They're moving the European servers
What would be nice would be for them to implement one way transfers ala Freedom to Defiant, etc. They should aim for some sort of server balancing to move the consistently red and yellow dotted servers onto some of the green dotted servers.
Granted this might not help, but it could possibly shore up some of the lower population servers. |
the danger of that is that players might use Defiant as just a place to dump their obsolete or unused 50s so it woudln't ever really solve the issue.
I know that many of my friends who I connect with in a different virtual environment would very gladly roll toons on Defiant and I would probbly roll a toon on a couple of other servers too but Defiant's my home

I don't get these devs at all. They split up heroes and villain players, they split the global players....just odd.
CoX seems to be a game of getting your cake and then not being able to eat it too.
Ok I say the coming storm is will be a huge event that tears a rift between the shards (servers) and cross server teaming will become possible. Duplicate names? Well, two characters from different shards are in the CoX shard-verse, two people from different realities that have been someone collided into one. So SuperJack (Freedom) teamed with SuperJack (Virtue) is what the character names would look like.
Dons tinfoil hat and rocks himself in the corner of a dark room. The only light is the glare of the monitor displaying the CoX server listed. Mutters to himself, yes it will be so...
For reasons other than server performance issues with higher population?
I ask as I went on to mention perceived server performance issues as a reason for moving to a less populated server. It's interesting news to me if people moved because they actively wanted to be on a server with lower population but not due to perceived performance issues. Is that what you're saying people have done, according to anecdotal evidence? |
I'm just going to pretend this means soon we will have a merged server listing.

Equate "parallel worlds" with servers.
Consolidated NOC ---> Better interserver behavior ---> more potential cross server support--->not just combined server lists, but crossworld teaming through Ouroboros.
It'd solve some of the issues with getting enough incarnates to do the larger-team incarnate stuff on some of the less active servers...
I wonder if they'd still keep the Euro lounge section of the forums if there was a server list merge?

Almost certainly. There's an Oceanic Lounge for the Antipodeans... and they play on the US servers - and if they posted in here, I'd find it impossible not to mention their dreams crumbling to Ashes this winter

Errrr, how could heroes and villain not have been split up? COV came quite a bit after coh came out.
Other games also have international editions, and have different factions that are "split up".
Not seeing anything odd at all here.

A "serverless" environment comes. One with a more advanced global/local naming scheme, permitting duplicate names but not bogging down chat aesthetics. This new paradigm will be upon us within the next two years.
Really I've no idea what this means. But I have this unfounded feeling in my gut that long term, within the next two years, we're going to see some sort of significant change to how servers and the division between them works in game.
I doubt it... too much work but I bet that CoH2 will be serverless
