I agree it does feel like adding them for the sake of adding them, including boosting the hazard zones to 8 badges. So ok, now all non PVP zones have 8 explore badges.....I guess at this point they could say that archaeological teams have unearthed new plaques.....but I hope not. The new map badges are for us that "gotta get em all" plus 5 merits. Now if they added a base TP beacon to the set I'd scratch my head and wonder "does my base need a TP to the sewer system?"

New defeat badges: eh not too big a deal. I like the "points" system for the praetorian defeat badges and hope it migrates to all defeat badges someday instead of things like 200 bosses only for gangbuster badge or 333 cage consortium or 500 skulls for one badge and 100 bosses for the other.

New Accomp badges: ok new TF = new badges. That is also understandable. Same with new achievement badges.

Adding any other badge types besides Accomplishment, Achievement, Defeat and Holiday/Event badges would be overkill at this point.

From what I hear so far the X-mas event only has the login badge for the year as a new badge. That is good. Now if we can get enough candy canes to craft missing game anniversary badges that would be even better.

I'm at 1109 for the moment, but I'll likely be close to the current badge cap by the end of next week.

I had too much fun beating things up in my post-respec glory yesterday, I can get moar badgez later.

After reading the descriptions for the Shadow Shard exploration badges.. I feel like the dev who wrote them was trying to make me feel bad for playing this game for 6+ years.. Then again, maybe I'm just feeling guilty for spending my 20's playing a video game.

At any rate, 1157 and counting!

1210 is the current maximum that any toon can have, hero, villain or Praetorian.


I hit 1142 after doing the new blueside arc. Was 2 short of the other badge for that one. Thankfully with the Incarnate system requiring play of my 50 I'm working on some of the remaining badges like the damage taken, healing (thank you inherent fitness for allowing me to take the medicine pool) and the Leader badge. I've also got a few odd badges in each tab to get; Usurper, the Pentad/Spetad, 5 redside day jobs to unlock and the associated accolades with each, the sales badges and then the new redside arc.

You're halfway there: It's the Shadow Shard itself that's supposed to be havign that effect on you.

PS, i'm at 1123. Still need a few of the new mission badges, the new redside exploration badges, and the epic healing and damage badges I've been slowly working on lately... plus one or two odds and ends.

All I have left is some day jobs, the arena badges, and some MA badges that I doubt I iwll ever get off my butt and earn. I know I will never catch up on the vet badges or get the one year anniversary badge and 5th columnist gladiator and I am ok with that.

Personally I really don't count those as other badges. They are just a different name for the same thing. I do think it was silly of the devs to do that though.

Going on that presumption, I'd say the current count for primals (at this time) is 1198 badges.

1260 badges
- 4 Praetorian-only accomplishments
- 52 Praetorian-only achievements
-3 Praetorian-only Accolades
(-3 respec accolades from opposing ethics)

Final count for a Primal toon: 1198 badges (includes Passport, Bug Hunter)

Sound right, or am I missing something?

That sounds about right.
At any rate I'm pretty sure no one will be able to get over 1200 verified badges until I20.

If you compare Primal characters versus Praetorian ones each side has a number of badges the other can't get that are roughly equal in number (for instance Praetorians can't get the first 6 anniversary badges). I'd be interested to see if anyone manages to break 1200 before I20 regardless.

I'm sitting at 1154 right now. Waiting to get MoBSF and two more day jobs before I return to a vigilante/hero for the rest of the badges I skipped over (villain sg beacons).

Master-Blade has 1165.
Teal Tabby has 1158.
Robin Rogue has yet to do i19 content, so that update will come later.

Supposedly, if somebody didn't claim their respecs way back in the day, they can apparently earn those other 3 badges on the other side. That would make the total 1201. Whether or not anybody qualifies for that is doubtful, but I guess we'll see.

On a side note, if you Run the Katie TF again and stop after the 8th Mary (so they don't disappear), that's 8 more badges that you could have on your in-game total. Those might prove beneficial when it comes to snatching the 1250 badge in advance, depending on how many badges come with the next issue.

Actually... I think Doc Turg just might qualify for at least one, if not all three. I don't think I've ever gone to Galaxy City for a respec (I used /respec every time I had to do it).

Yeah that would be pretty silly if you could grab one of those count badges like that. That's adds to my list of reasons why I think those count badges were a fundamentally silly idea to begin with.

There's another thread in this section of the forums discussing this situation. My main hero badger used one of those three original respecs (back like 5 years ago) so I could potentially get 2 of the 3 villain respec badges on her.

I'm actually probably going to hold off on that because I think the whole situation is very crummy. I think the Devs will eventually fix it so that people can legally get all 6 badges (3 hero and 3 villain) regardless of whether you used respecs or not. But just as likely they'll make it impossible for people to legally get more than 3 and remove excess respec badges from everyone. No point in doing the work to get badges whose future is questionable at best. *shrugs*
