Doctor Who's Brigadier has died. :(
Aww man. The Brigadier was awesome. And so was Nicholas Courtney.
I have to confess, I've always had this niggling feeling that the new Doctor Seasons (as good as they are) aren't quite 100% really Doctor Who because they haven't had the Brig in.
However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator
A sad day for Dr. who fans indeed.
Confirmed altaholic with 70+ alts in coh and cov...yes i know thats alot! Playing coh since beta test phase.
Very sad indeed.
It's a shame he never got to show up in the new series, even if only for a cameo.
I had so hoped to see him on the new Dr. Who... *sigh* At least he was able to make an appearance on the Sarah Jane Adventures, so some of the new Dr. Who fans will know who he was.
Favorite Brigadier episode: The Three Doctors. Watching him try to wrap his head around his first doctor coming back (#2) while his second doctor (#3) was still there as well was priceless.
What a shame. He was one of the best supporting players the show ever had.

Oh no.
I am sad beyond words....I grew up with 'The Brig'. And Nick Courtney was a wonderful man at his convention appearances...if you ever get to watch the DVD of The Three Doctors, do watch the convention appearance on it. He's so funny and charming.
All the Whovians here salute you, Brigadier. Five rounds rapid.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart: "Pompous, self-opinionated idiot" I believe you said, Doctor?
Doctor Who: Yes, well, we don't want to bear a grudge for a few hasty words, do we? No, not after all the years we've worked together. Come along, my dear fellow. Put on a smile. Let's remember all...

Definitely sad news.
Godspeed to a wonderful actor and person.
Brigadier: Get off my world! Blue Chap with Horns Who Calls Himself "The Destroyer": Pitiful. Can this world do no better than you as their champion? Brigadier: Probably. I just do the best I can. |

I kept hoping he'd show up.
I didn't know he'd been on SJA. I'll have to go check that out.
I'm sad now.

When I was a young lad living in the UK in the mid-70s, the ONLY Dr. Who I knew was Tom Baker (I later learned of Jon Pertwee, Patrick Troughton and William Hartnell upon coming home to the States). And, the Brigadier was as solid and dependable and so very-very British as one could hope.
Mr. Courtney, you shall be missed...
One more reason why I need to replace my copy of "More Than 30 Years in the TARDIS", the DOCTOR WHO documentary that he narrates.
The man was an institution unto himself.

Nicholas Courtney has passed away, aged 81
Massive loss to fans of anything Doctor Who related, the man was a legend and still playing the role up to last year in Sarah Jane Adventures.
