I find it offensive that players that prefer to play solo are automatically considered "casual"

There need to be difficult solo trials that allow players that sometimes just want to play and not to socialize to receive similar benefits to groupies. And Issue 20 is looking really bad for soloists.

Hi Beelzy

I felt the same way you do..until I read the below...and until the meaning of the below actually sunk in...reading and truly understanding are two different things for me it seems

About That Accessibility Thing
For our more casual players, we have added an option for you to continue to build your way up the Incarnate Tree by collecting Incarnate Shards without doing any Incarnate Trials--you will even get Incarnate Shards when you are exemplared down. It will take longer than it will take by participating in Incarnate Trials, and you’ll miss out on some epic storylines, but you will be able to claim your seat at the Incarnate table nevertheless.

Now my day feels like it will be full of rainbows. That is all I wanted and hoped for. I know it will not be as fast, and I will miss all the excitement of the Taskforces..but..I find I can stir up my own excitement by rocking the difficulty levels and power choices..and I can always peer over Mark's shoulder and live it through him

Dang it all, I need to get over my phobia about teaming. I am not the player I was when I first started. Granted I crash into walls, but I do know how to read and follow a map now, and if it one of those crazy winding maps I am not at all shy about yelling "I'm Lost."

I don't type fast, but while fighting I really shouldn't be sending chat, and if I let folks know in advance that I am a slow typer I won't be seen as snobby and standoffish.

Hmm.because I often smack into walls, I never have sprint, or the various runs, on in a mission unless It is a straight shot to where I am going, and I know I have time to turn it off before fighting. This is where my getting lost comes into play because EVERYONE has sprint on in missions.

Hmmm....I think, I think, I am ...afraid to fail again...No, I am afraid to fail in front of others. In order to learn new things, you have to accept that failing is part of it...which I am ok with when it is just me, but failing in front of others is....shudder.

I need me some of that Tiger's Blood

Lisa.

Which sounded wonderful back when they posted it...but you still need to do the Trials to UNLOCK the slots to fit the pieces you craft with the shards you get while solo...

Oh, wait, can't even REALLY do that with anything resembling efficiency, since they added a whole bunch of other components...which you CAN crsft out of shards- but the Shard droprate still sucks. So. We're back to 'having to team'.

Things to remember:
-Common sense ain't;
-Overkill is the only kill;
-If someone asks if you're a god, run away.

Except that you don't need to do the trials, you can use shards and/or Notice of the Wells (from WSTs) to break down into threads and or convert into threads (with or without influence and/or the 18 hour timer). You can use said threads to convert to IXP and unlock your slots, it's exactly how I unlocked my Interface Slot and by the time I DID do a trial, I had 2 of the 3 common componants I needed to slot the common for it, and I got the last from the common drop table I got at the end of the trial. Had I wanted to I also could've run another weekly and/or converted shards and built that last piece and slotted it solely from there.

Yeah, if you're going to do WSTs you still "have to team" though you don't have to run trials. If you refuse to team at all, then yeah you'll be converting shards as there's no other recourse for you, but as has been covered numerous times before all over the CoH forums, playing an MMO and flat refusing to team is plain silly. You do have the option to do it though, which is not the case in 99% of other MMOS out there, especially for any measure of what they consider "endgame content" (which the Incarnate Slots are).

Also..way to necro the thread.
