I know a lot of people who didn't like Castle or what he did, but I've always been on his side. The good news is he left by his own choice (unlike Brawler). After 6 years of the same thing every day, he could tell he was headed down the Burned Out path, so he got out before he turned into another Jack Emmert.

Some of us appreciated the hard work that was put into not butchering perfectly good ATs and powers just for the sake of them making a few people really mad about not being able to beat up other people in PvP with them. Splitting effects was a Very Good Thing™. If nothing else, the guy actually looked at numbers instead of caving to the whine of players with self entitlement issues, and that was great.
That is precisely what he did: butcher good ATs and powers. Heal decay and DR made support classes largely irrelevant in zone pvp. There is a more narrow range of FoTMs and escape powers like phase shift and hibernate are mandatory for the majority of builds. Splitting of these effects WAS a very good thing for the game as a whole, since the majority of the playerbase would ragequit if they were applied to pve.
Castle didn't cave to whining. He also didn't listen to reasoned analysis. He disregarded active pvpers entirely to cater to a hypothetical might-be-interested-in-pvp playerbase that never materialized. I'm sure he did good things for this game. He was BAD for the part that I'm here to play.

Talk about screwing up the ATs.
Now, he did do some good for PvE, Energize being changed, as well as the stalker changes (hide going back into effect after 8 seconds, AS not triggering aggro if it misses, etc) and the Dominator changes are all pretty good. (granted, it pissed up those who could double stack domination, but over all gave a MASSIVE buff to dominators) Can't forget the defiance 2.0 changes to blaster either, all pretty much spearheaded by Castle.
I was under the impression that Castle wasn't responsible for the PvP changes, instead that he was told to change it. It's like blaming the scientist for doing his job, that happens to be for an evil company. His head is full of numbers and theories, not the morality of what he's doing.
If anything, it's Posi who's more at fault. Castle is my bro, I'll always side with him. *high five's t3h Chessman.*

A lot of people seemed to take the official 'We do not publicly comment on personnel matters' stance from NCSoft/Paragon and a lack of any comment from Brawler to mean that he was sacked, but that's entirely speculation on their part.
