Is there a power set that looks a lot like smoke or even gas? Im looking for the closest set here.

Dark melee kind of.

Yeah a Dark/Dark melee character is probably your best bet. Another option might be Fire Control if you coulored it right. The fire rings around enemies could kinda look like smoke rings.

The radiation sets Generate smoke clouds for the majority of it's powers as well.

Storm's Steamy Mist looks a lot like smoke when recolored. The same is true of Lightning Storm. Fire Control actually has smoke as part of the power effects.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

Now as a side note, does anyone agree about a set all about toxic damage?

Poision, but you'd have to be a mastermind, Radiation is as close as it gets, again.

I have a Rad/Dark defender, and Dark Blast can be recolored putrid green and red to match Radiation Emission and even surpass it. Your attacks look like you are hurling toxic waste at enemies.

fire has similar stuff

poison has a thing where you breathe out smoke

Dark Miasma can be colored to look like smoke, and Dark Melee / Dark Armor can also look smoky / misty.

As far as poison goes, the only power sets that deal any significant toxic damage are:

Spines (Lethal with Toxic DoT)
Night Widow (also Lethal / Toxic)
Bane Spider (Energy / Toxic and Smashing / Toxic I believe)
probably Thorny Assault
Dual Pistols with Chem Ammo (80% Lethal, 20% Toxic)
Demon Summoning (the whip attacks are Fire / Toxic and Hellfire based demons do some Toxic)

A few other sets have a little toxic damage, but those are the main ones I can think of. The Poison MM set is (obviously) poison based, but it doesn't actually do any damage. It just debuffs the heck out of things.

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name

The Scavenger Hunt: 187076
The Instant Lair Delivery Service: 206636

Thank-you everyone for all the replies under short notice. I will check the fire control to see if there is this so called "smoke" customization option. Then probally go with a dark set as I usually represent myself with that field in many of the AT.

Personally I've found the best combination for a smoke-based character is a Storm/Dark Defender with everything coloured light/dark grey, this can also be customised for a more toxic clouds/vapor feel too.

I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.
Union EU player! Pip pip, tally ho, top hats and tea etc etc

Crab spiders also have access to Venom Grenade and Bile Spray (thro mako patron)

As far as smoky sets tho Rad or Dark is your best bet.

Spines and Thorny Assault are probably the closest we'll see.

From a practical and thematic point of view there are some potential issues with a pure Toxic powerset. Primarily there is no such thing as Toxic Defense so a pure toxic damage set would either be hugely powerful against targets with typed defense but no positional defense or would need it's powers to be given an "attack type" for a damage category they don't have "probably lethal". This isn't a compelte game breaker but I can also see the devs being wary of introducing a set with high (or exclusive) toxic damage. Even with Spines the toxic damage only accounts for about a third of it's damage.

I've got two characters that use the Dark sets to represent smoke. My Dark Melee/Fiery Aura Brute named Where There's Smoke, and my Electrical Blast/Dark Miasma Corruptor named A Blown Fuse.

on my DM/nin stalker, wraith of smoke, he just took one of the auras (the one with the rising bubbles?) and colored it white (maybe slightly gray). constantly puffs out smoke from his body and makes an outline of him while he's hidden and trails when he moves. so there is always that option. and that was before power customization. now all of his powers are colored too!

i don't believe any AT with fire control gets any type of dark powers, outside of the ghost widow patron pool. but you can always recolor if its a RP issue.

I was reading this thread and was about to mention auras but you beat me to it.

Yeah, I plan to use the auras, but combat would be nice too so I dont have people thinking the wrong idea.

Uber Rod - level 50 dark melee/regen scrapper
Rod Valdr - level 50 invuln/SS tanker
Talgrim - level 50 ninja/dark mastermind

Fire Control doesn't have a "smoke" customization option. It has a power literally named "Smoke".
