My only problem with the forums is the logouts. :/
Which wouldn't be to bad, but it wipes clean all the new messages I was still going through, and says no new messages.
Loading times haven't been a problem though.

Loading times are fine on my end (Western Europe), I do get logged out every now and then though.

Things are loading lightning flash here.
I am reading on two forum tabs, and using one to answer this.
At the same time I am downloading 4 games from Steam (Damn Indie gam packs, they keep getting my money!).
I am also reading my emails and catching up with Facebook games...
I have no forum performance problems. Actually, no performance problem on any of the things I just said. Maybe your ISP is filtering the Forum IP (i dont know the tech on it, but it seens that sometimes ISPs do those pesky things).

Upon logging in, apparently I've read every thread of every sub-forum. None of them show up as having new posts with the bolded thread title.

Well, I don't know what happened, but my coffee break loading times seem to be fixed, and thank God for that. Seriously, if I was sounding annoyed, it was because I'd been twiddling my thumbs for five minutes on the clock before getting to post each and every time.
I don't know what changed. I tested my speed to my local ISP when I was having forums issues and it came out as advertised, so whatever was going on was somewhere past my ISP's network, possibly out of the country.
It still doesn't change the fact that the forums are prone to random hangs and logouts, though. That has been happening pretty much since day one of introducing these boards.

So far the browsers that I've experienced the problems the least with have been Google Chrome and IE. Certain versions of Firefox, Opera, and Konqueror seem to be more susceptible to the problems, leading me to think software conflict.

And it looks like I spoke too soon. Forums are still acting up, though much more sporadically now, instead of constantly and consistently like it was earlier. And I keep saying it's something in the forums because all of a sudden EVERY page on the forums will load infinitely, while the rest of the 'net and even the official site load without problem. Then all of a sudden all pages I've opened and left loading will all load just about simultaneously when whatever it is that happens to let me load happens.

I have had that problem with websites/forums in general, although not all the time.
For me (running opera/chrome/firefox/IE) it appears to be one browser tab taking forever and delaying everything to do with that site. When i close the offending tab (normally the 1st one that was trying to load) the rest just zip along, so it could well be an offending image file that is screwing it up.
Note: The forums logging you out is a board issue in general... although i find that using lastpass set to auto-login DOES help ease the issue.
Never had any of the problems you described.
Methinks you need a tune-up.

A tune-up of what? My router is almost brand new. Can't be more than a few months old. And this just about a fresh install. I did a full format of my hard drive and a fresh Windows 7 in I think September or October. I mean, none are BRAND new, but they're not old by any stretch.

It probably won't help your particular situation as these issues largely seem to be occurring only on the CoH forums and with no other web-page. That being said, DD-WRT is generally faster in terms of network performance compared to the default firmware shipped on most routers, and is generally more secure to outside penetration.
Obviously you need to team up to handle the challenge of these forums.
You're okay with that aren't you?

What's going on with the forum software? Seriously. I remember when we used to complain it would occasionally log us out or maybe fail to load sometimes, and I look back fondly on those memories, because the way the forums are now is just insulting. Why? Well...
They take ages to load. Every. Single. Page I open loads for a minimum of 60 seconds, and that's if I'm luck. They just load and load and load and load, and at the end, half the time they fail to load anything anyway. I just get a blank white page with nothing on it. So I force the page to reload, upon which time it takes another 10 minutes to MAYBE load. Or, you know, maybe not. Sometimes the boards feel like there's nothing like spreading the holiday cheer like forcing me to reload a page three times and wait five minutes each.
I haven't been logged out yet, for what that's worth, but the wait times and load failures are intolerable. I've taken to setting a page to load, Alt-Tabbing back to the game, running through a few rooms and then Alt-Tabbing back to see if the forums are done loading. And most of the time they're actually not. I went through half an instance like that one time, and I'm not a speed player.
It's almost comedic how we used to complain about the old boards before the changeover, about how they were slow or they'd drop posts or whatnot, and how they didn't have all the functionalities we used to grief each other and the developers disabled anyway. And I wish we never changed over, because this forum software has been a gigantic piece of crap ever since it was first introduced, and it's been getting progressively worse and worse ever since then.

Posting this was so much fun. First I waited 30 seconds, then got a blank page. Hit back, waited another 30 seconds, my post was gone. Good thing I'd saved it. Posted it AGAIN, and this time the forums loaded for SIX MINUTES before they went through. I could have watched a Zero Punctuation review in that time.
