I just know I got around 9 shards on an ITF. Plus the incarnate salvage at the end.

I've run it twice since unlocking Incarnates and I haven't noticed the Silos missions giving any more shards than other missions. The difference between minions/lieutenants and bosses is much larger than the difference between bosses and elite bosses.

Farm the LGTF with your friends. Done right, you can get 10-15 shards per run. I did my character for all 270 shards during the last week of December. Also, you can buy the Grai matter at the Vanguard stations with merit points. Kill everything, avoid the speed runs!!

Also, on the LGTF, you can run it back to back and the shard drops don't reduce. Plus you get the merit points too. This is the best one for shards because of the Rikti. Consider this the 2 for 1 Alpha Drive.

One thing I think might be worth trying with a big group is farming DE Monsters. A large group can take them down quite quickly, and they may drop shards at AV rates.

I really should do something about this signature.

Here is what I do. I go for cardiac boost since I find that alpha to be the most useful for the most characters. When you have 20+ 50s you don't always know what is best but it is a good idea to have it slotted and ready to go.

This is what I do. Block about 2 hours or so and do....

1 MS raid = about 500 vmerits + 3 shards. That will give you 3 Gr'ai matters. 2 is enough to get you most uncommons.

1 speed ITF = Ancient Nictus + 3 shards

I then take 1 Gr'ai matter, Ancient Nictus and 4 shards (convert to hero1 sample) and I got my Cardiac boost.

When the character is decked out and I have completed my mids build, then I think about seeing if another alpha would help, by then I would probably have enough to get whatever uncommon I want.

Best way to generate shards is go for "shard ITFs" Lots of targets and no shortage of people who want to run it.

H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster

I normally get at least 8-10 shards on an ITF run. Last night only got 5.

My highest shard collection was on a kill all LGTF where I got 13. That was a long TF as we were very thorough. It was almost too long.

Uber Talgrim - level 50 emp/dark defender
Uber Rod - level 50 dark melee/regen scrapper
Rod Valdr - level 50 invuln/SS tanker
Talgrim - level 50 ninja/dark mastermind

OMG!! Please add these costume designs now!

As someone who habitually attends Hamidon raids, which require you to farm between 5 and 50 GMs to get Hamidon to appear, I don't think they drop enough shards to make it worth while. I know people have reported them dropping shards, but I personally have never gotten one from them, despite attending several raids a week.

Minimum I've gotten off an ITF is two.

The thing about the ITF is it has a lot of EBs.

I have been doing a lot of tip missions, too. Since my post on the 12th (8 days ago) I have received 1 shard and that was from a CoT in the Portal Corp parking lot. At this rate I will need something like 40 weeks to get my uncommon.

And now the next tiers are due to open up. I am sad.

I think as far as Incarnate Shards go,
The chances of getting a shard is equal among all minions, lieutenants, bosses, eb's and AV's and Giant Monsters such as Hami and the Mito's. (eg - for each of those groups)

That being said,
The rate at which you can acquire them, depends on a few things.

1. Luck - A roll is made - so you need to put your trust in the fates.
2. Mob Size - Some mobs types spawn with larger mob's that others. Some Mob Types can also self rez which gives a further roll chance for Loot.
3. Kill Rate - As far as Farming goes, being able to take out large groups fast, is the 'ka-ching!'.
4. Not entirely sure, but the size of the team, may affect how often you 'Personally' get a shard. Eg- I dont know if a shard roll is made, and then it is randomly given to someone on the team or not, or if the shard roll is made for each person on the team etc.
It may be the case that your own chances of getting a shard, are higher if you solo, but at the same time, it is more difficult to farm.

As far as Point 1 goes, not much you can do about that.
Point 2 - My choice would be to go for Freakshows and/or Clockworks, failing that, go for Rikti.
Point 3 - This will very much depend on your Build/PowerSet and Team Powersets etc.
My Fortunata is a leathal Psi-Blaster, who does massive damage to foes who lack resistance to Psi, but at the same time ,his Foresight power grants incredible resistance to Psi too.

For point 3, from a personal point of view, I would choose for the Survivability, to face off against Rikti, since all of their Psi Attacks more a less bounce off me like ping pong balls. On the LGTF, especially on the last mission, it is entirely possible to get about 6-7 Incarnate Shards from the last room with Honoree, and the Mob sizes are beautiful, gather them up, use a few AOE attacks such as Ghost Widow's Patron Power that does Ranged AOE damage, which takes about 1/5 of their health off, then Let Loose a Psychic Wail, which either kills them , or leaves them on deaths door.

Psionic Wail usually kills a good few of them, and gives a good chance of an
'Incarnate Shard Bonded' message showing.

Azmodan - 50 - Storm/Energy Blast Defender
Baaleos - 50 - Gravity/Power Blast Dominator
Orici - 50 - Fortunata
Psi'on - 44 - Kinetics/Psionic Defender
Azazeel - 40 - Warshade
Bloody-Ice - 31 - Ice/Cold Domination Corruptor

1. Nice thread necro. You get a badge for that.

2. Leandro did some homework on the drop rates. The higher the rank, the higher the drop rate. His tests last month came to Minions at a drop ratio of 1:1100 or so, to the Hamidon-class AV where the drop rate was like 1:6. I tend to agree with this estimate, I have a better drop rate when doing lvl 50 TFs that have more EBs and AVs than the regular runs (say, the LGTF, vs the Ruladak TF).

PvP. I have gotten almost as many shards killing players as non-players.
