The more completely awesome yet totally random stuff I keep seeing in these videos just makes me want to see this movie more and more.

From the sound of it, it will be another soundtrack to add to my collection. I seem to hear some Lords of Acid in there.

Well, having seen the trailer for this film, I think it's official: We now have two Michael Bays. Only one of them is named Zack Snyder.

I also have a feeling that if you were to have all the slow motion shots in the film run at regular speed, the movie would be about 27 minutes long.

I fear for Superman's future in film if this is the best Zack Snyder can come up with.

All I know is that I'd much rather watch a Superman movie styled after "300" than any of the garbage Bay has been responsible for.
Comparing these two directors is like trying to compare night and day.
The next Superman movie could be in MUCH worse hands than the likes of Snyder. *shrugs*

Honestly, and I'm not a student of film or anything--but I don't see the difference between what Bay does and this movie.

Bay likes to have alot of mindless explosions that the audience has seen abour four million times before.

This trailer has tons of things exploding pointlessly.

Michael Bay casts pretty girls irregardless of whether or not they can act.

This trailer has that in spades.

Michael Bay loves slow motion shots.

Only Zack Snyder out slow motions Michael Bay. So much so that it has become his trademark, which is sad considering that it was done to death and had become incredibly boring before Snyder even started making films.

Seriously, I don't see the difference, other than that Snyder has generally had better source material to work with.

Now, to be fair, this is only a trailer, so this film could turn out to be decent. I'm just saying, that from what I've seen so far, it looks painfully stupid and dull.

This movie has visual style... where Bays movies are all just dull by comparison.
As an artist, I full support anyone who seeks to make a movie that has a different visual flair than the others. I mean, come on... what movies can you compare it to other than 300 and Watchmen?

As for the term 'mindless explosion'.... come on. Can you really think of ANY explosion that had a lot of thought put into it? It's a friggen action movie, not Mythbusters.

Besides, from what I can tell... all the action happens inside their imagined world. Are you telling me a young girl who's been held captive for a significant period of time is going to imagine a scenario where all the explosions have purpose other than to just 'blow stuff up'? This chick is angry and frustrated. She wants to see stuff die in a fireball from hell!

As far as I know it's an original story written by Zack Snyder. And Michael Bay wishes he was Snyder.

Yes, the trailer focuses on action sequences. So did the trailer for Watchmen and yet Watchmen was more than just a continuous string of explosions. Perhaps you were hoping that the trailer could condense the entire plot of the movie down into 2 minutes so that you don't have to go see it?

Funny that you should complain that the trailer is nothing but action and then slam Snyder for casting a bunch of pretty faces that can't act. How can you tell how good their acting is from what little we see in the trailer? Michael Bay has a track record of casting A-list actors who get by on their looks and charisma but Snyder tends to cast B-list actors who may not be as charismatic but who are good actors. I've seen Emily Browning, Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm, and Scott Glenn in other things. I'm certainly willing to give them and Snyder the benefit of the doubt until I see the movie.

Does Snyder use a lot of slow motion? Sure. A lot of directors do. At least with Snyder it tends to be done in an artistic fashion.

Now you say that Snyder's movies are better because he's got better material to work with. Have you considered that that's by choice? Director's pick what they want to work with. Clearly Snyder has higher standards than Bay does. That speaks in his favor.

Saying Bay and Snyder are similar directors because they both use explosions, pretty girls and slow motion in their movies is like saying Hitler and Gandhi were similar human beings because they both had body hair, blood in their veins and brains to think with.

I don't dismiss the idea that neither one of them are the BEST directors in the world. But if you want to try to say they are equally bad you had better come up with better reasons you can compare their movies with than you can glean from movie trailers. Just about ANY movie looks like any other when you only watch a couple of minutes of each of them side-by-side. *shrugs*

The basic problem is that Bay's full movies never really expand beyond the hyped "movie trailer" format. They are like watching 2 hour advertisements for a better movie that don't actually exist. On the other hand what I've seen of Snyder's films leads me to believe there will be an actual movie behind this movie trailer worth watching. YMMV.

Since I can pretty much guarentee there will be a movie->game adaption, I have but one thing to say about that; IF it gets screwed up, someone deserves to be shot. Because it should be as feasible to screw up a transition like that as it is to spit at the sun until it goes out.

I want to see that, I have to admit. Heck, the designs of the stuff they were fighting looked ace (film/game design wannabe here )

It has hot chicks fighting what appears to be Nazis, dragons, and giant gattling-gun-wielding samurai with swords and automatic weapons. If you don't want to see it, you have no soul.

the real Bay wouldn't let a tune as awesome as The Crablouse near one of his shambling towers of reanimated poop.

and he's also never made a film as efficiently concise as the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Not a huge fan of Snyder, but he's substantially more talented and interesting than Bay.

I semi-agree with JeNeSaisQuoi. While I will definitely see this in the theater, based on genre/style alone (I do like me some eye-candy), Snyder does seem a little stuck, kind of like John Woo over the last 18 years. Whether "stuck" becomes "stunted" (like Woo, the Wachowskis, Bay, Tim Burton and to a lesser extent Tarantino) remains to be seen. He is of course, still something of a fledgling director and has plenty of time to move beyond style to substance. The choice of chewier source material could likely be all that he needs to take it to the next level (see Guillermo del Toro).

I'm no raving Snyder fan-grrl or anything of the like, but even if Snyder is currently "stuck" or "stunted" as a director I still think he's many levels above Bay at this point in the "at least I'm still willing to see another movie that he makes" category. I've pretty much given up any hope for Bay at this point. *shrugs*
