have problems finding folks for teams...
